Abstract

The ability to generate innovative ideas is a key competency required in 21st-century education; however, Indonesian students’ creative thinking skills remain relatively low. This study aims to develop a Project-Based Learning (PjBL)-based e-module integrated with the local wisdom of Bojonegoro bananas (Musa spp.) to enhance senior high school students’ creative thinking skills on the topic of plant tissues. Employing a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), the study was conducted from February to October 2025. The results indicate that the local wisdom of Bojonegoro bananas is highly relevant as a contextual learning resource, with community perception and appreciation scores exceeding 85%. The developed e-module achieved a high level of validity (average score = 3.78) and demonstrated strong practicality based on readability, implementation, and student response assessments. Furthermore, effectiveness testing using a paired-sample t-test revealed a significant improvement in students’ creative thinking skills, supported by moderate to high N-Gain scores. These findings imply that integrating local wisdom through a PjBL-based e-module can serve as an effective pedagogical strategy to foster creative thinking, contextual learning, and meaningful engagement, and can be recommended for broader implementation within the Merdeka Curriculum and similar educational contexts.

Abstract

Purpose– This study aims to analyze the impact of learning using the Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI)-based Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on students' critical thinking skills in biology. Although various studies have examined PBL and SSI separately, there has not yet been a comprehensive study that summarizes the combined effectiveness of the PBL-SSI model and maps the development of research in this field. This study fills this gap through a systematic analysis of the latest empirical findings.Methodology – This study employed the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, adhering to the PRISMA guidelines. The articles analyzed were 35 indexed articles published between 2019 and 2024 with the keywords 'Problem-Based Learning (PBL)', 'Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI)', and 'Critical Thinking'. VOSviewer was used to map related keywords, followed by qualitative analysis.Findings – The study's results indicate that approximately 80% of studies report a significant improvement in students' critical thinking skills following the application of the PBL-SSI model. Environmental topics such as pollution, climate change, and renewable energy are the most dominant themes due to their relevance and authenticity. Bibliometric analysis also confirms a strong correlation between the keywords "PBL," "SSI," and "Critical Thinking," indicating growing scientific interest in this integrated learning model. The correlation between PBL and SSI is more pronounced than the application of either one alone, as it enables students to solve real-world problems actively, considering both scientific and social aspects.Contribution –These findings have practical implications for educators, including the development of authentic teaching materials and the integration of fundamental social and environmental issues into the learning process.

Abstract

This research is meant to analyze students' scientific literacy skills. Scientific literacy is one of the key skills needed to develop a generation capable of solving problems and overcoming challenges, which will support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This research is descriptive research using a mixed method, and uses data collection techniques in the form of scientific literacy tests and interviews with science teachers. The competencies used as a reference for analysis are the scientific literacy competencies developed by PISA, namely: the first competency is explaining phenomena scientifically; the second competency is constructing and evaluating designs for scientific investigations and critically interpreting scientific data and evidence; and the third competency is researching, evaluating, and using scientific information for decision-making and action The results of a research study conducted at a public junior high school in the Bangkalan area, involving 68 students, showed that the students' scientific literacy skills were still in the low category, with many influencing factors, both external and internal to the students. The conclusion of this study is that low science literacy skills pose a challenge to supporting the SDGs. Therefore, a transformation in science learning processes is needed to train students' scientific literacy skills to support the achievement of several SDGs.

Abstract

Pembelajaran merupakan serangkaian proses belajar mengajar yang mengacu pada serangkaian komponen yang saling berhubungan untuk mencapai tujuan. Salah satu komponen utama adalah guru. Setiap guru memiliki karakter dan latar belakang ilmu yang berbeda-beda, pengetahuan dan ketrampilan yang berbeda akan mempengaruhi kompetensi yang dimiliki. Pembelajaran IPA/Biologi yang dapat mengkonstruksi pengetahuan yang sesuai dengan karakteristik siswa, diperlukan kerja keras dan kompetensi seorang guru untuk melaksanakan pembelajaran terutama pada materi IPA Botani. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pengayaan materi IPA Botani untuk menunjang kompetensi para guru IPA khususnya di SMP Al Falah Surabaya. Kegiatan ini meliputi tahap persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Tahap persiapan dilakukan identifikasi kebutuhan guru IPA dan identifikasi berbagai materi sulit pada materi IPA Botani. kemudian menyusun instrumen bahan ajar materi pengayaan (hand out dan power point), serta evaluasi materi IPA Botani berupa lembar tes (pretest dan post test) dan angket respon guru tentang pelaksanaan kegiatan pelatihan untuk mengukur Tingkat kompetensi professional guru. Tahap Pelaksanaan adalah pelatihan pengayaan materi IPA Botani terhadap para guru, dan tahap Evaluasi adalah melihat tingkat kemampuan para guru terhadap materi IPA Botani yang sudah diberikan di pelatihan. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan bahwa, guru dapat lebih memahami materi IPA Botani yang teridentifikasi sulit, dengan meningkatnya nilai tes sebesar 1,6%, Guru memiliki kemampuan untuk mencari konsep yang sulit pada materi IPA Botani, serta respon yang baik pada pelaksanaan pelatihan pengayaan materi IPA Botani.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of implementing Problem Based Learning (PBL) integrated with local wisdom in improving students’ scientific literacy in science and biology learning. Studies examining the integration of PBL and local wisdom in relation to scientific literacy remain limited; therefore, this research was conducted to provide a comprehensive overview of research trends and their impact on learning. This study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method following the PRISMA guidelines. Data were collected through article searches in the Google Scholar, DOAJ, Portal Garuda/SINTA, and Scopus databases, covering publications from 2020 to 2025. Based on the processes of identification, screening, and selection, 45 articles met the inclusion criteria. The data were analyzed qualitatively and strengthened through bibliometric mapping using VOSviewer. The findings indicate that the implementation of PBL integrated with local wisdom is effective in improving students’ scientific literacy through investigation activities, problem-solving, and discussions based on local contextual phenomena. The most frequently studied topics include ecology, interactions between living organisms and their environment, and biotechnology. Bibliometric analysis also revealed a strong relationship among the keywords “PBL,” “local wisdom,” and “scientific literacy.” These findings contribute to the development of contextual, meaningful, and relevant science learning that aligns with students’ daily lives.

Abstract

Purpose - This study aims to develop a valid, practical, and effective Vlog-based learning tool, integrated with the local wisdom of Kampung Semanggi Surabaya, to train high school students' creative thinking skills in ecosystem materials.Methodology - This research is a development study using the ADDIE model, which comprises five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The tools developed include teaching modules, student worksheets, Vlog media, and pretest-posttest instruments. The research subjects consisted of three expert validators, field observers, and 10th-grade high school students in the trial stage. Data were collected through validation sheets, observation sheets, and creative thinking skills tests. Data analysis was performed using percentages for validity and practicality and N-Gain calculations for effectiveness.Findings - The results showed that the teaching modules, Vlog media, LKPD, and test instruments achieved 93.50%, 88.50%, 89.00%, and 88.25%, respectively, all in the highly valid category. The results of the practicality test, based on the implementation of learning, showed an average implementation of 97.7% and a highly practical rating. The effectiveness test results showed an increase in students' creative thinking skills, as indicated by pretest-posttest scores, with an N-Gain value in the moderate range.Contribution - This study contributes to the development of a local wisdom-based biology learning tool that integrates digital media and the PjBL model, which has been proven effective in training students' creative thinking skills.

Abstract

Keterampilan berpikir kritis merupakan kemampuan penting dalam pembelajaran IPA karena murid dituntut mampu menganalisis fenomena, mengevaluasi informasi, dan menyusun kesimpulan berdasarkan bukti. Namun, keterampilan berpikir kritis murid masih menjadi tantangan, terutama ketika konsep IPA diajarkan secara abstrak dan belum dikaitkan dengan budaya serta pengalaman sehari-hari murid. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan perangkat pembelajaran guided inquiry–culturally responsive berbasis proses pelorodan Batik Sidoarjo guna meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis murid SMP pada materi asam-basa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian dan pengembangan dengan model 4D yang terdiri atas tahap define, design, develop, dan disseminate. Subjek penelitian adalah 32 murid kelas IX-5 SMPN 2 Tarik Sidoarjo. Data dikumpulkan melalui lembar validasi ahli, lembar observasi keterlaksanaan pembelajaran, angket respons murid, wawancara dengan pengrajin batik, serta tes keterampilan berpikir kritis berupa pretest dan posttest. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran memperoleh kategori sangat valid dengan skor validasi 92% hingga 100%. Keterlaksanaan pembelajaran juga tergolong sangat praktis dengan rata-rata 91%. Uji efektivitas menunjukkan skor rata-rata N-Gain sebesar 0,752 dengan kategori tinggi. Dengan demikian, perangkat pembelajaran guided inquiry–culturally responsive berbasis proses pelorodan Batik Sidoarjo valid, praktis, dan efektif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis murid dalam pembelajaran IPA.

Abstract

The education system is required to adapt to technological advancements. The demands of 21st-century competencies also emphasize the importance of having 4C skills (Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Creativity). One of the skills that needs special attention is critical thinking skills. The results of the 2022 PISA survey show that Indonesia's PISA scores have declined compared to 2018. The improvement of critical thinking skills is supported by the use of an appropriate learning model, namely Problem Based Learning. This research aims to produce PBL-based E-LKPD on biodiversity material to enhance students' critical thinking skills, which is deemed effective. The development was carried out using the ADDIE model (analyze, design, development, implementation, evaluation). E-LKPD was tested on a limited basis with 36 tenth-grade students from SMA Negeri 9 Surabaya. Data were obtained through the results of pre-tests and post-tests based on five critical thinking indicators, which were then analyzed descriptively and quantitatively. The five critical thinking indicators practiced in the E-LKPD, pre-test, and post-test include interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, and explanation. The results of the study showed that the effectiveness of E-LKPD obtained an n-gain score of 0.92, which is included in the high improvement category, so that PBL-based E-LKPD is considered effective in improving students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Larva Plutella xylostella adalah hama pada tanaman dari famili Brassicaceae, utamanya caisim, kembang kol, kubis dan pakcoy. Hama larva P. xylostella menyerang daun tanaman sejak dari pembibitan hingga menjelang panen. Penggunaan pestisida nabati merupakan salah satu pengendalian alternatif yang lebih ramah lingkungan daripada menggunakan pestisida kimiawi, tanaman yang berpotensi sebagai pestisida nabati yakni tanaman Tithonia diversifolia dan Bidens pilosa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh ekstrak daun T. diversifolia dan B. pilosa dan kombinasinya terhadap mortalitas dan antifeedant P. xylostella. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dua faktorial yaitu jenis ekstrak dan konsentrasi ekstrak. Jenis ekstrak daun yang digunakan yaitu ekstrak daun T. diversifolia dan B. pilosa, dan kombinasi keduanya dengan konsentrasi 4%, 8%, 12%. Penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan 3 kali ulangan dengan tiap ulangan menggunakan 10 ekor larva instar III dari P. xylostella. Parameter penelitian adalah mortalitas dan antifeedant P. xylostella. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis Anova Two-Way dan uji lanjutan Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh jenis ekstrak dan konsentrasi terhadap mortalitas dan antifeedant larva. Perlakuan paling efektif adalah ekstrak kombinasi (T. diversifolia dan B. pilosa) dan ekstrak tunggal T. diversifolia pada konsentrasi 12% yaitu menyebabkan mortalitas sebesar 80% dan 73.33% serta menyebabkan antifeedant sebesar 79,51% dan 77,46%. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan potensi penggunaan ekstrak tunggal maupun kombinasi tanaman sebagai pestisida nabati dalam pengendalian hama P. xylostella yang lebih ramah lingkungan.
