Abstract

Working husbands and wives often spend limited time together, and some women work on shift-based schedules. However, the scarcity of family time does not pose a problem for these couples. Consequently, the significance of interpersonal communication in male-female relationships lies in establishing gender dynamics within the family. This study aims to elucidate gender communication patterns in working couples and identify a division of labor that fosters family harmony. Employing qualitative research methods and a case study approach, the study analyzes the data through the lens of relational dialectic theory. The findings reveal that interpersonal communication plays a pivotal role in male-female relationships, enabling gender dynamics to flourish even when women have better careers and higher incomes than their male partners. Consequently, husbands' roles in domestic life remain intact, as they actively support their wives' career choices.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the marketing communications of coffee shops in the city of Padang through a study of traditional and modern coffee shops. This study uses qualitative research methods and types of case study research and analyzes them using the Elaboration Likelihood Theory. The results of the first study show that marketing communications through Word of Mouth in coffee shops play a very large role in coffee sales. This Word of Mouth promotion is marked by people who have subscribed and will invite their family or friends to enjoy coffee at the shop. The impact of this Word of Mouth promotion is marked by the enthusiasm of customers visiting coffee shops, the use of working space as an effort to promote modern coffee shops, the use of coffee shops as public spaces, and the absence of gaps between women and men. Second, efforts to maintain the existence of coffee shops in the city of Padang can be seen in the characteristics of coffee shops that adapt to contemporary concepts, are able to establish interactions with customers, and actively carry out product innovations.

Abstract

The presence of a healthy family communication is crucial in instilling High Order Thinking Skills  in children. That is why we need to seek insights from families who have implemented such communication. The purpose of this research is to explore the experiences of family communication in cultivating High Order Thinking Skills  in high-achieving students at SMP Negeri 1 Padang. This study employs a qualitative method with Edmund Husserl's phenomenological approach. The research findings reveal that the experiences of family communication in instilling High Order Thinking Skills  in high-achieving students at SMP Negeri 1 Padang include open and collaborative discussions with children to stimulate their reasoning abilities, storytelling with children about emotionally engaging narratives to develop reflective thinking, communicating with empathy to build strong emotional bonds with children, conveying well-directed boundaries to foster analytical and critical evaluation skills in children, creating a comfortable atmosphere for communication to establish a solid parent-child bond, actively listening to children's stories with undivided attention to encourage their ability to express opinions, engaging in bedtime and school departure conversations to sharpen children's creative thinking, and interactive deep talks to encourage alternative thinking and innovative solutions in children.

Abstract

The number of reported cases of sexual violence is still not directly proportional to the existing reality. Many of the victims deliberately chose to remain silent about the events they experienced. This is based on the condition of the victim who has no friends to tell her about her feelings of confusion, fear, and lack of knowledge about what to do after the sexual violence that happened to her. This article discusses the interpersonal communication of companions in Nurani Perempuan with victims of sexual violence in West Sumatra. This study aims to analyze interpersonal communication activities by Nurani Perempuan Women's Crisis Center as a companion with victims of sexual violence in West Sumatra. This study uses a constructivist paradigm with a case study research approach. Methods of collecting research data by conducting observations, in-depth interviews with assistants to victims of sexual violence at Nurani Perempuan, and documentation. The results of the study show that the interpersonal communication from the companion to the victims is not completely the same. In order for the victim to want to talk in depth about what happened to them, the companion must gain the trust of the victim. The communication process is also influenced by gender, character, and also the type of case experienced by each victim. Nurani Perempuan companion in the recovery of victims also always listens to victims' stories and shows a willingness to help victims so they can get up and move on with their lives.

Abstract

Fenomena penggunaan media internet menciptakan ruang kerja Public Relations disebut Cyber Public Relations. Cyber Public Relations ini berhubungan dengan perkembangan teknologi yang sudah gencar penerapannya pada PR 4.0. Perkembangan website pun tidak terlepas dari sarana dan prasarana yang memadai serta Sumber Daya Manusia (SDM) diiringi dengan kegiatan komunikasi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis konsep-konsep pengalaman komunikasi pegawai Cyber PR Pemerintah Kabupaten Merangin dalam Pengelolaan Website. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan paradigma konstruktivisme dibantu dengan teori fenomenologi oleh Edmund Hussrel. Hasil penelitian ini menyebutkan bahwa konsep pengalaman komunikasi pegawai Cyber PR yaitu kolaborasi tim dan komunikasi cikat yang dapat membuat kerja sama tim lebih baik. Kolaborasi dari kedua elemen ini memberikan dampak yang signifikan terhadap sinergitas antar tim sehingga memberikan hasil yang baik dalam mencapai tujuan organisasi.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has changed the business structure of the music industry. The presence of social media and music streaming services adds to the size of the music industry itself, starting from the intersection of various actors (music labels, artists/musicians, music streaming service applications, music consumers), interests (business and state regulations), to power (distribution networks), especially in the perspective of the political economy of communication. In the context of this research, the object of research is the independent music label Sun Eater. This study uses a qualitative research method with an intrinsic case study approach. In line with that the data collection used is observation, in-depth interviews and documentation studies. The results of this study indicate that the content commodification carried out by Sun Eater as a music label is not focused on the music itself. But it wraps up the issues of today's youth and makes them like lyrics, pictures and videos. In audience commodification, Sun Eater does not put the audience as mere music fans. However, with a consumer-centric and data driven approach, Sun Eater treats their audience (music fans) like mass media, by “selling” back on advertisers on various digital platforms. Finally, the Commodification of Workers, that musicians are not just music workers. Moreover, Sun Eater places musicians as workers who have other responsibilities, ranging from filming digital content, interacting with fans on social media, to photo shoots with advertisers.

Abstract

Taman Melati adalah kawasan prostitusi terselubung di Kota Padang yang bukansebuah rahasia umum lagi bagi masyarakat kota Padang. Lokasi yang terletak di Jantung KotaPadang, yakni Jalan Diponegoro ini, menyajikan suasana yang berbeda ketika tengah malamtiba. Kawasan tersebut berubah menjadi lokasi yang strategis bagi pekerja seks komersial(PSK) untuk melayani pria hidung belang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskiripsikanbagaimana bentuk pengelolaan kesan PSK dengan menggunakan teori dramaturgis. Dari 4orang informan yang di peroleh melalui purposive sampling, kemudian dilakukan wawancarasecara mendalam serta observasi partisipan, hasil penelitian menunjukkan manajemen kesanyang dilakukan PSK dalam tampilan depan (front stage) yakni terlihat dalam komunikasiverbal dan non verbal mereka. Dalam komunikasi verbal memakai bahasa manja, memujadan membujuk setiap pria berkendaraan roda empat yang berhenti dihadapan mereka.Sementara komunikasi non verbal, lebih pada penampilan all out dengan menggunakanpakaian seksi dan make up yang menggoda. Di area panggung belakang (back stage), PSKmembentuk kesan sebagai orang biasa dalam lingkungan sosial.Kata Kunci: PSK, manajemen komunikasi, dramaturgi

Abstract

This research aims to describe how the communication process of the Health Office in gay counseling in Padang city . Researchers also tried to analyze the factors emergence of gay presence reality in Padang City and found a model of health communication conducted by the Padang City Health Office in Gay. The research method used is a Qualitative Approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and FGD techniques. First, the existence and appearance of gays in Padang City are caused by hedonism. Second Communication Model The communication process developed by the Padang City Health Office is carried out by someone who has been appointed as a Counselor. counseling is done from the initial stage through consultation, planning, and persuasive approaches and adjusting the character of each gay so that the communication process can continue as expected by the counselor. Even though the Health Office has not had a significant impact on changing deviant behavior patterns, Gay is trying to receive messages from the counselor, whether he likes it or not about the negative effects of being a man who likes the same sex. In the Message Delivering the Counselor uses the media that is in addition to direct communication face to face indirect communication is also done actively by utilizing the use of social media namely Whatapps as a communication tool between counselor and gay

Abstract

Andalas University is one of the best public universities in West Sumatra, which facilitates awarding the Indonesia Smart College Card (KIP-K) scholarship to its students. In 2022, issues or allegations of procedural irregularities emerged during the KIP-K acceptance selection at Andalas University. This study aimed to analyze the communication strategy through issue management carried out by public relations at Andalas University in overcoming the issue of alleged irregularities in the 2022 KIP-K admission procedure at Andalas University. This study used a qualitative descriptive method, and data collection techniques were carried out through observation and in-depth interviews. The data analysis technique used in this study used the Miles and Huberman interactive data analysis model, divided into three activities: data reduction, data modeling, and conclusion drawing. The study results show that the communication strategy implemented by Andalas University's public relations in addressing issues is by implementing five stages of issue management: problem identification, probelem analysis, issue change strategy planning, issue action program implementation, and outcome evaluation. With the implementation of all stages in issue management as a form of communication strategy by Andalas University, the negative issues that developed at Andalas University could be controlled until, finally, these issues diminished and almost disappeared, which can be proven by not finding any media that informs about the subject.

Abstract

Pengulangan tindak pidana atau yang biasa dikenal dengan istilah Residivis semakin marak terjadi. Hal ini menjadi suatu perhatian khusus bagi aparat penegak hukum seperti Kepolisian, Kejaksaan, Pengadilan serta Pemasyarakatan. Pemasyarakatan yang menjadi sorotan disini adalah Pembimbing Kemasyarakatan dari Balai Pemasyarakatan. PK merupakan petugas pemasyarakatan yang melaksanakan tugas pembimbingan klien pemasyarakatan disebut sebagai Pembimbing Kemasyarakatan (PK). Selama pelaksanaan proses pembimbingan, komunikasi berperan penting terhadap keberhasilan suatu bimbingan. Pengalaman komunikasi PK dengan klien pemasyarakatan dalam proses bimbingan merupakan pengalaman yang layak diteliti. Adapun tujuan penelitian adalah bagaimana komunikasi Pembimbing Kemasyarakatan (PK) dengan klien pemasyarakatan selama pelaksanaan proses pembimbingan di Balai Pemasyarakatan Kelas II Bukittinggi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Fenomenologi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah fenomenologi Edmund Husserl. Proses pembimbingan yang dilakukan kepada klien pemasyarakatan di Balai Pemasyarakatan Kelas II Bukittinggi memiliki tujuan salah satunya agar klien pemasyarakatan dapat kembali ketengah-tengah masyarakat dengan baik serta tidak mengulangi tindak pidana. Komunikasi yang dibangun dalam proses bimbingan adalah komunikasi interpersonal. Keberhasilan dalam membentuk komunikasi interpersonal terdapat pada komunikator dalam hal ini adalah PK. PK harus mampu membangun kedekatan agar proses bimbingan berjalan dengan baik sehingga dapat membawa perubahan terhadap klien pemasyarakatan sehingga tidak melakukan tindak pidana lagi. Oleh sebab itu diperlukan peningkatan kualitas PK, sehingga dapat memberikan pengalaman yang terbaik juga untuk klien pemasyarakatan yang memerlukan bimbingan. Sebab sumber daya manusia PK yang berkualitas akan menentukan kepada keberhasilan klien pemasyarakatan untuk tidak mengulangi perbuatannya.
