Abstract

Mappasikarawa is one of the ceremonies or processions involved in traditional Bugis weddings in Sencalang Village, Keritang District, Indragiri Hilir Regency. In the Mappasikrawa tradition there are symbolic aspects that have certain meanings which are represented through human attributes and behavior in the Mappasikrawa tradition. The aim of this research is to analyze the meaning of symbolic situations, the meaning of social interaction products and the meaning of interpretations of the Mappasikarawa tradition in Bugis weddings in Sencalang Village.The research uses qualitative methods. The research subjects were 10 people, namely 2 Fappasikarawa, 2 Indo'Botting', 2 traditional figures, 2 parents of the bride and groom (host) and 2 brides and grooms selected using purposive techniques.The research results show that the meaning of symbolic situations in the Mappasikarawa tradition in Bugis weddings in the village includes physical objects. And social objects. The meaning of social interaction products includes the meaning of each informant. The interpreted meaning of the Mappasikarawa tradition includes open and closed actions.

Abstract

Kabupaten Indragiri Hilir adalah sebuah kabupaten yang terletak di Provinsi Riau. Berbagai suku bangsa yang tinggal di Inhil, di antaranya melayu dan Banjar. Dengan setiap perbedaan dan perbedaan budaya yang mereka miliki dapat berdampak pada komunikasi seseorang satu sama lain. Untuk menghindari kesalahpahaman, orang melakukan akomodasi komunikasi agar sesuai dengan gaya komunikasi dan sikap orang yang berinteraksi dengannya. Namun, akomodasi yang tidak tepat dapat menyebabkan kesalahpahaman baru dan bahkan konflik. Sebuah studi menunjukkan bahwa strategi konvergensi melibatkan adopsi bahasa yang digunakan oleh orang lain, sedangkan komunikasi non-verbal melibatkan penciptaan gerakan yang menunjukkan minat dalam berkomunikasi. Di sisi lain, strategi divergensi yang digunakan oleh orang Melayu dan Banjar antara lain tidak berusaha menggunakan bahasa lawan bicara, menciptakan batas jarak, dan menunjukkan perbedaan status sosial dan etnis melalui objek yang digunakan dalam komunikasi. Akomodasi berlebihan, juga dikenal sebagai akomodasi berlebihan, terjadi ketika orang membuat kesalahan dalam penggunaan bahasa, melebih-lebihkan pengalaman dan pengetahuan mereka, atau menyesuaikan jarak komunikasi tanpa mempertimbangkan kondisi fisik.

Abstract

Bukit Batu Village, Bengkalis Regency has many attractions as a tourist destination. This research aims to explain the community-based tourism communication model in developing the Bukit Batu tourist village. This study uses a tourism communication approach with a community-based tourism (CBT) approach. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive analysis approach. The research results show that tourism communication in the development of the Bukit Batu cultural tourism village is carried out by the tourism awareness group (Pokdarwis)/Bukit Batu Tourism Volunteers. This Tourism Awareness Group contributed to preparing many programs and implementing activities to advance the Bukit Batu cultural tourism village so that it won many awards. Pokdarwis' communication in tourism development is carried out in collaboration with local governments, companies and other communities such as: photographers and Creative Economy. And Activists of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The tourism communication model in developing the Bukit Batu cultural tourism village is carried out by the community as the main driver, the private sector funding support, and the government as facilitator and regulator.

Abstract

Modernization fishery tools facilitated by government support is assumed to help improving fishermen incomes. However, on reality the introduction of the more advanced tools has also posed challenges to the traditional fishermen. Modernization of fishery technology can also caused conflict between fishermen. This found evidence in the conflict between longline (rawai) fishers and trawl fishers in Bengkalis District-Riau has occurred for more than 30 years. The modernization of fishing gear by government is one of the triggers of the conflict. This research aims to uncover the root causes of conflict and understand communication management to overcome the conflict between traditional and modern fishers. This research used the qualitative and explorative method. The results show that the conflict among fishers in the coastal area of Bengkalis occurs due to the use of trawl and the territorial dispute in fishing. The causes of conflict between fishers are related to lack of rule understanding, economic inequality, and differences in value and culture. Government delivery of the aid that is not sensitive to the need fo traditional fishermen play role in the conflict. This is due to the problem communication management. The resolution of the conflicts at the Fishers community level is possible if the government is able to build the atmosphere through appropriate policies, programs and communication ways for the Fishers community.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis strategi komunikasi yang dilakukan oleh Dinas Ketahanan Pangan Kabupaten Bengkalis dalam pemberdayaan UMKM melalui pengolahan sagu sebagai pangan alternatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif, sedangkan teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi langsung dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Dinas Ketahanan Pangan Kabupaten Bengkalis menerapkan empat tahap strategi komunikasi oleh Hafied Cangara yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan, evaluasi dan pelaporan. Dalam perencanaan menentukan sasaran komunikasi yakni UMKM olahan sagu, pesan komunikasi dilakukan berkolaborasi dengan lintas sektor terkait, kemudian menetapkan komunikator yang memiliki daya tarik dan berkredibilitas serta pemilihan media secara langsung dan online. Dalam pelaksanaan dilakukan pembinaan, pelatihan UMKM, dan kegiatan perlombaan seperti Pekan Sagu Nusantara. Dalam evaluasi dilakukan pemilihan komunikator yang memiliki minat dan kredibilitas yang baik dalam pemberdayaan UMKM, membantu UMKM membangun branding usaha yang baik serta membantu UMKM mengoptimalkan bahan baku sagu yang ada untuk diolah. Tahap pelaporan terdiri dari laporan lisan dan tertulis.

Abstract

Perahu Begandung a culture from the Kuantan Mudik sub-district, Perahu Baganduang is held for Manjopuik Limau, Manjopuik Limau is a tradition of single girls in groups or individually visiting a girl's house with the aim of looking for mate or just to stay in touch and enliven the Eid al-Fitr holiday, where before this event is held the men in one of the villages have appointed a woman for Manjopuik Limau, This study uses a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach. The informants in this study were community leaders, traditional elders and indigenous people of Lubuk Jambi, using the snowball technique. Data collection techniques were carried out by means of observation, interviews and documentation. For data analysis techniques using interactive data analysis techniques Miles and Huberman. While the data validity checking technique uses extension of participation and triangulation. The results of this study indicate that the traditional figures of Kenegerian Lubuk Jambi interpret the Manjopuik Limau tradition as a tradition that can build unity and togetherness between the tradition actors and the community. The people of Kenegerian Lubuk Jambi participate and work together in organizing the Manjopuik Limau tradition. The Manjopuik Limau tradition can also embrace young people in creating good relationships because in its implementation this tradition highly upholds religious values and customary norms. Abstract

Pacu Jalur di Taluk Kuantan merupakan tradisi budaya yang awalnya digelar sebagai perayaan hari besar Islam dan kini berkembang menjadi perlombaan tahunan dalam agenda wisata budaya nasional. Proses pembuatan jalur (mambuek jaluar) mencerminkan perpaduan antara aktivitas fisik dan spiritual yang sarat akan nilai simbolik dan kebersamaan masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis makna dan nilai-nilai dalam tahapan ritual mambuek jaluar, seperti Mancari Kayu, Maelo Jaluar, Mambontuak Jaluar, Melayur Jaluar, dan Turun Mandi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif, dilaksanakan di Desa Koto Taluk, Kabupaten Kuantan Singingi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ritual ini mengandung makna spiritual dan simbolik serta memuat nilai-nilai sosial, agama, magis, dan budaya yang memperkuat identitas bersama dan menjaga keberlanjutan tradisi.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study examines the meaning of the mappettu ada tradition in Bugis traditional marriage in Benteng Village, Sungai Batang District, Indragiri Hilir Regency. Mappettu ada is a crucial stage that involves discussions between families about various aspects of marriage, including sompa (dowry) and dui mendre (expenses). Using a qualitative descriptive method, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results show that mappettu ada symbolizes commitment, respect, and consensus in Bugis culture. This tradition strengthens family ties and preserves cultural heritage. Abstract

This study explores the connotative meanings of various social problems as depicted in the Indonesian horror-comedy film Agak Laen through the lens of Roland Barthes’ semiotic theory. By applying Barthes' framework—denotation, connotation, and myth—this research identifies and analyzes the layered symbolic representations of poverty, gratification, crime, infidelity, and social inequality in selected film scenes. Using a qualitative descriptive method, supported by content analysis and semiotic interpretation, the study reveals how non-verbal cues, visual composition, and character dialogue convey implicit social criticism. The findings indicate that Agak Laen does more than entertain; it reflects structural issues within Indonesian society and offers a satirical critique of moral dilemmas, class divides, and systemic corruption. These connotative messages, embedded within comedic and horror narratives, function as powerful tools for audience reflection and social commentary. The film thus becomes not only a medium of entertainment but also a form of cultural discourse that challenges viewers to engage with the underlying societal issues presented on screen.

Abstract

The current transformation of public libraries is a social inclusion-based library transformation that not only maintains the sustainability and existence of libraries, but also directs them to be part of achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDG's), which is a sustainable development program that is aligned with the mission of the United Nations (UN) through a joint development resolution plan until 2030. This is what makes public libraries and village libraries to help the Indonesian government program in accelerating poverty alleviation. This study aims to analyze “How is the Communication Strategy of the Siak Regency Library and Archives Office in implementing a social inclusion-based library transformation program”. In this study researchers used several data collection techniques: interviews, observation, documentation. The results of this study indicate that the Library and Archives Service of Siak Regency in implementing the social inclusion-based library transformation program implemented it by holding seven trainings, namely the program being: cosmetology, making bread / pastries, making chili sauce, making shredded catfish, making Sablak crackers, making traditional herbal medicine turmeric acid, making plates from palm sticks. The strategy carried out is through three stages, namely planning, implementation, and evaluation. With this training, it is hoped that it can improve the community's economy, in accordance with the initial objectives of this program.
