Abstract

The community service team from the Padang State Polytechnic majoring in Mechanical Engineering has implemented a community service program which is participated by members of the affluent farmer group, namely the local community, which is located in Batu Gadang, Kec. Lubuk Kilangan which owns agricultural land. This community service provides rice mower machine assistance to affluent farmer groups. Community service is expected to be able to help all members of a prosperous farmer group, who previously needed a lot of manpower for post-harvest, now no longer need a lot of agricultural labor and also with this community service assistance, prosperous farmer groups can save time and costs for post-harvest. The high hopes of the community service team for affluent farmer groups are to be able to make the most of this machine and support the success of affluent farmer groups to increase rice production and overcome the need for extravagant labor at post-harvest time. And it is highly hoped that the prosperous farmer groups will be able to use this rice mower machine, and can assemble agricultural tools with a modification of the carrying type lawn mower to be used as a rice cutting machine.

Abstract

Wind turbines convert the kinetic energy in wind into clean electricity. When the wind spins the wind turbine's blades, a rotor captures the kinetic energy of the wind and converts it into rotary motion to drive the generator. Wind electric systems are one of the most cost-effective home-based renewable energy systems with zero emissions and pollution. Many factors that influence the performance of wind turbines such as wind speed, blade shape, and number of blades. In Generator, Coil number of turn (N) also influence performance of wind turbine. Manufacture of wind turbine prototype as a learning medium to facilitate students in understanding the concept of wind electric system. Results of the test prototype wind turbine if the wind speed the greater the resulting voltage will be higher, the Coil number of turn (N) also affects the voltage generated.

Abstract

Energi angin merupakan salah satu potensi energi terbarukan yang dapat memberikan kontribusiterhadap  kebutuhan  energi  listrik  rumah  tinggal.  Pembangkit  energi  angin bebas  polusi  (CO2)maka pembangkit ini dapat menjawab masalah lingkungan hidup dan ketersediaan sumber energysifatnya dapat diperbaharui (renewable) serta penelitian ini mendukung program pemerintah kotaPadang untuk menjadi lumbung energy terbarukan. Tujuan yang ingin dihasilkan adalah dibuatnyasebuah turbin angin  dalam kapasitas kecil (micro) yang dapat membantu menyuplai listrik sebuahrumah tinggal  dan mampu beroperasi di daerah  kecepatan angin rendah kemudian dapat di set uppada  atap  rumah.  Metodologi  yang  digunakan  untuk  pencapaian  tujuan  adalah  metodaeksperimental  dengan  tahap-tahapan  sebagai  berikut  pengambilan  data  angin  lapangan;  disainturbin angin; pemilihan bahan; pembuatan turbin angin dan pengujian alat.  Kota Padang Sumbartermasuk wilayah yang memiliki kecepatan angin rendah antara 2-6 m/s, maka jenis turbin anginyang cocok adalah  turbin angin tipe savonius karena bisa berputar pada kecepatan angin rendah(low  wind  velocity)    dengan  putaran  awal  (starting)  dapat  terjadi  pada  kecepatan  2m/s  sertakonstruksinya yang sangat sederhana. Disain  turbin yang dibuat adalah berbentuk savonius 2 sududengan  konstruksi  overlap  antara  kedua  sudu  dengan  tujuan  untuk  memanfaatkan  tekanan  anginbalikan dari sudu satu  ke sudu kedua dan sebaliknya sehingga dapat meningkatkan putaran  rotor.Rancangan  turbin  savonius  di  buat  4  tingkat.  Bahan  yang  digunakan  untuk  sudu  turbin  adalahaluminium  dan  jenis  poros  hollow.    Generator  yang  dipakai  adalah  generator  magnet  permanenPanasonic  400watt  yang  dapat  menghasilkan  daya  pada  putaran  rendah  (150  rpm)  ;  Untukmeningkatkan rpm yang sampai ke generator digunakan system transmisi sabuk dan pully denganperbandingan  transmisi  5:1.  Kemudian  tipe  bearing  yang  digunakan  adalah  ball  bearingbearing.Dari hasil pengujian didapat daya maksimum yang dihasilkan adalah 7,7watt dengan putaran rotor340rpm dengan kecepatan angin 5,68m/s dan Cp 0.3

Abstract

Kanagarian Salo Kec. Baso Kab. Agam memiliki beberapa peternakan puyuh yang dikelola secara mandiri. Berdasarkan survey yang dilakukan pada awal 2020 di peternakan puyuh kanagarian Salo, pakan puyuh diaduk secara manual menggunakan skop sehingga hasil adukan tidak merata ditiap bagian. Pengolahan pakan yang baik sangat berpengaruh pada produksi telur puyuh. Pakan yang baik memiliki komposisi pengadukan yang merata di setiap bagian ransum, sehingga puyuh mendapat gizi sesuai kebutuhannya. Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut sangat perlu dibuatkan mesinpengaduk pakan unggas. Tujuan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah menyediakan mesin pengaduk pakan ternak puyuh kapasitas 400 kg untuk peternak di Kanagarian Salo. Diharapkan proses pengadukan pakan menjadi lebih efektif dan efisien. Metoda yang digunakan untuk menyelesaikan permasalahan mitra adalah adalah rancang bangun alat pengaduk pakan yang aplikatif berdasarkan kebutuhan mitra dan sosialisasi cara pemakaian mesin pengaduk. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah tersedianya mesin pengaduk pakan puyuh kapasitas 400 kg untuk peternakan puyuh di kanagarian salo dan pemahaman peternak dalam pengoperasian mesin. Kata kunci : pakan unggas, pakan puyuh, mesin pengaduk, tingkat campuranhomogen ABSTRACT Kanagarian Salo Kec. Baso Kab. Agam has several independently managed quail farms. Based on a survey conducted in early 2020 quail farm in Kanagarian Salo, the quail feed ingredient was stirred manually using a shovel that produce Non-homogeneous mix. Good feed processing is very influential on the production of quail eggs. A good feed has an even mixing composition in every part of the ration, so that the quail gets the nutrition their needs. Based on these problems, a poultry feed mixer machine is needed. The method used to solve the problems is the design of an poultry feed mixer machine based on the needs of partners and socialization of how to use the mixer machine. The result of this activity is the availability of a poultry feed mixer machine with 400 kg capacity for quail farms in Kanagarian Salo and the understanding of farmers in operating the machine. Abstract

Mesin Frais termasuk mesin perkakas yang mampu melakukan banyak variasi bentuk pekerjaan dibandingkan dengan mesin perkakas lainnya. Di bengkel Politeknik Negeri Padang mesin tersebut digunakan untuk keperluan praktek mahasiswa dan untuk proses produk sudah berumur 30 tahun. Benda kerja dari hasil praktek milling mahasiswa kualitasnya kurang baik yaitu adanya penyimpangan dari karakteristik geometri (ukuran, bentuk dan kehalusan). Keakuratan kinerja mesin perkakas sangat penting dalam proses manufaktur sehingga dapat menghasilkan produk yang berkualitas tinggi. Tujuan dilakukan pengujian ini adalah untuk mengetahui besarnya penyimpangan geometrik yang terjadi pada keadaan statik pada mesin perkakas Frais Type Schaublin 13. Penyimpangan ketelitian geometrik suatu mesin dapat diketahui melalui pengujian yang mengacu pada standar yang baku. Pengujian dilakukan dengan membandingkan nilai penyimpangan hasil pengujian yang telah diambil dengan nilai penyimpangan izin menurut standar ISO 1710. Penyimpangan terjadi pada pengukuran kelurusan dan pengukuran kesejajaran. Pada pengukuran kelurusan diperoleh rata-rata penyimpangan ketelitian geometris adalah 0,0267 dan 0,0228 sedangkan penyimpangan maksimum yang diizinkan adalah 0,02 dengan jarak 300 mm. Sedangkan pengukuran kesejajaran didapatkan rata-rata penyimpangan ketelitian geometris mesin adalah 0,0741 dan 0,0783 dan penyimpangan maksimum yang diizinkan adalah 0,025 dengan jarak 300 mm. Pengukuran kesejajaran ketelitian geometris mesin melebihi batas penyimpangan maksimum yang diizinkan. Berdasarkan hasil pengukuran kelurusan dan kesejajaran didapatkan penyimpangan yang melebihi batas yang diizinkan pada mesin yang digunakan. Mesin tersebut seharusnya tidak dipakai untuk pekerjaan-pekerjaan yang memiliki kepresisian yang tinggi, dan sebaiknya diganti dengan mesin yang baru.

Abstract

Design and manufacture of coffee pulper machines have been carried out with the aim of completing the needs of the coffee farmer groups when harvesting in the Kayu Aro area, Kerinci. The steps in designing and manufacturing a coffee pulper begins with a literature study, design and calculation, the process of making the tool and ends with testing the tool. Engineering drawing design is done by modeling in SolidWorks software. Coffee peeler machine with a capacity of 4 kg/min, with a machine size of 730 mm x 320 mm x 1040 mm, using an electric motor 1 HP 1420 rpm, with a frame using an elbow profile 40 mm x 40 mm x 3 mm. The transmission system uses an electric motor with an initial rotation of 1420 rpm to 364.6 rpm. In the 2 pulley component D = 74.6 mm and 290.5 mm, V-belt type B No.52, 1 solid shaft D = 25 mm. Initial test results using 2–5 kg of wet coffee beans take 30.07–77.20 seconds, and the skin has separated from the beans cleanly. These results show that the engine capacity is 235.62 kg/h, so that the desired target is met with relatively low operating costs. The existence of this tool will be able to help the process of separating the skin and coffee beans, so that the quality of coffee production will increase.      Keywords:  coffee, coffee machine, design and construction, farmer groups

Abstract

Circular cylinder has a strong  adverse pressure gradient. When a fluid flows around the circular cylinder, it will produce aerodynamics force. One of them is  the drag force which strong enough. Hence, control of flow need to reduce the drag force with placed a disturbance body on the upstream side. The purpose of this study is to compare and complement the experimental research of drag reduction that has been done before. The aerodynamics characteristics of the disturbance body and cylinder are modelled in two dimensions Unsteady-RANS by using fluent with turbulent flow. It is found that the mean drag and the lift fluctuation of the cylinder can be reduced by the upstream disturbance body with the s/D = 0.107 (here s and D are side length of the disturbance body and the diameter of cylinder, respectively). The position of the disturbance body is varied at (α) 20º, 30º, 40º, 50º and 60º with a gap distance (δ = 0.4mm). Reynolds number based on cylinder diameter ReD = 3.48x104. Fluid interaction between circular cylinder with two disturbance body can increase boundary layer transition from laminer to turbulent to produce small drag. It is found that the characteristics of the flow significantly depend on the position of disturbance body. The optimum condition for the drag force reduction is at the angle α = 30º  about  53 %.

Abstract

This study was carried out to deal with reducing feed cost and provide high quality poultry feed for the local breed of quail  through the provision of feed mixer machines equipped with fermentation equipment.  Mixing feed poultry using machines is much faster, accurate and less energy consuming compered with manual mixing. Poultry  feed  mixing  machine  was  designed,  fabricated  and  tested. The  machine  consists  of  two function as mixing and fermented liquid spray. The  design  computations  to  handle  a  400 Kg  mass  of  feed and 4 L of fermented liquid. The machine was tested using afeed components divided into 170 kg for Maize bran, 120 kg for bran, 2 kg for mineral, 136  kg  for  Bone  meal , 2  kg  for  Salt and 4L fermented liquid replicated twice at four mixing durations of 4, 8, 12 and 16 min. The perfect homogenious mixing was got in 16 min

Abstract

Carpet washer is a machine that is used to help complete work in the laundry industry. By using this carpet cleaning machine, cleaning carpets is fast and easy. The purpose of designing this carpet washing machine is a form of innovation and creativity based on technological developments. This machine is made with an additional tube of liquid detergent to make work easier and increase efficiency. The initial method of designing this carpet washing machine is to collect data. Next is the calculation and design. The results of the design of this carpet washing machine obtained a motor power of 1.5 HP and a rotation of 1400 rpm, with a height of 1020 mm, a length of 745 mm and a width of 345 mm using a type-A belt transmission, pulleys with a diameter of 2” and 6”, a shaft diameter of 19 mm, the type of bearing used is UCF F212 type, has a cleaning brush and uses a liquid detergent tube. The design of this carpet washing machine has been made based on the correct design and calculation and can be continued for production.
