Abstract

Abstract

This research aims to describe the navigation strategies of homeless women farmers in dealing with local socio-economic dynamics in Konda District, South Konawe Regency. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach to explore the navigation strategies of homeless women farmers in dealing with local socio-economic dynamics in Konda District, South Konawe Regency. This approach was chosen because it allows for an in-depth exploration of the experiences, perspectives and strategies applied by women farmers in dealing with the challenges they face. Data collection techniques were carried out through in-depth interviews, participant observation and documentation, using qualitative descriptive analysis. The results of the research show that the navigation strategies of homeless women farmers in facing local socio-economic dynamics are carried out through: developing social networks, resource management skills, revenue strategy , as well as household economic diversification strategies. In fact, the household economic diversification strategy is an effective adaptive approach for homeless women farmers in facing local socio-economic dynamics. By utilizing local skills, managing risks and creating alternative income, they are able to increase the economic resilience of their families. However, the success of this strategy is highly dependent on inclusive policy support, access to resources, and reduction of structural barriers. Through economic diversification, women farmers not only survive economic challenges but also contribute to social development and community empowerment at the local level.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how the transformation of female farmers' roles in the informal sector impacts social structure and gender relations within agrarian communities in Konda District, South Konawe Regency. Women who were previously confined to domestic roles are now increasingly active as economic agents in informal sectors, including subsistence agriculture, local trade, and home-based agro-enterprises. Using a descriptive qualitative approach and in-depth interviews with 15 key informants, the study finds that this role transformation has stimulated a reorganization of social structures, particularly through the growing recognition of women’s productive contributions in public community spaces. Findings indicate that despite facing structural barriers such as limited access to resources and double workload burdens, female farmers are developing adaptive strategies based on social networks, symbolic capital, and local cultural values. This process signifies a significant shift in power relations between men and women at both household and community levels. Therefore, inclusive and gender-responsive policies are needed to strengthen the position of female farmers as agents of social transformation and sustainable rural developmen

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between care burden and gender inequality in the construction of social welfare in rural communities. This study uses a qualitative approach with case study methods in rural communities, through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and analysis of local social policy documents. The findings show that women bear a double burden: as the main responsible for domestic work and unpaid care, as well as as economic actors in supporting household incomes. This burden not only limits women's access to productive resources and social mobility, but also reproduces structural inequalities in the distribution of welfare. In addition, social protection policies tend to assume women as beneficiaries as well as managers of family welfare, without substantively reducing the burden of care they bear. This study concludes that care work is a key element of social welfare in rural areas, but it is mostly imposed on women. Women must carry out a dual role, namely taking care of the household while earning a living, so that their opportunities to develop are limited. This causes gender inequality to continue to occur. This research contributes to strengthening the sociological perspective of welfare by placing care work as a central arena in the analysis of gender inequality and social policy.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze gender inequality in marine resource management in coastal communities by highlighting power relations, gender-based division of labor, and women's access and control over productive resources. The research draws on feminist political economy perspectives and institutional theory to explain how cultural norms, social structures, and marine policies affect the position of women in fisheries activities and coastal economies. The research method uses a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and participatory observation of women fishermen, seafood processors, and micro business actors in coastal areas. The findings of the study show that women have an important role in the fisheries economic chain, especially in processing activities, marketing of marine products, and household financial management. However, these contributions are often not recognized in local policies and institutions. Women also face barriers to access productive assets, fishing technology, venture capital, and decision-making space, thereby strengthening their economic and political marginalization. In addition, gender-biased division of labor still places women in vulnerable domestic and informal sector jobs without adequate social protection. On the other hand, coastal women are developing a range of collective strategies through social networks, joint venture groups, and community solidarity to expand their participation in the management of marine resources. This study concludes that fair and sustainable governance of marine resources requires gender-responsive marine policies, strengthening women's institutions, and expanding access to economic resources and decision-making.
