Abstract

Abstract

This article is based on academic concerns mentioning that the motivation for learning Islamic Education is low. It is supported by the findings of field research conducted by numerous researchers stating that Indonesia's Human Development Index remains low, especially when observed through the results of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) released by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in 2018. According to the release, Indonesia's scores declined in all categories, with reading scores going from 397 to 371, mathematics from 386 to 379, and science from 403 to 396. One of the reasons for this decline is the students' low learning motivation due to the lack of diverse teaching methods. This article is the result of field research using a qualitative approach that was carried out at Miftahul Ulum Klakah Lumajang Junior High School. Field research focuses on the implementation of the lecture plus method and the addition of spiritual activities in the learning process. The results of the study stated that an increase in learning motivation could occur by providing a variety of plus models in lectures and other spiritual activities such as reading al-Asma al-Husna, giving ibrah and uswah from leaders and sharing experiences.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between post-disaster social dynamics and Islamic education for children, focusing on relocation after the Mount Semeru eruption. It explores how shifts in social structure and values affect children’s learning in Taman Pendidikan Al-Qur’an (TPQ), informal institutions that support moral and emotional development. Using a qualitative library research method, the study finds that TPQs play a key role in fostering spiritual resilience, supporting character education, and aiding psychological recovery. The research concludes that Islamic education contributes not only to religious instruction but also to social cohesion and identity formation. Therefore, TPQs should be integrated into post-disaster recovery frameworks, with continuous support from stakeholders to strengthen their role as agents of social transformation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relevance of collaborative learning within the theoretical framework of Lev Vygotsky’s social constructivism, particularly by examining how the concepts of the Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) and scaffolding are operationalized in collaborative practices. Although collaborative learning has been widely implemented in contemporary classrooms, limited literature explicitly integrates it with Vygotskian constructs in a comprehensive theoretical review. This research employed a qualitative library research design using a systematic literature review approach. Academic sources published between 2015 and 2025 were identified through major databases, screened using inclusion and exclusion criteria, and analyzed thematically following PRISMA procedures. The analysis focused on four dominant themes: collaboration as a mechanism of ZPD, layered scaffolding (cognitive, metacognitive, and socio-emotional), socio-emotional dynamics in group interaction, and digital collaborative learning in relation to 21st-century skills. The findings indicate that collaborative learning functions as the practical operationalization of ZPD through peer interaction and shared meaning-making. Scaffolding is most effective when distributed across teachers, peers, and digital agents. Socio-emotional factors, such as trust and conflict regulation, serve as active mechanisms supporting cognitive internalization. The novelty of this study lies in proposing the concept of group-ZPD and integrating multi-modal scaffolding, socio-emotional learning, and digital mediation into a unified Vygotskian framework. This study contributes theoretically by extending social constructivism into digital contexts and practically by offering design principles for collaborative learning aligned with 21st-century competencies.
