Abstract

There are several processes involved in the treatment of clean water, namely filtering, sedimentation, coagulation, flocculation, filtration, and disinfection. These processes are utilized by PAM Bandarmasih at the Water Treatment Plant II (IPA II) situated on Jalan Pramuka. The objective of the research is to analyze the quality of water distributed to the North Zone of Banjarmasin by PAM Bandarmasih. The research location was intentionally chosen (purposive sampling) within the Bandarmasih PAM area, encompassing the raw water sources from the Tabuk River, IPA 1, and IPA 2 in the North Banjarmasin zone. The Tabuk River watershed serves as a tributary of the Martapura River, which is utilized as a water source to fulfill the daily needs of the people. The data analysis technique employed to address the research objectives involves analyzing the quality of distributed clean water using the storet method. Evaluation of the water quality distributed to customers in the North Banjarmasin PAM Bandarmasih zone leads to the conclusion that both the quality of raw water and treated water as a whole meet the quality standards outlined in accordance with PERMENKES Regulation Number 2 of 2023. The assessment of clean water quality distributed is based on the water quality storet method, indicating that the clean water distributed by PAM Banjarmasih originates from the lightly polluted AD Mufti River, with a total score of (-9).

Abstract

Population growth requires the provision of clean water that meets the standards. As a provider of clean water. PT.Air Minum Intan Banjar (Perseroda) needs to continue to innovate in the water treatment process. One of them is in the filtration process. The purposes of the research were to analyze the thickness variations of the filter media from Quartz sand and palm sugar peel in the filtration process and to analyze the water resulted from the filtration process through laboratory tests. The variations of filter media thickness, namely: 30 cm, 40 cm, 50 cm, 60 cm and 1 control. The treatments were conducted with 20 repetitions which were taken randomly using the Complete Randomized Design (RAL) method. The samples from the treatment were analyzed in the laboratory to be compared to the parameters of Clean Water Standard from Permenkes RI No. 492 year 2010, namely: Turbidity, Color, TDS, pH, Fe, Mn, Nitrate, Nitrite, Sulfate, and E. Coli. The results of statistical data analysis showed that there was a significant change in the reduction of several pollutant loads through the filtration process using filter media from Quartz sand and organic carbon of sugar palm peels. The reduction of the pollutant loads especially in the thickness variation of 60 cm. The reduction of the pollutant loads is on several parameter, namely: Turbidity, Color, TDS, Fe, Mn, Nitrate, and Nitrite. However, the variation treatment of the thickness of the quartz sand filter media and the organic carbon of sugar palm peels at all thicknesses did not have significant change to the levels of pH, Sulfate and the amount of E. Coli between raw water and treated water in the filtration process.

Abstract

This study aims to identify mangrove species and map the density of mangrove vegetation in the Tanjung Pemancingan area, Kotabaru, using an object-based classification method (OBIA) applied to Sentinel-2 imagery and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) data. Mangroves play a crucial role in protecting coastlines from erosion and serving as habitats for various species, making an in-depth understanding of mangrove distribution and types essential for coastal conservation and environmental management. The OBIA method allows for more accurate mapping by considering texture, shape, and more complex spatial patterns compared to traditional pixel-based methods. This study employs the Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm in the classification process to enhance the accuracy of mangrove species identification. The analysis utilizes Sentinel-2 satellite imagery with a spatial resolution of 10x10 meters and UAV data for higher resolution. The results show that the NDVI values for mangroves in the study area range from -0.30 to 0.686, which were classified into three canopy density classes: sparse (-0.30 to 0.026), moderate (0.027 to 0.356), and dense (0.357 to 0.686). The OBIA method combined with the SVM algorithm successfully discriminated between seven mangrove species with an overall accuracy (OA) of 72.46%. The identified mangrove species include Avicennia alba, Avicennia marina, Avicennia officinalis, Avicennia rumphiana, Bruguiera gymnorhiza, Rhizophora apiculata, and Sonneratia alba, with Avicennia rumphiana being the most dominant species, covering an area of 13.87 hectares. The mangrove vegetation density was successfully mapped, providing valuable information that can be used in conservation planning, coastal resource management, and ecotourism development in the area. Furthermore, these results have significant implications for further research in mangrove ecosystem monitoring and the application of remote sensing technology in environmental management.
