Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus is one of the chronic diseases that cause  the highest mortality and high medical costs;, therefore medication adherence and glycemic control are important  in disease management, one of which is through telenursing. Purpose: To determine the telenursing model to improve medication adherence and glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods: This study was designed a scoping review. The databases used are CINAHL, PubMed, ScienceDirect and Google Scholar. Articles published from 2016-2022 with appropriate inclusion and exclusion criteria. Thematic analysis was used based on study design, telenursing communication model, telenursing process, duration of telenursing and results. Results: There were 12 relevant articles out of 2112 articles. We found a telephone call follow up is the most common method used for delivery of telenursing intervention. Telenursing intervention is implemented from at least 3 months until 12 months, and includes the assessment of current disease conditions, assessment of adherence to the prescribed treatment plan, treatment plan information, and solutions or follow-up to current issue. Conclusion: Telenursing can be used as a nursing care delivery model  in the diabetes mellitus type 2 patients because it is proven to reduce glycemic control, improve treatment adherence, reduce body mass index (BMI), glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c), and cholesterol, and improve diet adherence, physical exercise and self-management.

Abstract

Technology-based simulation learning methods have great potential to support education for students in the health sector. One of the innovations that can be done is virtual reality. In using virtual reality, paying attention to the quality of virtual reality services to provide learning satisfaction and motivate students to be active in the learning process is essential. VNursLab designed VR as an additional learning media for Padjadjaran University nursing students. Therefore, this study aims to identify nursing students' satisfaction with using VR as a learning media simulator. The method used is pre-experimental quantitative research and a one-shot case study approach. The sampling used in the study was purposive. Eighty-six respondents completed the research by following the VR simulation for 20 minutes and continued filling out the PSSUQ (Post-Study System Usability Questionnaire) questionnaire. The data were analyzed using descriptive analytics by finding the mean value of each aspect of the assessment obtained from the mean of each element of the respondent. The results show that the overall quality of VR VNursLab is good (2.2), with a mean value of system quality (2.3), mean InfoQual (2.21), and IntQual (2.28). Based on these results, VR VNursLab as a learning media with virtual simulation methods has a good quality of use assessment and provides satisfaction with nursing students' use.

Abstract

Indonesia is known as a country with a high risk of natural disasters. Nurses as the main element in health care, hold an important role in disaster management. Therefore, nurses who are competent in disaster management are needed. This study aimed to describe core competencies in disaster nursing in facing natural disasters among nurses in a general hospital that is located near the coastal areas. A descriptive quantitative research method was used in this study. Samples were recruited using the simple random sampling technique. The data were collected using DNCCS and analyzed using univariate data analysis. 120 nurses who participated in this study had a higher score (mean = 246.52). Uniquely, nurses who had parcipated in disaster training actually had a lower score (mean = 246.43). In contrast to nurses who had participated in disaster volunteering, they had a higher score overall even though they were small (n=25). Overall, nurses have a high level of preparedness in disaster management. The lack of participation of nurses in disaster volunteers is a serious concern, so it is suggested to the Nursing Division to involve nurses in disaster volunteer both local and national scale disasters.

Abstract

Professional nurses are expected to be able to apply Evidence-Based Nursing (EBN) in the nursing process. However, the facts state that nurses are not used to applying EBN. This study aimed to determine changes in nurses' knowledge about EBN before and after being given education about EBN through video conference. This research is quantitative descriptive. Method using a pre-experimental design with the design of one group pre-test and post-test through PKM program at the general hospital in Bandung. 25 nurses participated in this study taken from the number of participants who attended. The results showed an increase in pre-test and post-test scores during lectures on EBN with Sig 2 tailed value 0.00 < 0.05. Although there was increase of 14.80 in nurses’ knowledge about EBN, video conference has weaknesses when used as a learning media. One of the weaknesses is unstable internet network constraints which had an impact on the quality of learning received by participants. Keywords: Evidence-based nursing, nurses, video conference

Abstract

The aim of this research is to describe the Quality of Life of Post-Covid-19 Nursing Students Based on Individual Demographic Characteristics. Method: A quantitative descriptive design with a proportional stratified sampling technique to 276 of 892 nursing students was conducted in April 2023. Data were collected using the WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire to measure quality of life. This study used descriptive analysis for numerical data displayed in cross tables. Results: it was found that the quality of life of respondents tended to be good in the physical (68.25+11.27), psychological (59.78+13.62), social (68.18+15.78), and environmental (66.42+12.68) Based on the total of quality of life domains, male respondents had a higher average score than female respondents. Based on education level, it was found that respondents who were in professional programs had a higher quality of life score than those in Undergraduate Nursing Study Programs, while for history of exposure, it was found that in total, people who had been exposed had a higher quality of life than those who had not been exposed to COVID-19. Conclusions: The quality of life for nursing students after the Covid-19 pandemic has tended to be the highest level of well-being. It is necessary to identify students’ barriers in maintaining and improving their quality of life, especially in the psychological domain identified as the lowest domain.
