Abstract

Abstract

Ecotourism is a nature-based tourism activity where natural conditions are still natural and generally aims to introduce biological conservation activities. Gunung Tunak Nature Tourism Park (TWA) in Central Lombok is a tourist area that has a wealth of flora and fauna that can be developed as ecotourism. The natural beauty in this area has not yet been developed much, due to the local community's lack of understanding of ecotourism. This community service activity aims to develop interpretive routes within the Gunung Tunak TWA area, provide knowledge about ecotourism and help promote ecotourism in the Gunung Tunak TWA. Service activities are carried out in 4 stages, namely surveying interpretation routes and unique flora and fauna, creating interpretation routes and route maps, counseling and creating promotional media. This community service activity has run smoothly thanks to the very cooperative cooperation of partners in discussion forums and the creation of signboards and interpretation paths. Mount Tunak TWA has potential fauna for ecotourism in the form of birds, mammals, reptiles and insects. Animal information signs on the Bilasayak and Teluk Ujung interpretation routes have been created to help tourists find wildlife that can be observed on Mount Tunak.

Abstract

Sugar palm (Arenga pinnata (Wurmb.) Merr.) is a multipurpose non-timber forest product that plays important ecological, socio-cultural, and economic roles in rural communities of Indonesia. This study aims to document ethnobotanical knowledge, traditional ecological knowledge (TEK), and plant part utilization patterns of sugar palm in Pusuk Lestari Village, West Lombok, Indonesia. Data were collected using a mixed-method approach through semi-structured interviews, participant observation, and field documentation involving 23 key informants selected using snowball sampling. Quantitative analysis of plant part utilization was conducted using the Plant Part Value (PPV) index based on reported uses. The results indicate that the community utilizes six main plant organs of A. pinnata, namely roots, stems, leaves, inflorescences, fruits, and seeds. Leaves exhibited the highest PPV value (32.14%), followed by stems (28.57%) and inflorescences (21.43%), reflecting a preference for renewable and multifunctional plant organs. In contrast, roots and seeds showed the lowest PPV values, indicating limited use of vital plant organs. Traditional tapping practices are guided by TEK, including phenological indicators, ritual practices, taboos, and the use of natural anti-fermentation agents, which collectively support sap quality, safety, and continuity of production. Economically, sugar palm sap provides stable daily income, while other products such as ijuk (palm fiber derived from the fibrous sheath), young leaves, and kolang-kaling (immature sugar palm fruit) serve as supplementary and seasonal resources. Overall, the integration of ethnobotanical knowledge and PPV analysis indicates that A.

Abstract

Bagek Kembar mangrove ecotourism area in Cendi Manik Village, Sekotong, West Lombok, Indonesia, is being developed by the local community as an environmental conservation initiative and a sustainable tourism destination. Community participation plays an important role in supporting the success of ecotourism development, especially through the knowledge and attitudes of local residents toward mangrove conservation. This study aims to identify and analyze the influence of community knowledge and conservation attitudes on the development of the Bagek Kembar mangrove ecotourism area. The research employed a descriptive quantitative survey method. Respondents were selected using purposive sampling based on their involvement in tourism and conservation activities in the study area. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed descriptively, followed by multiple linear regression analysis to determine the relationship between variables. The results showed that the community’s level of conservation knowledge was categorized as low, with a percentage of 7.01%, while conservation attitudes were categorized as high, reaching 75%. The regression analysis indicated a positive relationship between conservation knowledge and conservation attitudes. Furthermore, partial statistical testing (t-test) and simultaneous testing (f-test) demonstrated that community knowledge significantly influenced conservation attitudes. These findings suggest that improving environmental education can strengthen community support for sustainable mangrove ecotourism management.

Abstract

The Mandalika Coastal Area, located in Central Lombok Regency, is a row of beaches and bays that have a large coral reef ecosystem and intertidal zone area. The increasing growth of activities on the Mandalika coast will affect the life of the coral reef ecosystem, one of which is the concentration of heavy metals that exceeds the quality standard limits which will be very dangerous for coral reefs. This study aims to determine the concentration of the heavy metals lead and cadmium in Porites lutea coral reefs in Kuta, Tanjung Aan and Gerupuk beaches. Research data collection (field and laboratory) was carried out in May 2023. Coral reef preparation was carried out at the Advanced and Analytical Biology Laboratory, FMIPA, University of Mataram and measurements of heavy metal content were carried out at the Environmental Laboratory, the West Nusa Tenggara Province Environment and Forestry Service. Measurement and calculation of heavy metal content using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS). The results showed that the concentrations of the heavy metals lead and cadmium in Porites lutea coral reefs are < 0.0005 mg/L and < 0.0001 mg/L, which are still below the quality standards (PPRI No.22 of 2021 concerning Sea water Wuality Standards on Marine Biota). The Bioaccumulation Factors (BAF) value in all samples of P. lutea coral in Mandalika coastal waters is 0.00 mg/L, this shows that there is no accumulation of heavy metals in P. lutea coral.
