This study aims to analyze factors related to the selection of MKJP for family planning acceptors in the working area of the Sukabumi Health Center, Probolinggo City in 2023 with a quantitative case-control design study with a retrospective approach then use simple random sampling from the study population of 1,980 family planning acceptors and 88 samples comprising 44 LARC FP acceptors and 44 Non-LARC FP acceptors. Primary data was obtained by distributing questionnaires and then univariate and bivariate analysis was performed using the chi-square test. The results of the study mentioned age (p=0.001), number of children (p=0.002), employment status (p=0.018), knowledge (p=0.003), attitude (p=0.033), spousal support (p=0.030) and role health workers (p=0.000) had a relationship. In contrast, an education level (p=0.089) had no association with the selection of LARC acceptors in the Working Area of the Sukabumi Health Center.

Abstract

Mothers and child health (MCH) are one of the main issues in family medicine. Related to this practice, Indonesian government issued mother and child health (MCH) handbook for monitoring child development due to various child developmental problems in Indonesia. However, there are reports of improper MCH handbook utilization. This study aimed to analyze factors related to the utilization of MCH handbook by mothers in Indonesia. Cross sectional observational study was conducted from March to May 2018. This study involved mothers with children aged 3 to 72 months old in Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia. Specific population of mothers who had children attending Early Childhood Education and Development (ECED) and Integrated Health Post (IHP) (Indonesia: Pos Pelayanan Terpadu-Posyandu) were included as inclusion criteria. Maternal characteristics, child health status, employment status, and utilization of MCH handbook were recorded through questionnaire. Association between variables then analyzed statistically using Spearman correlation test. As many as 288 participants were enrolled in this study. We found that mothers' participation of Posyandu was positively correlated with MCH handbook utilization (p<0.05). Meanwhile, mother's occupation (p>0.05), mothers' education (p>0.05), and maternal age (p>0.05) were found to be unrelated to the utilization of MCH handbook. Mothers' age, education, and employment were found to be uncorrelated with utilization of MCH handbook. Whereas, mothers' participation in Posyandu was a determinant factor correlated with utilization of MCH handbook.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the differences in Hsp 70 serum levels in patients with primary angle-closure compared to patients with open-angle glaucoma at Dr. Soetomo General Academic Hospital, Surabaya, East Java. This cross-sectional study was conducted on 41 subjects divided into 2 groups consisting of 21 patients with primary angle-closure glaucoma and 20 patients with open-angle glaucoma. Anterior segment examination was assessed by slit-lamp biomicroscope examination. Intraocular pressure on both eyes was measured by Perkin's tonometry. Posterior segment examination was performed with 78 D lens and anterior chamber angle was assessed by goniolens. The serum level of Hsp 70 was assessed using a human Hsp 70 sandwich ELISA kit. The data were statistically analyzed with the Mann-Whitney test. The mean serum levels of Hsp 70 in the primary angle-closure group was 5.55  4.75 ng/ml, while the open-angle group was 3.62  2.39 ng/ml (p = 0.134). There was no difference in Hsp 70 serum levels between the two groups, although the trend obtained serum levels of Hsp 70 patients with primary angle-closure was higher compared to patients with open-angle.
