Abstract

This study aims to obtain a description of the errors of high school students on linear program topics by using the Newman Error Analysis. This type of research is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. This research was conducted by giving a test to participants consisting of a three-word problem on the topic of a linear program then conducting interviews as a data collection technique. Participants in this study were five female students of class XI in one of the senior high schools in Bandung, including four people who were students majoring in Sciences studies and one person who was a student majoring in Social studies. Based on the results of a research according to the Newman Error Analysis, all participants made several types of errors on the topic of a linear program. Errors made by the participants include transformation errors made by three students, the process skill errors made by two students, and writing error answers made by two students.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the improvement of mathematical critical thinking skills in junior high school students between students who get REACT (Relating, Experiencing, Applying Cooperating and Transferring) strategy learning with students who get direct instruction and find out student responses to learning with the REACT strategy. The research uses a quasi-experimental method with type of research was with Non-equivalent Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The population in this research were grade VIII students in even semester 2018/2019 in one of the state junior high school in the city of Bandung. The sampling technique was purposive sampling with a sample consisting of 2 classes, namely class VIII-A as a control class of 25 students and VIII-C as an experimental class as many as 26 students. Data collection obtained from the results of pretest and posttest. The results showed that the improvement of mathematical critical thinking skills through REACT strategy learning was significantly higher than direct learning. The increase in the learning outcomes of the experimental class students is in the medium category, while the increase in the control class students' learning outcomes is in the low category)

Abstract

This study aims to obtain an overview of the improvement in student mathematics learning outcomes using manipulatives with Cooperative Learning Everyone is a Teacher Here (ETH- cooperative learning) and students who learn to use manipulatives with conventional learning. The research design used was quasi-experiment with the type of pretest posttest control group design with a population of all first-level students who were studying matriculation at one of the STIKES in Indonesia. The number of samples of two classes was selected by purposive sampling, with the number of control class students being 38 people and the experimental class being 44 people. Class A as a control class gets conventional learning using manipulatives. Class B as an experimental class receives learning by using manipulatives through ETH-cooperative learning. The result is an increase in mathematics learning outcomes of students who learn to use manipulatives with ETH-cooperative learning higher than students who learn to use conventional manipulatives.

Abstract

This study aims to examine: (1) an increase in mathematical understanding of students whose learning with SOLO taxonomy of Superitem techniques compared to conventional learning, (2) completeness of mathematical understanding of students using SOLO taxonomy of Superitem techniques, (3) student attitudes toward learning using the SOLO taxonomy of Superitem techniques. The study was a quasi-experimental study in one of the high schools in Bandung with a research design control group design posttest. The population is all class X high school students. The sample was taken by the Purposive Random Sampling technique as much as two classes. Data collection is done by giving tests and non-tests. The written test is mathematical understanding in the concept of three dimensional geometry. Non tests are attitude questionnaires with a Likert scale. The results showed (1) an increase in mathematical of students whose learning using SOLO taxonomy with Superitem techniques was higher than that of students with conventional learning methods, (2) classical mastery learning in experimental classes was achieved, and (3) positive student attitudes in all indicator.

Abstract

This study aims to examine student errors on the concept of circles. Researchers conduct explorative study by giving individual written tests (two description questions) to students after learning the concept of circles in basic mathematic lectures. The participants of this study are 46 students of 2015/2016 bacth in the Department of Biology Education of a university in Indonesia. Based on the results of data analysis, more than 75% of the participants experienced errors in the concept of circles. The number of students who experienced errors in problem number 1 in the error categories err1, err2, and err3 respectively 5, 33, and 0 people. While at number 2 error err1, err2, and err3 respectively 1, 37, and 1 person.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Ethnomathematics is important in learning mathematics. Ethnomathematics is a mathematical education that integrates cultural values in mathematics learning needs to initiate a real integration of cultural values. West Java Society is one of the provinces in Indonesia which has a variety of ethnomathematics, one of which is Indramayu. The Indramayu community generally has a livelihood as a farmer so that most of the Indramayu region is agricultural land, even rice fields can be found even though it is located in the center of Indramayu city. In this article, ethnomathematics is examined in the culture of measuring rice field area in Indramayu. This research method is ethnographic with two participants, a 59-years-old man and a 51-year-old woman from Indramayu. The results of this study are the existence of rice field formulas used by the Truwali Indramayu community.
