Abstract

This research explores the understanding of death based on 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, death rites according to Pamona Culture, and Christian religious education strategies for the GKST Immanuel Taripa congregation when confronting death. Utilizing qualitative methods with a descriptive analytical hermeneutic approach, the study employs historical-critical and reader response methods, focusing on the process and meaning of death in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 and Pamona cultural death rites. Phenomenological methods were also applied to capture subjective experiences. Data collection involved participant observation, interviews, and documentation studies.Findings reveal that Christ is perceived as the sole foundation and unwavering source of hope in the face of death. Belief in Christ's resurrection is seen as a solid foundation, offering profound meaning and spiritual tranquility. In Pamona culture, death rites play a crucial role in preserving local values, beliefs, and traditions, with deep symbolic meaning expressing love, togetherness, and cultural continuity. The integration of culture as a theological tool connects Pamona cultural values with Bible teachings and church life experiences. Christian Religious Education views culture as an opportunity to understand and appreciate community values, traditions, and wisdom. In facing death, the church implements education by combining Pamona cultural aspects into death rites, enriching these rites with comforting and affirming Biblical teachings. The research underscores the importance of incorporating local culture into Christian religious learning, advocating for conversations about death and culture that involve various generations through the intergenerational method.

Abstract

Understanding the meaning of education is very important for the formation of human character and intellect. In the Christian context, the Bible is the main reference source in understanding education in accordance with God's will. The meaning of education in this context is teaching, rules, regulations and all things related to educating, instructing and disciplining God's people, namely His human creation. However, in the current era of globalization, the challenges and dynamics of education have experienced significant changes. This article aims to conduct a critical review of the concept of the meaning of education according to the Bible and criticize its relevance in the digital era of globalization. Through studying Bible verses related to education, several basic things were identified, such as the importance of knowing God through reading the Bible, examining the purpose of education and God's teachings from the Old Testament to the New Testament and the time of the Holy Spirit. However, advances in digital technology have changed the landscape of the meaning of education, giving rise to new challenges, namely distractions from the meaning of education in the Bible. This article explores how the teaching or educational values that God gave to Adam and Eve reached the Israelites as HIS chosen nation, during the Old Testament, the New Testament and so on up to the present. Whether teaching or upbringing through God speaking directly, through the voices of prophets, apostles and the Holy Spirit: can it still be applied adaptively and transformatively to answer educational challenges in the era of globalization? This review emphasizes the need for a balanced educational approach between Biblical values and technological advances, starting with motivating a person so that there is a desire to find out through the desire to read the Bible. This will enable people, especially the younger generation of Christians, to understand the holistic meaning of education according to the Bible, which strengthens faith, character and skills needed to face the complexities of the times.

This study examines the role of Minahasa women in maintaining the heritage of the Christian faith in the midst of the dynamics of social, cultural, and economic changes triggered by the influence of colonialism and modernization. The urgency of the research arises from the need to understand how Minahasa women, who are agents of social transformation and guardians of traditional values, are able to adapt their roles in the face of the dual challenge between local cultural values and the demands of modern times. This research uses a literature review method with a qualitative approach, integrating theological hermeneutic analysis and historical sociological analysis to dive into women's perceptions, experiences, and contributions in religious and social contexts. Abstract

Hospitality is one of the themes echoed in Christian theology with various forms of effort. This is inseparable from the fact that the Indonesian nation is a plural nation. Plurality on the one hand is a beauty, but on the other hand plurality also contains its own element of sensitivity. Therefore, the theme of hospitality is a reference to suppress and prevent potential conflicts in the midst of the reality of the plurality of this nation. This paper would like to present several passages of the Bible that reflect hospitality based on the narrative of the Gospel of Luke The reason researchers chose Luke's Gospel is because of its universal nature; touch all aspects in a plural context. The research method used is a literature study research approach. From the results of this study, it was found that hospitality has socioreligious values that include mutual respect, courtesy, acceptance, help, and a sense of solidarity, which can be widely implemented. Thus, as a Christian the implications of his faith make hospitality has no fixed place, but rather a plural reality.

Abstract

Conflict within church organizations is both inevitable and multifaceted, often shaped by doctrinal differences, leadership styles, personal ambition, and external political dynamics. While typically perceived as negative, conflict—when managed wisely—can serve as a catalyst for spiritual growth and communal renewal. This study aims to explore how the theological principles in Philippians 2:2–4 offer a biblical foundation for conflict resolution and the pursuit of unity in ecclesial contexts. Employing a qualitative descriptive method with an exegetical approach, the research integrates textual interpretation with conflict management theory to construct a holistic model of reconciliation. The exegetical analysis reveals that values such as mutual love, humility, being like-minded, and prioritizing the interests of others are central to Paul’s vision of church unity. These values not only offer spiritual guidance but also shape practical strategies for conflict transformation within church communities. The findings affirm that biblical principles, when embodied in leadership and practice, can reduce polarization, strengthen internal relationships, and empower the church as an agent of reconciliation in wider society.
