Abstract

AbstrakTujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui keefektifan pembelajaran matematika dengan pendekatan Polya Questioning Instruction (PQI) untuk meningkatkan kemampuan penalaran geometris siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 5 Yogyakarta. Pembelajaran matematika dengan pendekatan PQI ini menggunakan model problem solving dengan strategi pemberian pertanyaan (questioning). Pertanyaan-pertanyaan yang diberikan bertujuan untuk mengarahkan siswa berpikir dan bernalar untuk menyelesaikan masalah sesuai dengan langkah pemecahan masalah Polya yaitu (1) memahami masalah (understanding the problem), (2) merencanakan cara penyelesaian (devising a plan), (3) melaksanakan rencana (carrying out the plan), dan (4) melakukan pengecekan kembali terhadap semua langkah yang telah dikerjakan (looking back).Desain penelitian untuk memperoleh data mengenai kemampuan penalaran geometris siswa menggunakan bentuk pra-experimental design yang digunakan adalah One-Shot Case Study dimana suatu kelompok diberi perlakuan kemudian diukur hasilnya. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 5 Yogyakarta. Sampel penelitian adalah 32 orang siswa kelas VIII.7 SMP Negeri 5 Yogyakarta yang telah memiliki kemampuan awal yang cukup untuk mempelajari konsep.Instrumen yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah soal tes kemampuan penalaran geometris. Pendekatan PQI efektif apabila persentase siswa yang memenuhi ketuntasan secara klasikal pada tes kemampuan penalaran geometris minimal mencapai 75%, dan proporsi siswa yang telah mencapai skor kemampuan penalaran geometris minimal kategori tinggi mencapai lebih dari atau sama dengan 75%. Hasil tes kemampuan penalaran geometris siswa menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan PQI efektif untuk meningkatkan penalaran geometris siswa. Hal ini dikarenakan persentase siswa yang mencapai KKM pada tes kemampuan penalaran geometris adalah 75%. Berdasarkan uji hipotesis dengan taraf signifikansi 5%, diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa proporsi siswa mencapai kategori minimal tinggi lebih dari atau sama dengan 75%. Kata kunci: Polya Questioning Instruction, Questioning, Penalaran Geometris

Abstract

Abstract: This research was based on the unsatisfied process in learning mathematics at grade X IIS 1 of SMAN 10 Pekanbaru. It was seen from the low motivation of the students to learn mathematics while the learning process. These problems impact on the number of students who pass the Exponents and Logarithms test with percentage of 2.5%. The research was a Classroom Action Research that aims to improve the learning process and increase the motivation of the students to learn mathematics by implementing Cooperative Learning Approach Structural of Think Pair Square (TPS). There were 40 students in the class consisting 21 boys and 19 girls as the participant of this research. The instruments of data collecting in this research were observation sheets (observation of teacher and students activity and observation of students motivation) and the motivation questionnaire. The observation sheets were analyzed in qualitative descriptive, while the motivation questionnaire were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The qualitative descriptive showed an improvement of learning process and increased the motivation of students to learn mathematics in the class from before to after the action. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test for all indicators of motivation questionnaire obtained , so that and for each indicator of the motivation to learn mathematics obtained . From this test is rejected, in other words, the motivation to learn mathematics at grade X IIS 1 of SMAN 10 Pekanbaru increased after the action. Based on these results it can be concluded that the application of Cooperative Learning Approach Structural of TPS can improved the learning process and increased motivation to learn mathematics at grade X IIS 1 of SMAN 10 Pekanbaru on first semester of academic year 2014/2015. Abstract

The aim of this research was to see the effectiveness of interactive multimedia in terms of geometric reasoning skill of junior high school students in grade VIII. The interactive multimedia used was Flash with the content is polyhedron for grade VIII students. The subjects were students of class VIII.7 SMPN 5 Yogyakarta. The instruments used were the geometric reasoning skill tests. Interactive multimedia is effective if at least 75% of students reach the minimum criteria of mastery learning in geometric reasoning skill test and at least 75% of students’ proportion is categorized in high category or above. The result of students’ geometric reasoning skill test shows that the developed product is in effective category. This is because 75% of students reach the minimum criteria of mastery learning. Based on the hypothesis test with 5% of significance level, it is obtained the proportion of students who had geometric reasoning skill in high category or above is more than or equal to 75%.

Abstract

Abstrak:Kepercayaan diri siswa menjadi hal yang penting dalam mempersiapkan siswa menghadapi kehidupan yang semakin menantang. Salah satu metode yang dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan kepercayaan diri siswa adalah pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Think Pair Square (TPS). Pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TPS adalah model pembelajaran kelompok heterogen yang memberikan kesempatan kepada siswa untuk berpikir mandiri kemudian mendiskusikan hasil pemikirannya dengan pasangan berdua dan berempat. Dalam meningkatkan kepercayaan diri siswa ini dilakukan penelitian tindakan kelas menggunakan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TPS untuk siswa SMP. Selama Oktober hingga Desember 2018 penelitian dilakukan sebanyak dua siklus dan diterapkan kepada 32 siswa SMP di Pekanbaru. Data penelitian diperoleh dari instrumen non tes yaitu angket kepercayaan diri, lembar pengamatan guru dan siswa, catatan peneliti, dan lembar refleksi. Kondisi awal menunjukkan rata-rata kepercayaan diri siswa berada pada kriteria sedang. Setelah siklus 1 diperoleh rata-rata kepercayaan diri siswa meningkat menjadi kriteria tinggi, namun masih terdapat beberapa catatan yang ditulis dalam lembar refleksi. Setelah adanya perbaikan, rata-rata kepercayaan diri siswa berada pada kriteria tinggi dengan nilai rata-rata yang meningkat dibanding siklus 1 dikarenakan adanya upaya perbaikan yang disesuaikan dengan rencana. Hal ini memperlihatkan bahwa target peningkatan kepercayaan diri siswa SMP tercapai melalui pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TPS, dengan kondisi siswa berada pada kelas VIII dengan kelas yang heterogen dan kemampuan kognitif siswa rata-rata berada pada kategori sedang. Kata Kunci:Kepercayaan Diri, Pembelajaran Kooperatif, Think Pair Square. Abstract:Student confidence is important in preparing students for increasingly challenging lives. One method that can be used to improve student confidence is Think Pair Square (TPS) cooperative learning. TPS type cooperative learning is a heterogeneous group learning model that provides opportunities for students to think independently then discuss the results of their thinking with partners of two and four. In increasing students' confidence, a classroom action research study using TPS cooperative learning for junior high school students was conducted. During October to December 2018 the study was conducted in two cycles and applied to 32 junior high school students in Pekanbaru. The research data were obtained from non-test instruments namely self-confidence questionnaire, teacher and student observation sheets, researcher notes, and reflection sheets. The initial conditions indicate the average level of student confidence is at the medium criteria. After cycle 1, the average student's self-confidence is increased to a high criterion, but there are still some notes written in the reflection sheet. After the improvement, the average student confidence is at a high criterion with an average value that increases compared to cycle 1 due to the improvement effort that is adjusted to the plan. This shows that the target of increasing the confidence of junior high school students is achieved through cooperative learning type TPS, with the condition of students in class VIII with heterogeneous classes and cognitive abilities of students in the average category is in the medium category. Keywords:Self Confidence, Cooperative Learning, Think Pair Square

Abstract

Istana Maimun merupakan bukti kemegahan dari kesultanan Deli, yaitu Sultan Makmun Al Rasyid Perkasa Alamsja. Setiap sisi istana ini dipenuhi dengan ornamen yang memiliki makna yang mendalam. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian etnomatematika yang bertujuan mencari unsur matematika berupa transformasi geometri pada ornamen interior balairung Istana Maimun sebagai sumber belajar matematika di sekolah. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan etnografi. Adapun metode penelitiannya adalah dengan observasi, dokumentasi, dan kajian literature. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif yaitu reduksi data, tampilan data, dan terakhir menarik kesimpulan. Hasil dari penelitian ini menyatakan bahwa adanya konsep etnomatematika pada ornamen Istana Maimun berupa tranformasi geometri seperti pada bagian ruangan balairung istana maimun. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa ornamen pada Istana Maimun dapat digunakan sebagai sumber alternative dari pembelajaran matematika, terutama tranformasi geometri.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the ability of prospective mathematics teachers in developing lesson plans during micro teaching activities. This study is a qualitative descriptive research equipped with quantitative data used to explain the findings that exist before the results of the study concluded in qualitative form. To obtain the data, the researchers conducted observations and assessments using assessment instrument sheets based on Permendikbud number 22 of 2016 against the lesson plan prepared by 34 prospective mathematics teachers UIN North Sumatra Medan during micro teaching activities and interviews. Assessment of the lesson plan is done by giving a score on each aspect of the component with a scale assessment of 3 that is fully appropriate, partially appropriate, and not appropriate. The assessment score of each RPP component is processed by descriptive statistics and then categorized according to quantitative data classification and converted into qualitative data of three categories, namely high, medium, and low categories. The results of this study indicate that the ability of prospective teachers of mathematics in preparing all components of the lesson plan reached a high category except on one component.

Abstract

This research aims to identify the elements of mathematics, especially two-dimensional geometry concepts in Al-Mashun Great Mosque's building, to be implemented as a source of learning mathematics in the classroom. This research is descriptive-qualitative with an ethnographic approach. The main instrument in this research is a human instrument. Data were obtained from two interviewees, observations, and documentation. Data were analyzed by Spradley’s design: domain analysis, taxonomy, compatibility, and cultural themes. The research results show the elements of the plane figure in the Al-Mashun Great Mosque like triangles, quadrilaterals, octagons, polygons, and circles. These findings indicate that the Al-Mashun Great Mosque can be used in developing learning material like student worksheets or ethnomathematics-based textbooks.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the mathematical connection ability of class X high school students through SPLTV material. The study was conducted at SMA N 1 Panyabungan Timur class X-MIA1 by taking a sample of 6 research subjects. This research is a research that uses descriptive qualitative method. The instrument used in this study was a test question in the form of a description of 3 questions. The procedure in this study was carried out by analyzing the answers given by students in connecting SPLTV material with other materials and contextual problems which were categorized into three levels of ability, namely high, medium and low. The data analysis technique in this study is to collect data, reduce data and then draw conclusions. The results showed that the mathematical connection ability of students at SMA N 1 Panyabungan Timur was adequate, judging from the results of the tests that had been collected.

Abstract

Alame and kipang Panyabungan are typical Mandailing foods. Alame and kipang Panyabungan are quite popular among the people of North Sumatra until now. This study aims to explore mathematical concepts that are in the alame and kipang Panyabungan so that they can be known and used in mathematics subject matter. This research uses a qualitative method of exploration through an ethnographic approach with primary data collection techniques in the form of observations, interviews, documentation and secondary data by conducting literature studies conducted by researchers. The data analysis technique used in this study is descriptive analysis, namely data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results showed that there is mathematical knowledge such as counting, unit elements, measurements, angles, comparisons, flat buildings, building spaces, and social arithmetic.

Abstract

Pemecahan masalah merupakan salah satu tujuan pendidikan matematika. Penelitian ini menggunakan metodologi kualitatif deskriptif, dan jumlah sampelnya adalah 28 siswa, 6 orang diantaranya dari Kelas VIIIB dan 2 siswa dari masing-masing kategori pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kesalahan siswa kelas VIIIB MTs Swasta Nur Ibrahimy dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita materi SPLDV berdasarkan gaya belajar yaitu visual, auditorial dan kinestik. Alat pengambilan data menggunakan angket gaya belajar dan tes pemecahan masalah bentuk soal cerita materi SPLDV. Studi ini menemukan 9 siswa visual, 10 siswa auditorial dan 7 siswa kinestik di antara 28 siswa. Pemecahan masalah untuk pembelajar visual terdeteksi siswa mampu menyelesaikan semua soal. Siswa gaya belajar auditorial terdeteksi kesalahan yang dilakukan adalah mencoba dan evaluasi. Siswa gaya kinestik terdeteksi kesalahan yang dilakukan adalah mengenali masalah, mendefenisikan masalah, mencoba dan evaluasi.
