Abstract

The National Achievement Center (Puspresnas) and the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia proudly present the Indonesian Ash Robot Contest (KRAI), a yearly student robotics competition where teams tackle ash-related challenges with their robot creations. At KRAI 2021, it was shown that many robots were controlled using joysticks and resulted in a lack of effectiveness in robotic motion. The use of a joystick makes the movement of the robot take longer. This is because the robot is controlled by humans and the robot has not been able to pinpoint the robot's location. Gyrodometry is a method to map the robot's position using a inner ear and compass of the machine. In this research, Gyrodometry is used to map the position based on the readings of the gyroscope sensor and rotary encoder so that the robot can move automatically. In this research, the KRAI hitter robot can map positions and move in an accurate direction and can move automatically and effectively so that it can save more time and can increase the possibility of strategy in the match. From the results of this study, it was found that without using gyrodometry the error of X reached 11.825 cm and Y reached 35.1325 cm and also the angle error reached 13.7 degrees. and by using gyrodometry error X reaches 4.25 cm and Y reaches 5.775 cm and angle error 2.01 degrees. From these results, it was found that using gyrodometry was better than without using gyrodometry. The addition of waypoints to the robot only produces an average error of 8.2 cm X and Y error of -7.8 cm and the angle error reaches 10.2 degrees.

Abstract

The rescheduling due to delays in the repair project of two ships being worked on simultaneously was carried out using the Critical Path Method (CPM) and Time Cost Trade Off (TCTO). The data obtained came from the repair lists of each ship. The aim was to expedite project completion and achieve the most optimal time and cost efficiency. Acceleration alternatives were calculated, such as adding labor and extending work hours on the critical path. The acceleration steps included adding 2 and 4 extra working hours and increasing the number of workers. The analysis results showed that the most optimal time reduction was achieved by adding 4 hours of overtime and 21 additional workers, successfully reducing the project duration from 55 days to 20 days, with a time efficiency of 64% and a cost savings from Rp 393,300,000 to Rp 390,330,000, a savings of Rp 2,970,000 or around 0.7%. The daily productivity for scrapping work reached a maximum of 650 m²/day, while the increase in labor and 2 extra working hours resulted in 780 m²/day, and 4 extra working hours resulted in 845 m²/day.

Abstract

Corrosion is a significant issue in steel constructions, and zinc coating (electroplating) is one of the methods used to protect steel from corrosion. This research aims to analyze the effect of voltage and duration of zinc coating on low carbon steel A36 through the electroplating process on the corrosion rate and coating thickness. An experimental method was employed, varying the voltage (6, 8, and 10 Volts) and coating duration (10, 20, and 30 minutes) during the electroplating process using a ZnO solution. The corrosion rate was tested electrochemically in a 3.5% NaCl solution. The results showed a significant correlation between voltage, coating duration, corrosion rate, and coating thickness. Higher voltages and longer durations produced thicker zinc coatings and reduced the corrosion rate. The optimal conditions were found at 10 Volts for 30 minutes, producing a 160 (Mu)m thick coating and the lowest corrosion rate of 0.00318 mmpy. The minimal coating condition, 6 Volts for 10 minutes, resulted in a 30 (Mu)m thick coating and a corrosion rate of 0.050120 mmpy.

Abstract

The flat-hull ship design is an innovative concept that saves costs and speed-up the fabrication of the ship. Even though the flat-hull ship was hydrodynamically inefficient, some shipowners probably experienced an issue with its unusual shape and disadvantages where drag is greater than that of conventional ships. This paper aimed to improve the design of a flat-hull vessel using hull vane and bow foil to reduce ship resistance. The asymmetric foil NACA 4412 and 0012 were used for the hull vane. For bow foil, only NACA 4412 is used. In addition, the angle of the strut of the hull vane was varied to find out the effect to ship resistance. This study was performed in a numerical approach using computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The mesh-based CFD with RANSE solver was used in this study, and numerical analysis will be conducted to determine ship resistance of flat-hull ships with hull-vane and bow foil. It was found that the effectiveness of hull vanes on ships failed to improve resistance for flat-hulled vessels. Because of the addition of the WSA on the ship, the total resistance of the ship increases following the installation of the hull vane. As an alternative, using bow foil can reduce ship resistance at Fn 0.44 and 0.59 by 10% and 24%, respectively.

Abstract

Ship repair project planning still often encountered problems that delay ship repair projects to achieve complete ship repair projects. Delays are due to frequent mismatches between ship repair scheduling and conditions that occur at the shipyard. The most commonly used method is the Critical Path Method (CPM). But in reality, the CPM method is considered less effective because there is still safety time for each job. Technological developments found the latest method, namely Critical Chain Project Management (CCPM). This method removes the safety time contained in the CPM method and replaces it with buffer time which is placed at the end of work activities. This study aims to analyze the duration of the critical path, determine labor costs, and the amount of buffer duration on the repair of the Geomarin-III 649 DWT ship. Based on the calculation results obtained on the repair of the Geomarin-III 649 DWT ship with the Critical Chain Project Management (CCPM) method is 10 days, 10 days faster than the normal duration. The labor cost obtained using the CCPM method is IDR. 54,017,500, saving 35% of the normal cost is IDR. 82,680,000, but if the buffer time is used thoroughly, the total estimated labor cost for the CCPM method will increase due to the addition of labor and the duration of the buffer time obtained by the CCPM method as a substitute for safety time, which is 9 days project buffer and 3 days feeding buffers. Based on this research, it was found that the CCPM method is considered effective and can accelerate the duration of the project and minimize labor costs.

Abstract

ASTM A36 steel is a steel commonly used in shipbuilding construction. The property of steel that is highly avoided is susceptible to corrosion or corrosive which can reduce the strength of the structure. Over time, technology has developed, and methods have been found to inhibit the rapid rate of corrosion, coating process is one of them. The success rate of coating process is also strongly influenced by the surface preparation process. The surface preparation process in this study was by differentiating the size variations of the SG18, SG25, and SG40 steel grit abrasive materials and the spraying pressure of the 5 bar, 6 bar, and 7 bar abrasive materials and the provision of scratch defects on the specimens that had been coated with epoxy primer paint. The purpose of the research conducted was to analyze variations in size of the abrasive material, the spraying pressure of the abrasive material, and which combination of variations is the best for specimens considered to have been scratched. In each variation, the value of the corrosion rate will be increased when the size of the material increased and the value of the corrosion rate increases when the spraying pressure decreases. The results obtained from this study indicate that the lowest corrosion rate value is 0.0027 mmpy with the outstanding category of the variation used, which is grit SG40 steel abrasive material and at a pressure of 7 bar.
