Abstract

Setapuk Mangrove tourism has the potential to be developed into natural tourism because it has the potential in the form of natural scenery, rainbow bridges and mangrove areas with various attractions and tourism infrastructure. The purpose of the study was to explain the perception and satisfaction of visitors to the attractiveness of Setapuk Mangrove tourism through available facilities. The method used a survey with 50 visitors as research informants selected by accidental sampling. Data collection was conducted through observation and interviews using a list of questions. Data analysis was carried out in a qualitative descriptive manner. Visitors' perception of the Setapuk Mangrove tourism area feels interested and quite satisfied with tourist objects in the form of natural scenery, flora, fauna, beaches, rivers and roads/tracks. It is also supported by the condition of facilities, cleanliness, comfort, safety and satisfaction of visitors as well as the physical condition of tourist facilities and infrastructure that are available or well maintained. It is supported by several tourism activities that get satisfied assessments by visitors, namely when observing mangrove beaches by speedboat. Accessibility conditions that are not supportive and physical conditions of infrastructure that are not good are basically weaknesses as well as advantages, because accessibility in muddy conditions will get more attention from visitors/researchers with educational purposes that require elements of unity with nature so that these conditions remain original, so this area has potency for ecotourism

Abstract

Simpang Kasturi Village, Mandor District, Landak Regency has no plumbing services from PDAM but has quite good groundwater. Daily water must use river water and dug or drilled wells. Water from dug/drilled wells physically looks clear, odorless, and tasteless. Under certain conditions, well water can turn cloudy, colored, and smelly. The aim of Community Service (PKM) is to educate the public to increase knowledge about clean water processing and carry out processing independently. The activity was attended by 20 participants representing the community from 4 hamlets in Simpang Kasturi village, namely hamlets; Delan, Singkong Luar, Kasturi, and Bobor. Systematic implementation of PKM; providing material with lectures and discussions, demonstrations and practice in using clean water processing equipment, and evaluation. The method applied is a clean water purification method using coagulants and filtration Betel lime, alum and PAC are coagulants used to precipitate dissolved particles. The water then flows into a filter tube containing zeolite stone, charcoal, palm fiber, and sand as a filtration medium. The water that comes out of the filtration tube looks clean and clear. Clean water processing education has succeeded in increasing knowledge about clean water processing techniques, understanding the use of coagulants and filtration materials, and improving skills in carrying out water treatment independently.

Abstract

The Village Forest Management Institution (LPHD) Bumi Lestari of Penepian Raya Village has obtained a forest management license since 2014. Village forest is one of the social forestry schemes that aims to improve community welfare through the management of forest natural resources. However, the management must be based on sustainable forest sustainability because the forest is a vital support. This study aims to formulate a management strategy for Bumi Lestari Village Forest based on internal (strengths and weaknesses) and external (opportunities and threats) factors. The survey method was applied by collecting data through interviews with all administrators and members of LPHD Bumi Lestari. All internal and external factors were scored and weighted to find strategy priorities based on SWOT. Based on the value of all factors, the internal factor value was 0.52 and the external factor value was 0.92. Bumi Lestari Village Forest management strategy is in Quadrant I. Strategic opportunities on maximum utilization of strengths to use available opportunities. The existence of assistance and funding, can be utilized to increase institutional capacity in terms of administration, mastery of technology, and innovation of processed non-timber forest product derivatives. An effective marketing network is needed to overcome obstacles in the form of the large amount of transportation bias through waterways in the village. In the field of conservation, LPHD Bumi Lestari has been based on smart patrols but there is a need to increase the use of technology. Strengthening partnerships with the government, academics, private foundations, and fellow LPHDs can be a strength for LPHD Bumi Lestari for better village forest management.

Abstract

Forest ecosystem supports almost all of the needs of human being through its contribution of tangible and intangible values. Currently, the intangible values have gained less attention than the tangible values that cause underestimation of the total value of the forest conversion into other more tangibly profitable usages, and miss-management of the forest. One of the important intangible values is the hydrological value that has been hardly calculated until now. This research the intangible values of water for household, transportation, agriculture and fishing in Mendalam Sub Watershed, Kalimantan. The economic values calculated based on market prices, opportunity costs and consumer’s surplus methods. The results showed that based on the opportunity cost method the economic values of the hydrological services was about Rp 8,043,706,237.50 per year. Meanwhile, the economic values of the hydrological services based on the consumer’s surplus method gave lower value than the former method, i.e. Rp 8,031,351,664.60 per year. This study showed that the economic value of the hydrological services was very high, which has not been included in the calculation yet. However, without trees there would be no forest and all other values included water value would not exist. Consequently, current forest management should put forest ecosystem as important to consider.

Abstract

Aren genjah is a superior national palm germplasm with high economic potential. Kandolo Village is the only village in Teluk Pandan District where many residents cultivate aren genjah for their livelihood. This study aims to map the potential of aren genjah, compare the characteristics of aren genjah with other commodities, and arrange recommendations for developing aren genjah agroindustry. This study employs a survey method involving 30 farmers selected through purposive sampling. Data was collected through observation and interviews using a list of questions. Data analysis was carried out in a qualitative descriptive with the SWOT method. Aren genjah cultivation continues to be developed as a raw material for the agroindustry by considering land area and market share. In Kandolo Village, agricultural land is dominated by Aren genjah cultivation rather than other commodities. However, the number of farmers cultivating ganja is tiny, as most prefer plantation crops, vegetables, and fruits. The sustainability of the Aren genjah agroindustry is supported by the high market demand for various derivative products. Therefore, a development strategy is required through innovation and product promotion integrated with the development of tourist attractions and local Small and Medium enterprises (SMEs).
