Abstract

Gen Z is a generation that is highly tech-savvy but prone to anxiety due to a quarter-life crisis. Previous research has not specifically examined Gen Z experiencing a quarter-life crisis or the relationship between song lyrics and positive affirmations based on stress-coping theory and positive psychology. This study, Reflections On The Song “Ya Sudahlah” By Bondan Prakoso & Fade2Black As A Positive Affirmation For Generation Z Listeners, was conducted to analyze the song “Ya Sudahlah” as a form of positive affirmation and to identify the nature of positive affirmations among Gen Z. The study employed a qualitative approach using descriptive phenomenology, involving interviews, song analysis, documentation, and a literature review of books and journals. Data validity was ensured through source triangulation. The results of the study indicate that the song “Ya Sudahlah” provides a new perspective for all informants in viewing life. Informants became more accepting and viewed failure as an integral part of life that cannot simply be discarded. This song also enables informants to think more clearly when solving problems. Additionally, informants are better able to control their emotions, focus on what they can do, and learn from difficult experiences. Overall, this song provides positive affirmation in the form of motivation, validation, and a reminder that they are not alone in facing problems.

Abstract

In the era of global pop culture and digital media proliferation, celebrity endorsement has become a key strategy in marketing communication, particularly for engaging youth consumers who are deeply embedded in fandom communities. This research examines celebrity endorsement as a communication management practice by analyzing how the global K-pop group Blackpink functions as a brand ambassador for Oreo among teenage consumers in Cirebon City, Indonesia. Employing a qualitative case study design, the research draws on semi-structured interviews, non-participant observation, and documentation of Instagram-based promotional materials. The findings demonstrate that Blackpink performs three interrelated communicative roles: visual testimonial provision, endorsement and symbolic reinforcement, and narrative centrality within brand communication. Rather than relying on informational persuasion, Oreo strategically manages meaning through visual symbolism, fandom-oriented engagement, and platform-specific narratives that enable teenagers to co-create brand meaning. Conceptually, the study advances communication management scholarship by positioning celebrity endorsement as a process of meaning management, stakeholder engagement, and strategic narrative construction, particularly within secondary urban contexts shaped by global media flows.

Abstract

The school setting plays a key role in shaping students' character and leadership through scouting activities; however, internal dynamics can lead to conflicts that may escalate into crises, making effective conflict management and communication essential for maintaining organizational reputation. This study examines the internal issues and communication tactics of the scouting organization at State Junior High School 3 Losari, and explores how these factors shape the organization's image. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, with data gathered through in-depth interviews, observation, and document analysis, then analyzed using Coombs' Situational Crisis Communication Theory (SCCT). The findings reveal that unequal distribution of responsibilities, communication breakdowns, and differing perspectives are the primary sources of internal conflict, which are addressed through crisis communication mechanisms including denial, consequence mitigation, relationship building, and problem-solving collectively helping to restore trust, unity, and organizational reputation. While the study underscores the importance of clear communication in scouting organizations, its limitations in scope and potential subjectivity suggest the need for future research with broader focus and more diverse methods.

Abstract

The Community Service Program (KKN), which requires students to be physically separated from their partners, often results in relationships that are fraught with emotional challenges and communication limitations, making interpersonal communication an important element in maintaining the quality and meaning of those relationships during service. This research aims to understand the experiences and difficulties faced by students during KKN, especially how they manage interpersonal communication to sustain their relationships despite distance and differing schedules. This study uses a qualitative method with a narrative approach. The researcher collected data through in-depth interviews, observations, and structured documentation with three students who were undergoing KKN and had long-distance relationships, as well as from books and journals. The data were also supported by observations and personal files. The results show that students experience various complex feelings, such as longing, sadness, anxiety, and frustration, mainly due to changes in communication routines, heavy KKN workloads, and limited time. Their communication patterns shifted from emotional to more functional, using digital media such as WhatsApp for text messages and video calls. The main strategies for maintaining relationships are honesty, regular communication, conflict resolution, commitment, and mutual understanding. This study concludes that successful long-distance relationships during KKN require flexible communication skills, good emotional management, and a willingness to understand one's partner's limitations. It provides additional insights into interpersonal communication in specific situations and emphasizes the importance of flexibility and emotional intelligence in maintaining relationships under pressure.

Abstract

The informal sector, which is based on the creative economy, provides flexible workplaces with work relations that vary to that of the formal organization. Interpersonal communication in this case is an essential aspect in the organization of work and social relations. This study aims at analyzing the meaning, processes and the purpose of interpersonal communication networks among the employees in Seia Sekata Roastery and Espresso Bar in Cirebon in enabling career development. The study strategy is qualitative in the form of a phenomenological one using in-depth interviews with five informants (first in the list of which are roastery staff, roastery assistant, barista, and social media manager) and one supporting informant (in the position of the HR department). Relevant books, articles, and journals were used to extract secondary data to reinforce the analysis of research findings. The results indicate that the employees develop their attitudes towards interpersonal communication as a significant factor in their career sustainability on the basis of recurrent communication experiences. The values of openness, empathy, support, positive attitude and equality as described by DeVito are a platform upon which relationships at work are strengthened and trust, mutual norms and supportive relationships develop as a source of social capital. This social capital is utilized in the promotion of career development and strengthening of employees work role in such a way that interpersonal communication is not only employed as a channel of information sharing but also employed as a foundation on which sustainable social relationship is developed to help individual career development.

Abstract

PADUKA (Collective Service for Registration of Population Documents and Civil Registration in Villages) is a digital innovation from the Cirebon Regency Disdukcapil which aims to make it easier for the community to access population administration services. This service runs on a non-mandatory cooperation agreement between the Disdukcapil and the village, so that the services are not evenly distributed in Cirebon Regency. This research aims to determine the dimensions and implementation of PADUKA's services, and identify obstacles and efforts to improve the quality of services. The methods used in the study are qualitative methods, data collection through observation, interviews, and dookumentation, with analysis based on the E-Govqual theory according to Papadomichelaki and Mentaz (2012) which includes six dimensions. Based on the results of the research, the implementation of PADUKA services provides convenience in the population administration process based on the quality standards of Content and Appearance that runs optimally. Meanwhile, the dimensions of Ease of Use, Trust, Reliability, Citizen Support, Functionality of Interaction are still constrained in implementation. The main obstacle lies in the nature of non-mandatory and permanent cooperation agreements, as well as communication and low quality of human resource competencies. The efforts made are to improve the cooperation agreement period, operator training, and system improvement. Overall, PADUKA has shown a positive contribution to the transformation of digital-based public services, although more intense evaluation is needed to ensure equitable distribution and optimization of services.
