Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of noni fruit extract on the internal quality, foam index, and haugh unit of layers eggs. This research has been carried out at the Chemistry Laboratory of Widya Mandira University Kupang, and the Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Timor, Kefamenanu during February 12, until March 25, 2020. This study used eggs of layer chicken, each treatment using 25 eggs. The method used was a completely randomized design with a one-way pattern consisting of 5 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments given were T0 (control), T1 (2 ml noni fruit extract), T2 (4 ml noni fruit extract), T3 (6 ml noni fruit extract), and T4 (ampicillin). The variables observed were egg weight, air sac diameter, albumen height, egg yolk index, foam leakage, foam index, and Haugh unit. The results of statistical analysis showed the effect of noni fruit extract on egg weight, air sac diameter, foam leakage, foam index, and Haugh unit value. The mean value of each variable showed that the 6 ml (T3) noni extract treatment was better than the other treatments (T0, T1, T2, and T4). It was concluded that to maintain egg quality for up to 21 days, could be preserved with a concentration of 6% noni fruit extract.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of calcium supplementation in feed on the blood profile of broilers chickens. This research was conducted in a broiler chicken coop, owned by breeders in Sasi Village, Kefamenanu City District, North Central East District. This research was conducted from July to August 2020. This study used 96 broilers. The method used in this was a completely randomized design consisting of 4 replications and 4 treatments. The treatments given were T0 (control diet), T1 (calcium supplementation 1,00 %), T2 (calcium supplementation 1,50 %), T3 (calcium supplementation 2,00 %). The variables observed in this study were the content of erythrocytes, hemoglobin, and blood leucocytes. The data obtained were analyzed using analysis of variance. Analysis of variance showed that the treatment had no significant effect on erythrocytes, hemoglobin, and leucocytes of broiler chickens. It was concluded that the addition of calcium in feed at different levels did not increase the content of erythrocytes, hemoglobin, and leucocytes of broiler chickens aged 6 weeks.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the influence of feeding different levels of protein in feed on the dimensions of the body of the village chicken grower phase (6-14 weeks), to find out the addition of amino acids treonine and tryptophan in feed to the dimensions of the body of the village chicken grower phase (6-14 weeks) and to know the interaction of protein leveling and the addition of amino acids treonine and tryptophan in feed to the dimensions of the body of the village chicken grower phase (6-14 weeks). This research has been conducted in Sasi Subdistrict, Kefamenanu City District, North Central Timor Regency for 8 weeks from October-December 2020. This study used 6 weeks old native chickens as many as 120 heads. The method used in this study is a complete random design of factorial patterns of 2 x 3 i.e. 2 levels of amino acids and 3 levels of coarse protein. Treatment given A1C1 (treonine 0.50% + tryptophan 0.15% + protein 15%), A1C2 (treonine 0.50% + tryptophan 0.15% + protein 17%), A1C3 (treonine 0.50% + tryptophan 0.15% + protein 19%), A2C1 (treonine 0.75% + tryptophan 0.20% + protein 15%), A2C2 (treonine 0.75% + tryptophan 0.20% + protein 17%), A2C3 (treonine 0.75% + tryptophan 0.20% + protein 19%). The variables observed in this study were weight, chest circumference, body length, length of sternum, femur length, tibia length, shank length, shank circumference and finger length. The data obtained was analyzed using variance analysis and multiple distance tests. Statistical analysis showed that crude protein levels had an unreal effect on chest circumference, body length, breastbone length, femur length, tibia length, shank length, shank circumference and finger length. Levels of amino acids (treonine + tryptophan) have a noticeable effect on weight, chest circumference, body length, length of sternum, tibia length, shank length and finger length. There is an interaction between amino acids (treonine + tryptophan) and crude protein levels against chest circumference, femur length, shank circumference and finger length.

Abstract

Objective: Calcium and phosphorus are macrominerals that are needed for metabolism and mineralization of chicken bones. This study aims to determine the growth performance and tibial profile of broiler chicken strain CP 707 which are fed by using different calcium-phosphorus balance compositions.Methods: This research was conducted in Kefamenanu, the East Nusa Tenggara for 42 days. A total of 96 day old chicks were used in this study. Chickens were allocated in 16 units of cages, based on a completely randomized design consisting of 4 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments given were T0 (control feed without calcium-phosphorus supplementation), T1 (control feed + 1.0% calcium + 0.5% phosphorus), T2 (control feed + 1.5% calcium + 0.5% phosphorus) and T3 (control feed + 2.0% calcium + 0.5% phosphorus).Results: The findings showed that the calcium-phosphorus ratio affected weight gain, feed conversion, carcass weight, tibial bone weight, tibial bone dry weight and tibial bone ash content (P<0.05), while feed consumption and tibial bone length were not significant. The highest body weight was in T3 (2142.25±31.84 g/bird) with a weight gain of 62.41±2.20 g/bird/day. The best feed conversions at T2 and T3 were 1.94±0.33 and 1.85±0.70. The highest carcass weight at T3 was 1354.45±39.12 g/bird with a carcass percentage of 63.20±0.32%. The highest tibial weight at T2 and T3 were 18.57±0.73 and 19.43±0.66 g/bird with dry weight of 40.61±0.75 and 41.42±1.33%. The highest tibial bone ash content was at T3, namely 44.72±0.91%.Conclusions: The conclusion of this study is that the balance of 2.0% calcium and 0.5% phosphorus provides optimal growth performance and tibial profile.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the quality of semen microscopically in male free-range chickens supplemented with L-Arginine and L-Lysine in the feed. The study used 43 male free-range chickens aged 3 months, and data collection was taken when the chickens were 5 months old. The treatments consisted of T1: control feed + L-Arginine 0,4 g + L-Lysine 0,6 g; T2: Control feed + L-Arginine 0,6 g + L-Lysine 0,6 g; T3: Control feed + L-Arginine 0,4 g + L-Lysine 0,8 g; and T4: Control feed + L-Arginine 0,6 g + L-Lysine 0,8 g. The variables observed in this study were motility, viability, and spermatozoa abnormalities. The highest mean mass motility value was found in treatment (T4) of 2,6±0,93 and individual motility, the highest average value was also found in (T4) 80±13,32%, the highest mean viability was found in (T2) of 95±1,58%, and the lowest mean abnormal is found in (T1) of 13,5±1,60%. Statistical analysis showed that the administration of the amino acids L-Arginine and L-Lysine with different levels had a significant effect on viability while on mass motility; individual motility and abnormal spermatozoa had no significant effect. It was concluded that the use of L-arginine 0,6 g and L-lysine 0,6 g supplemented in the free-range chicken feed had a significant effect on spermatozoa viability while mass motility, individual motility and abnormal spermatozoa had no significant effect.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the macro quality of Kampung Chicken semen supplemented with L-Arginine and L-Lysin HCl in the feed. This study used 43 domestic chickens aged 3 months, and data collection was carried out when the chickens were 5 months old. The method used in this study is an experimental method using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 5 replications so that there are 20 experimental units. The treatments given included treatment T1 (Control Feed + L-Lysine 0,6% + L-Arginine 0,4%), T2 (Control Feed + L-Lysine 0,6% + L-Arginine 0,6%), T3 (Control Feed + L-Lysine 0,8% + L-Arginine 0,4%), and T4 (Control Feed + L-Lysine 0,8% + L-Arginine 0,6%). The data obtained were then analyzed descriptively to obtain qualitative data, and an Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was performed to obtain quantitative data. Statistical analysis showed that the semen volume of Kampung Chicken supplemented with amino acids L-Lysine and L-Arginine in the feed had a significant effect (P<0,05) on the volume and pH of the semen. Furthermore, the results of the descriptive test of supplementation of amino acids L-Arginine and L-Lysine in the feed had no significant effect on the quality of semen odour, semen colour, and consistency/viscosity of Kampung Chicken semen. Based on the study's results, it can be concluded that adding amino acids L-Lysine and L-Arginine to feed can increase the macro quality of Kampung Chicken semen, including volume, colour, odour, consistency/thickness, and pH.

Abstract

This study aimed to isolate LAB from the intestines of native chickens and to test the ability of LAB activity against pathogenic bacteria. Bacterial isolation was carried out by taking chicken intestines, then diluting up to 102. The results of the dilution were taken 1 ml to be inoculated into MRSA media using the pour plate technique, streak plate technique was used to obtain pure cultures and then incubated at 37˚C for 24 hours. LAB culture testing for pathogenic bacteria was carried out using MHA media containing Escherichia coli cultures, then incubation for 120 hours at 37˚C. Observation parameters included colony shape, colony color, number of LAB colonies, the diameter of the clear zone and LAB colonies. The results showed that the bacteria isolated from the intestines of native chickens were LAB which had around colony shape and were yellowish-white (beige)-milky white. The number of LAB colonies obtained was 3.7 x 105 CFU/ml with the best inhibitory ability of pathogenic bacteria found in USA 3 isolates (1.85 cm clear zone; 0.90 cm colony size) after incubation for 120 hours.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh suplementasi tepung kaliandra (Calliandra calothyrsus) terhadap bobot hidup dan profil karkas ayam broiler. Penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan pada kandang masyarakat di Kelurahan Sasi, Kota Kefamenanu dan berlangsung selama 7 minggu; sejak bulan Februari sampai April 2021. Penelitian ini menggunakan 96 ekor ayam broiler umur 14 hari. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap pola searah yang terdiri dari 4 ulangan 4 perlakuan. Perlakuan yang diberikan meliputi P₀: 100% pakan komersial (kontrol), P₁: tepung kaliandra 1,5% dalam ransum komersial, P₂: tepung kaliandra 3% dalam ransum komersial, P₃: tepung kaliandra 4,5% dalam ransum komersial. Variabel yang diamati dalam penelitian adalah berat hidup, berat karkas, berat dada, berat paha atas, dan berat paha bawah ayam broiler. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan sidik ragam dan Uji Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa suplementasi tepung daun kaliandra (Calliandra calothyrsus) sebesar 4,5% dalam pakan dapat meningkatkan pertambahan bobot hidup dan profil karkas ayam broiler. Analisis statistik menunjukkan bahwa suplementasi tepung daun kaliandra berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap variabel penelitian. Disimpulkan bahwa suplementasi tepung daun kaliandra dapat meningkatkan berat hidup dan profil karkas ayam broiler.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian suplemen organik cair GDM terhadap pertumbuhan, pertambahan bobot badan, konsumsi pakan, dan konversi pakan pada Ayam Kampung (Gallus domesticus) yang dipelihara. Penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan di kandang Program Studi Peternakan, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Timor selama 12 minggu; sejak bulan Januari sampai Maret 2022. Penelitian ini menggunakan 20 ekor Ayam Kampung berumur 8 minggu. Metode yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap yang terdiri dari 4 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan dengan masing-masing ulangan menggunakan 1 ekor ayam. Perlakuan yang diberikan adalah R0 (tanpa suplemen organik cair GDM), R1 (suplemen organik cair GDM 0,3 ml), R2 (suplemen organik cair GDM 0,5 ml), dan R3 (suplemen organik cair GDM 0,7 ml). Variabel dalam penelitian ini meliputi pertambahan bobot badan, konsumsi pakan, dan konversi pakan. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan sidik ragam (ANOVA) dan dilanjutkan dengan Uji Jarak Berganda Duncan. Hasil penelitian perlakuan R0, R1, R2, dan R3 berturut-turut menunjukkan bahwa pertambahan berat sebesar 127,00±2,54, 137,40±3,91, 138,60±2,88, dan 128,00±5,38 g/ekor/minggu; konsumsi pakan sebesar 758,308±38,45, 724,286±13,91, 710,056±18,69, dan 741,424±73,15 g/ekor/minggu; serta konversi pakan sebesar 5,972±0,33, 5,274±0,14, 5,122±0,07, dan 5,788±0,42. Analisis sidik ragam menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan suplemen organik cair GDM berbeda nyata terhadap pertambahan bobot badan dan konversi pakan (P<0,05) sedangkan konsumsi pakan tidak signifikan. Disimpulkan bahwa suplemen organik cair GDM 0,3 dan 0,5 yang dicampurkan kedalam air minum memberikan hasil terbaik pada pertambahan bobot badan dan konversi pakan Ayam Kampung.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the effect of supplementation of L-isoleucine in feed on the reproductive organ profile of Native chickens at the pullet phase. This research was carried out from April to July 2023 at Sasi Village, Kota Kefamenanu Sub-District, North Central Timor Regency. A total of 100 Native chickens aged 6 weeks with an average weight of 400 g were used in this study. The research method used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments and 5 replications. Each replication consisted of 4 Native chickens. The treatments given were T0 (feed without L-isoleucine), T1 (T0 + 0.05% L-isoleucine), T2 (T0 + 0.15% L-isoleucine), T3 (T0 + 0.25% L-isoleucine), and T4 (T0 + 0.35% L-isoleucine). The variables observed were the weight of the ovaries, the distance between the 2 pubic bones, the distance between the pubic bone and the sternum, testicular weight and testicular volume. The data obtained were analyzed using analysis of variance and Duncan's test. The results showed that the ovarian weight for T0, T1, T2, and T3 and T4 were 1.14 ± 0.18; 1.43±0.12; 2.26±0.53; 1.76 ± 0.34 and 1.33 ± 0.27 g/head, respectively. The distance between the 2 pubic bones were 21.04 ± 0.49; 22.70±0.61; 25.40±0.82; 23.90 ± 0.46 and 22.08 ± 0.63 mm/head, respectively. The distance between the pubic bone and the sternum were 31.82 ± 1.93; 33.60±1.10; 37.04±2.36; 33.76 ± 1.27 and 31.56 ± 0.93 mm/head, respectively. Testicular weight were 5.56 ± 0.42; 6.15±1.48; 7.58±0.47; 6.80 ± 0.43 and 6.16 ± 0.40 g/head, respectively. Testicular volume were 5.04 ± 0.55; 5.82±0.41; 7.14 ± 0.50; 6.58 ± 0.47 and 6.06 ± 0.28 mL/head, respectively. Statistical analysis showed that treatment had a significant effect on ovary weight, the distance between the 2 pubic bones, the distance between the pubic bone and the sternum, testicular weight and testicular volume in Kampung chickens (P<0.05). It was concluded that the use of 0.15% L-isoleucine in feed gave the best results on ovary weight, distance between 2 pubic bones, distance between pubic bone and breast bone, testicular weight and testicular volume in pullet phase Native chickens.
