Abstract

The concept of balanced fertilization application is appropriate for tomato plant cultivation. However, most farmers still apply inorganic fertilizers excessively, which negatively impacts the environment and plant productivity. Alternative efforts can be made to reduce the usage for inorganic fertilizers through effective plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) application. This research studied the characteristics of the PGPR inoculants effectiveness (Azotobacter sp. and Pseudomonassp.) combined with NPK towards tomato in Lembang Andisol. The experimental design used was randomized block design, with three replications: A (Control), B (1 PGPR + 0 NPK), C (1 PGPR + NPK), D (1 PGPR + NPK), E (1 PGPR + NPK), F (1 PGPR + 1 NPK), G (1 PGPR + 1 NPK), H (2 PGPR + 1 NPK), I (0 PGPR + 1 NPK), J (½ PGPR +1 NPK). The results showed the treatments of C, F, and J resulted in higher total soil N content than the control treatment. Meanwhile, C and D treatment increased plant N uptake compared to control. Nitrogen uptake increased with the decrease of NPK dose application. All of the PGPR inoculation treatments with NPK combination did not increase Azotobacter sp. population and tomato yield. The yield of tomatoes per hectare showed that the PGPR inoculation at a dose of 3 l/ha (1 PGPR + NPK) increased yield by 28.7% compared to 1 NPK (150 kg/ha of Urea, 100 kg SP-36 and 50 kg/ha KCl) dose. Application of 3 l/ha of PGPR inoculant can save up to 75% of NPK usage

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the largest coconut (Coconus nucifera L.) producing country in the world. Cocopeat can be mixed with chicken manure because of its relatively higher nutrient content compared to other manures. Cocopeat and chicken manure mixture can be an alternative to soilless planting media to support sustainable agriculture. In this study, the chemical and biological characters of cocopeat and chicken manure mixture were analyzed. Five different of combinations of cocopeat and chicken manure mixture: A (1: 1), B (2: 1), C (1: 2), D (2: 3), E (3: 2) were used as treatment. A Completely Randomize Design (CRD) with two replications were used. Data were analyzed with Independent T-test methods. The lowest C/N (33,39) was from D treatment (2:3), highest P2O5 content (0,08%) by C treatment (2:1), highest K2O content (0,03%) from A treatment (1:1) as control, the highest Ca-dd content (31,3%) was E treatment (3:2), and the highest Mg-dd content (1,45%) was obtained from control. All treatments reached the minimum moisture content limit for planting media. The total number of highest bacteria (161 x 107 cfu/g) is showed by D treatment (2:3), and the highest fungi level (58 x104 cfu/g) shown by C treatment (2:1).

Abstract

Inceptisols are soils that have problems with fertility. Inorganic P fertilizer is a quick choice to restore nutrient availability for plants, but long-term use may harm soil and plants. Another alternative to this problem by using a biofertilizer. Biofertilizer contains microbes that can promote plant growth by increasing the supply of nutrients through their biological activities in the soil. Some microbes are known to have to dissolve phosphate ability through secretion of organic acids and enzymes mechanism. This experiment was conducted to examine the effect of hydrogel-based biofertilizer combined with inorganic P fertilizer (SP-36) on the growth and maize yields on Inceptisols Jatinangor. The biofertilizers were a consortium of phosphate solubilizing microbes (PSM) consisting of Bacillus subtilis, Pseudomonas mallei, Burkholderia cepacia, and Trichoderma asperellum. The pot experiment using a Randomized Block Design (RBD) consisted of 9 treatments with 3 replications. The treatments consisted of control, recommended dose of inorganic P fertilizer (100 kg Ha-1), biofertilizer dose of 50 kg Ha-1, and a combination of biofertilizer and inorganic P fertilizer. The results showed that the combination of ½ dose of hydrogel-based biofertilizer and ¾ dose of P fertilizer increased maize yield. In addition, the application of biofertilizer can reduce inorganic P fertilizer needs up to ¾ recommended dose.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find the characteristics of three PGPR isolates—Azospirillum sp., Bacillus sp., and Pseudomonas sp.: First, by profiling their characteristics in a liquid bioremediation system and secondly by measuring their performance as a bioagent in a soil phytoremediation system using ramie plant (Boehmia niviea L.). A Randomized Block Design in triplicate is used: (1) a Nitrogenfree medium with mineral media containing 1% (wt/v) petroleum hydrocarbons; and (2) 1% (wt/v) glucose medium as control. We tested their petroleum-degrading capacity, nitrogenase activity, phytohormones production, and ramie plant growth. The results showed that both Pseudomonas sp. (98.7%, 81.78% degradation efficiency) and Azospirillum sp. (93.80%, 83.70%) were the superior candidate in both systems. They both show reduced but adequate phytohormone production, managing to improve ramie plant growth. Both also showed reduced but sufficient nitrogen fixing capabilities to improve hydrocarbon degradation activity effectively. Meanwhile, Bacillus sp. has the lowest biodegradation capabilities (84.07%; 78.6%) and lowest nitrogenase activity, while failing to improve plant growth. Therefore Bacillus sp. would be more beneficial in a bacterial consortium where its characteristics (high IAA production) can be coupled with other isolates that can offset its lack of phytohormone or nitrogenase activity.

Abstract

AbstractPresent study aimed to perform literature review to investigate the current status and potential use of plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) for enhancing the soil plant’s health, plant growth and productivity in sustainable ways. The Systematic Literature Review (SLR) methods was applied according to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) on published scientific literature from 2012-2022. Results revealed that genus diversity of PGPR (Bacillus sp., Serratia sp., Streptomyces sp., Pseudomonas sp., and Burkholderia sp.) produce siderophore and phytohormones such as indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), gibberellin (GAs), auxin, and 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC) deaminase activity, organic acids, biocontrol agent that contribute to the improvement of nutrient bioavailability (nitrogen fixing, phosphate solubilizing and Fe-uptake). The growth character of rice inoculated with biofertilizer and combined with 50% inorganic fertilizer produced no significant difference with pots that received 100% inorganic fertilizer. These results concluded that PGPR that produced phytohormone and siderophore could be developed as a potential bioagent or biofertilizer to improve the growth character and yield of upland rice (Oryza sativa L.) in dry environmental conditions.Keywords: PGPR producing phytohormone and siderophore, N2-fixer, Biofertilizer, Systematic review AbstrakKajian tinjauan pustaka ini dilakukan untuk menyelidiki status saat ini dan potensi penggunaan rizobakteri pemacu pertumbuhan tanaman (PGPR) untuk meningkatkan kesehatan tanah, pertumbuhan tanaman, dan produktivitas secara berkelanjutan. Metode Systematic Literature Review (SLR) diterapkan sesuai dengan Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) pada literatur ilmiah yang diterbitkan dari 2012-2022. Mesin pencari Google Scholar dan ScienceDirect dengan kata kunci yang tepat digunakan untuk memilih dan mengumpulkan jurnal ilmiah yang terindeks bereputasi dan digunakan sebagai referensi utama database. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keragaman genus PGPR (Bacillus sp., Serratia sp., Streptomyces sp., Pseudomonas sp., dan Burkholderia sp.) menghasilkan siderophore dan memproduksi phytohormon seperti indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), giberelin (GAs), auksin, dan 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC) aktivitas deaminase, asam organik, agen biokontrol yang berkontribusi pada peningkatan bioavailabilitas nutrisi (pengikatan nitrogen, pelarutan fosfat, dan penyerapan Fe). Karakter tumbuh padi yang diinokulasi pupuk hayati dan dikombinasikan dengan pupuk kimia dosis 50% menghasilkan perbedaan yang tidak nyata dengan pot yang menerima pupuk anorganik 100%. Hasil ini menyimpulkan bahwa PGPR penghasil pitohormon dan siderophore dapat dikembangkan sebagai bioagent atau pupuk hayati yang potensial untuk meningkatkan karakter tumbuh dan hasil padi (Oryza sativa L.) gogo pada kondisi lingkungan yang kering.Keywords: PGPR produksi fitohormon dan siderofor, penambat-N2-fixer, biofertilizer, Systematic review

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to analyze the effect of Azolla biofertilizer application on plant N content, total soil N, endophytic bacteria population, and yield of pakcoy on Inceptisol Jatinangor soil. The research was carried out from August until November 2021 at Plastic House of the Faculty of Agriculture, Padjadjaran University, Sumedang with an altitude of ±750 m above sea level. The research was arranged in Factorial Randomized Block Design. The first factor was the concentration of biofertilizer were 5 ml L-1; 10 ml L-1; 15 ml L-1; and 20 ml L-1. The second factor was application intervals of one time, two times, and three times with three replications. Results showed that no interaction between various concentrations and application intervals of biofertilizer application on all parameters. The concentration of biofertilizer had significant effects on total nitrogen (N) soil, endophytic bacteria population, and yield of pakcoy, but had no significant effect on plant N content. The application intervals of biofertilizer did not affect on all parameters. Furthermore, the treatment of biofertilizer with concentration of 10 ml L-1 gave highest yield on the yield of pakcoy parameter which was 164.89 g but was not significantly different from the treatment with concentration of 15 ml L-1 and 20 ml L-1.

Abstract

Pemanfaatan Trichoderma harzianum dan biochar sekam padi diharapkan mampu mengurangi dampak negatif cekaman kekeringan pada tanaman kedelai fase reproduktif. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui interaksi aplikasi Trichoderma harzianum dan biochar sekam padi terhadap fisiologis dan hasil kedelai tercekam kekeringan selama fase reproduktif pembentukan polong (R3) sampai perkembangan biji (R6). Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan split-split plot. Petak utama adalah cekaman air (75%, 50% dan 25% dari kapasitas lapang. Anak petak yaitu aplikasi Trichoderma harzianum (tanpa aplikasi Trichoderma harzianum dan dengan aplikasi Trichoderma harzianum dosis 50 g kg-1 benih kedelai), sedangkan anak-anak petak yaitu dosis biochar sekam padi (0, 5, dan 10 t ha-1). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa interaksi aplikasi Trichoderma harzianum 50 g kg-1 benih kedelai dan  biochar  sekam  padi dosis 10 t ha-1 secara fisiologis mampu meningkatkan kadar air relatif (KAR) daun, konduktansi stomata, sedangkan penurunan kadar prolin lebih dipengaruhi oleh adanya penambahan biochar dosis 5 dan 10 t ha-1.ABSTRACTThe use of Trichoderma harzianum and rice husk biochar is expected to reduce the negative effects of drought stress on soybean plants in the reproductive phase. The purpose of this study was to determine the interaction of the application of Trichoderma harzianum and rice husk biochar on the physiology and yield of drought-stressed soybeans during the reproductive phase of pod formation (R3) to seed development (R6). This study uses a split-split plot design. The main plots were water stress (75%, 50%, and 25% of field capacity. The subplots were the application of Trichoderma harzianum (without the application of Trichoderma harzianum and the application of Trichoderma harzianum at a dose of 50 g kg-1 soybean seeds), while the subplots were rice husk biochar doses (0, 5, and 10 t ha-1). The results showed that the interaction of the application of Trichoderma harzianum 50 g kg-1 soybean seeds and rice husk biochar dose 10 t ha-1was physiologically able to increase the relative water content (RWC) leaves, stomatal conductance, while the decrease in proline levels was more influenced by the addition of biochar doses of 5 and 10 t ha-1.

Abstract

Dalam mengatasi keterbatasan lahan hijau di perkotaan, masyarakat mulai melakukan penghijuan dipadatnya perkotaan atau biasa disebut dengan pertanian urban. Kegiatan pertanian urban dapat membantu meningkatkan udara segar dari sekian banyaknya polusi yang mengotori udara perkotaaan, mewujudkan pola hidup yang sehat, dan  berkontribusi dalam menjaga ketahanan pangan. Hidroponik merupakan salah satu budidaya tanaman dengan memanfaatkan air sebagai media tanam.. Selain bahan anorganik yang dapat dimanfaatkan dalam kegiatan pertanian urban, sampah organik pun dapat diolah menjadi nutrisi bagi tanaman untuk menjadi mikroorganisme lokal. Mikroorganisme ini sangat bermanfaat bagi nutrisi tanaman. Pemanfaatan sampah organik dan anorganik ini menjadi solusi terbaik bagi masyarakat untuk mengolah limbah rumah tangga sekaligus bernilai tambah sebagai sumber nutrisi dalam pertanian urban.

Abstract

The fruitfulness of biofertilizer application in increasing plant growth and yield is when the formulation uses selected microbial isolates that do not cause disease to plants. Hypersensitivity test is carried out to ensure that the microbial isolates used in the formulation of biofertilizer are not pathogenic to plants. The purpose of this study was to determine the pathogenicity of three selected potassium solubilizing bacteria (KSB) isolates (BPK-DHJ3-3150[17], BPK-DHJ1-4125[2], and BPKDHJ2-5250[16]) isolated from the maize plant rhizosphere on Inceptisols Jatinangor. The research was conducted using a qualitative experimental method that obtained data in the form of visual photos. The three selected KSB isolates were inoculated on tobacco leaves and observed for necrosis symptoms. The experimental results showed that the three selected KSB isolates did not cause a positive hypersensitivity reaction in tobacco leaves, which was indicated by the absence of necrosis symptoms at the leaf location where the KSB isolates were inoculated. The three KSB isolates were nonpathogenic isolates to plants.

Abstract

The low productivity of cucumber plants in Indonesia can be caused by several factors, one of which is fertilization. Fertilization on Inceptisol soil which has a low nitrogen content is needed to increase cucumber crop yields. The use of inorganic fertilizers is limited to avoid environmental pollution, so the use of biofertilizers can be an environmentally friendly option. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of concentration and interval application of azolla extract based biofertilizer on the total soil N, plant N content, Azotobacter population and cucumber yield. The experiment was carried out from August to November 2021 at the Ciparanje Experimental Garden, Faculty of Agriculture, Padjadjaran University. This experiment used a Completely Randomized Block Design of a combination concentrations (0, 5, 10, 15, 20 mL.L-1) and time of application (1, 2, 3 times). The results showed that the application of azolla extract based biofertilizer with different concentrations and application times had a significant effect on the azotobacter population but had no significant effect on soil nitrogen levels, plant nitrogen concentrations, and cucumber yields. The addition of 20 mL/L 2 times application of azolla-based biofertilizer increased cucumber fruit weight by 35.97% compared to control but did not cause a significant increase in yield
