Abstract

Willingness to Pay (WTP) is a method used to ascertain the extent to which individuals are willing to contribute financially to the protection of a specific tourist destination, in this case, the Rammang-Rammang Karst Mountains. It provides insight into the level of financial support tourists are prepared to offer for the preservation of an environment. The objective of this study is to ascertain the factors that influence visitors' willingness to pay for the development of tourist attractions and to determine the value of their WTP. This will enable the establishment of price rates based on their willingness to travel to the Rammang-Rammang Karst Mountains. This research is quantitative in nature, employing data collection techniques such as observation, questionnaires, and interviews with open-ended questions. The findings of the study indicate that the mean value of the WTP among visitors is Rp. The mean value of the WTP is 14,390. This value is greater than the entrance fee rate that has been implemented by the current Rammang-Rammang Karst Mountains tourism manager (POKDARWIS). A number of factors have been identified as influencing the willingness of visitors to pay, including the level of education, income, and the amount of time spent at tourist sites.

Abstract

Urban farming is an attempt to utilise the limited space available in urban areas for ecological, aesthetic, financial purposes and to fulfil food needs in urban areas. Urban farming in Makassar City is developed by forming farmer women groups (KWT) in each alley by producing a variety of commercially useful crops, such as chillies. Chilli is an important commodity as it is a major contributor to inflation. To increase the availability, quantity and quality of chillies, urban agriculture has the potential to become a platform for agribusiness development. This research aims to identify internal and external environmental conditions, formulate and determine priority strategies in the development of urban farming-based agribusiness of chilli commodities in Makassar City. This research was approached with SWOT analysis and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). The results showed that the agribusiness development strategy is in quadrant I (Growth oriented strategy) with alternative priorities namely improving the quantity and quality of chilli production through the use of assistance and technology, increasing the motivation of KWT members, maximising the use of technology by utilising cultivation and processing technology and collaborating with other KWT.

Abstract

Graphical Abstract Highlight Research 1. Fishermen continue fishing during extreme weather despite higher risks and reduced income to sustain their households. 2. Fishing decisions are influenced by education, engine power, and income potential, while experience and family size have less impact. 3. Fishing income declines significantly in extreme weather, with fuel costs being the main factor affecting profits. 4. Adaptation strategies include income diversification, adjusting fishing locations, and modifying gear to cope with climate uncertainties. 5. Policies should support climate adaptation, financial security, and alternative livelihoods for small-scale fishing communities.     Abstract Extreme weather, attributed to global climate change, has altered the economic behaviour of small-scale fishing households in coastal areas.  This study aims to analyse the economic behaviour of fishermen by investigating their fishing decisions using a logistic regression model using the maximum likelihood estimation method and their fishing business income through a normalized profit function. The research employed a quantitative research method with a survey approach conducted in the western coastal region of Barru Regency, Indonesia. The research sample consisted of 209 fishing households.  The findings reveal that fishermen fish during extreme weather conditions to meet their household's economic needs, even though their earnings are diminished. Various factors, including the power of the boat engine, fishermen's age and education level, and the potential income from fishing, influence the decision to fish during extreme weather. Additionally, engine fuel prices, education levels, and the number of dependents in the family also impact fishers' income during extreme weather.  The most important factor influencing the decision to fish in extreme weather conditions is formal education. Another factor that has the greatest impact on fishermen's income, both in the fishing season and during extreme weather, is the price of engine fuel. Fishermen can adapt to events triggered by extreme weather by implementing specific strategies. For instance, diversifying income by aquaculture production can be an alternative to sea fishing. Diversifying the types of fishing gear to accommodate different weather conditions is equally crucial. Fishing periods and locations can be adjusted to align with prevailing weather conditions. The contribution and significance of this research is to provide insight and understanding of the impact of extreme weather on fishing decisions and changes in the income of capture fishermen. This condition is the economic behaviour of small-scale fishing households in coastal areas when faced with extreme weather events.

Abstract

The existence of erratic seasonal changes and the increasingly narrow area of agricultural land has caused changes in agricultural commodities production, which have decreased in Makassar City. The decrease in production also causes a decrease in farm income, thus affecting farmers' household income. This research was conducted in Makassar City, Indonesia, aims to estimate the impact of social and regional differences on household income. An econometric model approach with a qualitative independent variable regression estimation method is used in this analysis. We used the explanatory method with sample areas in the sub-districts of Tamalate, Biringkanaya, Manggala, and Tamalanrea as centers of food commodity production in Makassar City. Based on the time dimension using cross-sectional data. The sample of research respondents purposively were 165 farmers. The results showed that farmers' household income in Makassar City came from the agricultural and non-agricultural sectors. The social variables (wife's education and farmer group) and regional differences significantly affect farmers' household income. In contrast, a farmer's age and household size as a social variable have no significant effect. The involvement of agricultural households in urban areas will significantly support food availability, even though farming families consume more products than sell them. Therefore, the application of technology and innovation as well as farmer regeneration can increase agricultural production and impact the household economy. In addition, food availability can overcome food insecurity and security towards sustainable urban agriculture.

Abstract

This study discusses the legal reconstruction related to the restriction of land ownership of the Right to Use (HGU) by plantation companies from the perspective of social justice. The concentration of land ownership by large corporations often results in injustice for local communities and small farmers. The study aims to identify key issues in current HGU regulation and propose legal measures that can support a more equitable distribution of land as well as the recognition of the rights of indigenous and local peoples. The research method used is a normative study with a legislative approach and public policy analysis. The data used includes laws and regulations, academic literature, and reports from various related institutions. The results of the study show that it is necessary to limit the maximum area of HGU that can be owned by plantation companies, accelerate the agrarian reform program, and increase transparency and public participation in the process of granting HGU. In addition, stricter supervision and effective law enforcement are also very important to prevent abuse of business use rights. This study concludes that legal reconstruction that prioritizes the principle of social justice can reduce the land ownership gap and improve community welfare. The recommendations submitted are expected to be the basis for policymakers in formulating fairer and more sustainable regulations in the agrarian sector. Keywords: Land; Ulayat; Use; Effort.
