Abstract

Kawasan Cagar Budaya Candi Muara Jambi is one of the cultural heritage and national heritage in Jambi Province, its location along the Batanghari watershed has a threat to the Batanghari river overflow flood disaster. This study aims to analyze and map the level of disaster vulnerability with the aim of reducing the impact of losses and the impact of the population exposed to disasters.  Determination of the level of disaster vulnerability is done with several vulnerability parameters, namely social, economic, physical and environmental vulnerability. In this study, a Geographic Information System (GIS) approach was used to analyze the level of disaster vulnerability using weighting scoring techniques and overlay techniques. This research used secondary data. Based on the results of the study obtained information that the level of vulnerability of flood disasters in the study area is at a moderate level of vulnerability with a high level of vulnerability parameter, namely economic vulnerability with a moderate level of vulnerability parameter, namely social, physical and environmental vulnerability.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a GIS-based thematic mapping learning module at the West Java Provincial Social Service. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method with the Dick and Carey model, which consists of 10 stages of processing and five categories, namely very good, good, moderate, less, and poor. The research variables used include usability aspects such as self-contained, stand-alone, adaptive, and user-friendly, as well as effectiveness, efficiency, learning appeal, and module quality elements like module format or framework. The software used in developing the module is the Quantum Geographic Information System (QGIS). The data analysis technique used to determine the feasibility of the module is a quantitative descriptive analysis technique. The data analyzed includes feasibility data with individual trials, small group trials, and field trials. Based on the results, it was found that the thematic mapping module on the social aspect based on GIS is included in the good to very good category, with a percentage value of 76% to 94%. The results of module development are very suitable for learning thematic mapping on the social aspect by utilizing GIS technology. Social data is usually very suitable to be presented in the form of choropleth maps or diagrams. Other thematic maps can be used, but they must be adjusted to the characteristics of the social data to be visualized.

Abstract

Remote sensing is a technology used to obtain information about the earth or objects on the earth's surface through the capture and analysis of data from sensors located on satellite aircraft. The benefits of remote sensing are numerous, one of which is for mapping land use and land cover. In conducting this research, there are 3 types of images used, namely Landsat 2014 and 2024 images, Sentinel 2024 images, and Pleiades 2024 images. The reason for taking these three images for analysis and practicum is because the Landsat image has low spatial resolution, the sentinel image has medium spatial resolution, and the pleiades image has high spatial resolution. This difference can show the most effective image used to analyze land cover and land use in Ciwaruga Village. The accuracy test using Confusion Matrix and Kappa Index shows a good level of interpretation accuracy if it exceeds the predetermined standards. In this case, the use of high-resolution imagery, such as Pleiades, provides more detailed interpretation results.

Abstract

This systematic literature review examines the use of ArcGIS StoryMaps in the context of high school geography education, with a particular focus on the methods of implementation, the resulting impact, and the benefits derived from their use. ArcGIS StoryMaps provides an innovative platform for the creation of interactive and engaging geographic content, given the increasing influence of digital tools in the educational landscape. The findings of the eleven studies selected from the 290 articles are presented in this review. The studies highlight the ways in which ArcGIS StoryMaps enhances student engagement, spatial thinking, and comprehension of geographic concepts. The tool is compatible with a variety of learning approaches, including project-based, inquiry-based, and case-based learning. Furthermore, it facilitates digital learning environments through immersive and dynamic presentations. The findings indicate that ArcGIS StoryMaps not only facilitates students' comprehension and creative capabilities but also assists educators in enhancing their pedagogical approaches and geographic expertise. However, the limitations of the study, such as the focus on positive effects, may affect the generalizability of the findings. It would be beneficial for future research to address these limitations by examining potential implementation challenges. In conclusion, ArcGIS StoryMaps has the potential to revolutionize geography education by enhancing the learning process in both engagement and efficiency.
