Abstract

Abstract School readiness is an essential factor for the academic success of primary school students, and children's social skills influence it, as well as teachers' understanding of transitional learning and parental support. This study examines students' school readiness, focusing on these three variables. Through a survey using tests, questionnaires, interviews and document analysis, this study was conducted among elementary school students in DKI Jakarta. It also developed a standardized school readiness instrument and a transition learning model for early-grade teachers. Results show that 50% of parents prioritize reading, 48.8% writing and 38.1% arithmetic as academic readiness. However, non-academic aspects such as disciplinary behaviour (98.8%), social skills (98.8%), emotion regulation (98.9%), independence (98.9%), and self-confidence (100%) were highly prioritized. In addition, 100% of parents supported a conducive educational atmosphere, teachers who respect students, a playful approach in the early grades, and fun learning media. In conclusion, school readiness covers academic and non-academic aspects in a balanced way, contributing to national policies to support developmentally appropriate transition learning in the early grades of primary school. The findings support Government policy in developing developmentally appropriate transition learning models for young children in the early grades of primary school. Keywords: School Readiness; Transitional Learning Model; Literacy Numeracy; Social Skills Abstrak Kesiapan sekolah merupakan faktor penting bagi keberhasilan akademis siswa sekolah dasar, dipengaruhi oleh keterampilan sosial anak, pemahaman guru tentang pembelajaran transisi, dan dukungan orang tua. Penelitian ini bertujuan menguji kesiapan siswa masuk sekolah, dengan fokus pada ketiga variabel tersebut. Melalui survei menggunakan tes, kuesioner, wawancara, dan analisis dokumen, penelitian ini dilakukan pada siswa sekolah dasar di DKI Jakarta. Penelitian ini juga mengembangkan instrumen standar kesiapan sekolah dan model pembelajaran transisi bagi guru kelas awal. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa 50% orang tua memprioritaskan kemampuan membaca, 48,8% menulis, dan 38,1% berhitung sebagai kesiapan akademik. Namun, aspek non-akademik seperti perilaku disiplin (98,8%), keterampilan sosial (98,8%), regulasi emosi (98,9%), kemandirian (98,9%), dan kepercayaan diri (100%) sangat diprioritaskan. Selain itu, 100% orang tua mendukung suasana pendidikan kondusif, guru yang menghargai siswa, pendekatan bermain di kelas awal, dan penggunaan media pembelajaran yang menyenangkan. Kesimpulannya, kesiapan sekolah mencakup aspek akademik dan non-akademik secara seimbang, berkontribusi pada kebijakan nasional untuk mendukung pembelajaran transisi yang sesuai dengan perkembangan anak usia dini di kelas awal sekolah dasar. Temuan ini mendukung kebijakan pemerintah dalam mengembangkan model pembelajaran transisi yang sesuai dengan perkembangan anak usia dini di kelas awal sekolah dasar. Abstract

This study aims to develop a contextual transition learning model to improve the readiness of early childhood schools in Jakarta. The method used is based on Borg & Gall's research and development process, which involves the stages of needs analysis, model design, limited testing, evaluation, and model refinement. A needs analysis of 150 children showed that 43% were ready, 38% were somewhat prepared, and 19% were not ready, with the main weaknesses identified in the social-emotional and independence aspects. The designed model consists of six phases: relaxation, orientation, exploration, collaborative planning, implementation, and expression, based on neuropedagogical principles. Limited testing results showed significant improvement, with the ready category increasing from 43% to 61%, while the not ready category decreased from 19% to 8%. Expert validation resulted in an average score of 3.78 (very good). These results suggest that the contextual transition model is effective in enhancing children's readiness and have implications for teacher practice, parental involvement, and systematic educational policy.

Abstract

Anak usia dini adalah masa kritis dalam perkembangan kognitif dan pengetahuan saintifik. Pengenalan sains melalui metode bermain dapat memberikan dasar yang kuat untuk keterampilan berpikir kritis dan analitis pada anak. SPS Bunga Mawar menyediakan lingkungan yang kondusif untuk mengimplementasikan program pemberdayaan ini melalui aktivitas bermain sains. Tujuan kegiatan ini  untuk pengembangan kemampuan saintifik anak usia dini melalui bermain sains. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan partisipatif, melibatkan anak-anak, orang tua, dan guru dalam aktivitas bermain sains, seperti demonstrasi, eksperimen sederhana, dan permainan interaktif. Evaluasi program dilakukan melalui observasi dan penilaian perkembangan kemampuan saintifik anak setelah mengikuti kegiatan. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa program ini efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan saintifik anak usia dini, termasuk kemampuan mengamati, menanya, menalar, dan berkomunikasi. Simpulan dari program ini adalah bahwa bermain sains dapat menjadi metode yang efektif untuk memperkenalkan konsep-konsep saintifik kepada anak-anak sejak dini, serta program serupa direkomendasikan untuk diimplementasikan di berbagai institusi pendidikan anak usia dini di Indonesia.   Development of early childhood scientific abilities through science play at SPS Bunga Mawar   Abstract: Early childhood is a critical period in cognitive development and scientific knowledge. Introducing science through play can provide a strong foundation for children's critical and analytical thinking skills. SPS Bunga Mawar provides a conducive environment for implementing this empowerment program through science play activities. The purpose of this activity is to develop early childhood scientific abilities through science play. The method used is a participatory approach, involving children, parents, and teachers in science play activities, such as demonstrations, simple experiments, and interactive games. The program evaluation was conducted through observation and assessment of children's scientific skills development after participating in the activities. The results show that the program is efficacious in improving children's scientific skills, including the ability to observe, question, reason, and communicate. This program concludes that science play can be an effective method to introduce scientific concepts to young children, and similar programs are recommended to be implemented in various early childhood education institutions in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study explores the integration of local wisdom and scientific inquiry in early childhood education (ECE) on Untung Jawa Island, Administrative City of Kepulauan Seribu, DKI Jakarta. Employing a mixed-method approach, the quantitative phase utilized a one-shot posttest experimental design involving 21 children aged 5-6 years old, consisting of 11 boys and 10 girls. The children participated in culturally contextualized science activities that incorporated local wisdom. In addition to quantitative data collection, qualitative data were gathered through observations and interviews with five ECE teachers to gain deeper insights into the implementation process. The results indicate that integrating local wisdom enhances children's engagement and understanding of scientific concepts. This study recommends further research to explore long-term impacts and broader applications of culturally responsive teaching methods in early childhood settings.

Abstract

Lembaga PAUD, bersama dengan keluarga dan lingkungan anak itu sendiri, memainkan peran yang sangat penting dalam pembentukan karakter anak usia dini.  Guru di PAUD memiliki peran besar dalam meningkatkan pendidikan karakter anak. Guru harus memberikan contoh yang baik kepada anak agar anak dapat meniru apa yang dikatakan. Guru akan membantu anak menerapkan nilai-nilai karakter. Guru juga digugu dan ditiru oleh anak didiknya. Tujuan dari kegiatan PKM adalah untuk memberikan pemahaman kepada guru PAUD tentang implementasi kurikulum berbasis karakter pada anak usia dini sampai penilaian tentang implementasi kurikulum karakter yang sudah diterapkan oleh lembaga PAUD masing-masing. Lembaga mitra kegiatan PKM adalah ketua IGTKI Kecamatan Kebayoran Baru, Jakarta Selatan. Peserta dalam kegiatan ini sebanyak 22 orang terdiri dari kepala sekolah dan guru PAUD. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan PKM adalah seminar dan workshop. Pengumpulan data dengan memberikan instrumen berupa angket kepada guru dalam bentuk google form. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah guru-guru sangat antusias ketika narasumber menjelaskan materi, hal ini terlihat dari banyaknya pertanyaan dari guru. Selain itu, guru mendapatkan buku saku yang berisi contoh penerapan kurikulum karakter pada anak usia dini.
