Abstract

Kondisi kemampuan literasi membaca siswa Indonesia masih jauh di bawah harapan pemerintah dan literasi belum menjadi kebiasaan serta budaya bangsa Indonesia. Pendidikan dasar dalam pembelajarannya belum sama sekali mengenal bahasa asing seperti bahasa Jepang. Padahal banyak contoh penerapan bahasa/kebudayaan yang dapat dipelajari dari negara Jepang, salah satunya karya sastra berupa mukashi banashi atau disebut dongeng cerita rakyat. Penggunaan media dalam kegiatan pembelajaran masih menggunakan hal yang sederhana. Padahal seiring waktu, penggunaan media jauh lebih menarik seperti penggunan media PowerPoint. Begitupun dengan penggunaan media yang masih sederhana cara pengajaran menjadi siswa lebih cepat bosan. Perlunya penunjang metode dan media pembelajaran harus diberikan secara menarik agar siswa dapat memahami dan meningkatkan literasi siswa. Dalam konteks ini, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi penggunaan metode storytelling dengan menggunakan cerita dongeng Jepang (mukashi banashi) melalui media interaktif PowerPoint sebagai upaya untuk meningkatkan literasi siswa kelas 5 SD Negeri Balok Kendal. Metode pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif digunakan dalam penelitian ini dengan menggunakan data primer yang diperoleh melalui wawancara dengan guru wali kelas 5 dan data sekunder berupa cerita dongeng Bahasa Jepang yang diambil dari website hukumusume.com. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengenalan mukashi banashi melalui metode storytelling dengan media interaktif PowerPoint mendapatkan respon positif dari guru dan siswa serta dapat meningkatkan minat membaca siswa.

Abstract

A research showed that the development of students’ basic speaking skills had not reached the expected target. It was important to develop speaking skills by learning materials using Japan Foundation (JF) standards. Speaking skill was communicative competence and mastering language use rather than learning. Speaking, in general, could be intended as a skill to convey one person’s ideas to others by using spoken language. Therefore, the research aimed to address these problems by developing teaching materials for blended learning during a pandemic. It also aimed to develop teaching materials that motivate Japanese students to learn speaking skills independently. Teaching materials were developed following the ADDIE model and tested by learning content and design expert groups. ADDIE of product development were Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Information was collected through class observations and interviews with four Japanese language skills course lecturers. Validation of content and learning design expert tests obtained feasibility of 86% and 91%, respectively. Furthermore, average eligibility for small groups and field testing was 92% and 96%, respectively. The research finds that blended learning-based teaching materials are essential during the pandemic because they increase students’ motivation for physical activities and introduce the use of technology. The research can be developed further to test the application of teaching materials based on blended learning quantitatively.

Abstract

Program Internship ke Jepang adalah program magang ke Jepang bagi khususnya para mahasiswa Bahasa Jepang untuk berkesempatan bekerja di Jepang. Dalam program ini mereka dapat berinteraksi dan berkomunikasi dengan penutur asli orang Jepang. Dan dalam bidang pekerjaannya, kadang kala menggunakan ragam Bahasa hormat di tempat kerja internship. Oleh karena itu, tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan penggunaan keigo mahasiswa peserta program internship Bahasa Jepang khususnya mahasiswa program studi pendidikan Bahasa Jepang Universitas Negeri Semarang. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan angket terbka kepada total 18 mahasiswa diantaranya Angkatan, 2013, 2014, 2015 dan 2016. Angket tersebut berisi tentang situasi yang harus di jawab responden di tempat kerja khususnya di Golf dan restoran. Adapun hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa terdapat total 267 data dengan temuan penggunaan sonkeigo sebanyak 68 data, kenjougo 1 sebanyak 24 data, kenjougo II sebanyak 38 data, teineigo sebanyak 127 data dan bikago sebanyak 9 data. Penelitian ini hanya memfokuskan pada penggunaan keigo mahasiswa terhadap customer atau tamu, sehingga hubungan uchi dan soto sering terlihat dan mahasiswa banyak menggunakan ragam teineigo dan sonkeigo. Hal ini untuk menunjukkan jarak antara pekerja golf dan restoran (soto) dengan pelanggan atau customer (soto).

Abstract

The present study is a longitudinal study for approximately 26 months to the Indonesian child and has been through her second language acquisition in Japan. A Longitudinal study is a research design that involved repeated observation of the same variables over long periods. The acquisition process took place for about four years. After returning to Indonesia, the family wants to keep her second language and do some second language maintenance. While in her process to be bilingual, she experienced a process of code-switching and code-mixing in her daily life using their mother tongue, Indonesian, and her second language, Japanese. This research focuses on how the child maintains her second language and how the bilingual process's phenomena occur through interactions in the family environment. Several language transfers from the second language to the first language occur in their daily life using Indonesian. This study uses an ethnographic research approach. Conducting ethnographic research requires a long-term process by making detailed notes about the group's behavior and beliefs from time to time. Observation and interviews are the procedures used in data collection in the field. The transfer language process is used through the code-mixing, code-switching, and preservation process of the second language after returning home. The results saw that the child both uses language systems in each language and sometimes mixed in between languages, as she has her languages.Keywords: code-switching; language mixing; Japanese as a second language; bilingual process

Abstract

Abstract: The Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) Mandarin Language Education Program Study is designed to train graduates for educator careers. However, it also responds to the significant need for graduates proficient in Mandarin within the industrial field. This response is further shaped by the new curriculum policy established by the Indonesian Minister of Education, which mandates that students must be prepared to enter the workforce before graduation. The Mandarin Language Education Program Study at UNNES is adaptable and responsive, developing learning outcomes that correspond with the requirements of the educational workforce. This study aims to describe learning outcomes, focusing on attitude, general skills, special skills, and knowledge for educational workforce needs. The research methodology employed is a robust and reliable descriptive qualitative approach, which includes practical data sources such as alumni, stakeholders, and job vacancy information. The results were derived from analyzing questionnaire responses from alumni employed in the education sector, stakeholders, and job vacancy data from Jobstreet.com. Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Mandarin UNNES bersifat adaptif dan responsif, mengembangkan capaian pembelajaran yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan tenaga kependidikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan capaian pembelajaran, berfokus pada sikap, keterampilan umum, keterampilan khusus, dan pengetahuan untuk kebutuhan tenaga kependidikan. Metodologi penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif yang kuat dan andal. Sumber data meliputi alumni, pemangku kepentingan, dan informasi lowongan kerja. Hasil penelitian diperoleh dari analisis respons kuesioner dari alumni yang bekerja di sektor pendidikan, pemangku kepentingan, dan data lowongan kerja dari Jobstreet.com. Abstract

This study examines the speech act of offering (moushide) and its responses in the context of Japanese family interactions, as featured on the YouTube Channel “Kimono Mom”. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, this study analyzes conversations from 37 videos containing offer-related speech acts. Data were collected using the “listen-and-note-taking method” and analyzed based on Yoshinari’s (2008) theory of moushide. The findings reveal 40 instances of offer speech acts and 37 responses, classified into six types of offer speech acts-such as direct offers (tenteiteki) and indirect forms like action-based offers (chokusetsu koudou)-and five types of responses, including verbal acceptance and non-verbal gestures. This study highlights the nuanced dynamics of offering within family interactions, emphasizing the interplay of language and context in Japanese pragmatics. By investigating natural and spontaneous discourse, this study contributes to a deeper understanding of interpersonal communication in Japanese, offering practical insights for language learners.

Abstract

This study explores how learners of Japanese as a foreign language in Indonesia comprehend and use Japanese politeness. Many linguists mentioned that socio-pragmatic skills can be developed in a classroom. This skill is essential for L2 learners to master communication in L2, such as how to build and express turn-taking, eye contact and give attention to the interlocutors. Therefore, this study aims to prove whether Indonesian learners of Japanese could use appropriate socio-pragmatic skills, focusing on Japanese politeness in a conversation setting. The subjects are 120 students from two universities whose level of Japanese skills is on the A2-B1 CERF level. We use the role-play method and set a one-on-one conversation/interview setting. Our findings demonstrate that most Indonesian students had difficulty comprehending the concept of ‘Tachiba’, meaning the place where one stands in a Japanese conversation. Most student participants could not yet grasp the social and interaction level. However, in some cases, Japanese politeness in context meaning is found.

Abstract

In the field of language, Wakamono Kotoba, the language of young people, often experiences changes significantly over time. These changes are also influenced by the entry of foreign cultures into Indonesia in the Japanese youth association which also influences the mindset and way of socializing among young people. Wakamono Kotoba as a variety of Japanese that is spoken by young people in Japan adds curiosity for further studies. The creation of wakamono kotoba is a form of creativity among young Japanese so that parents and non-Japanese native cannot understand the words in Wakamono Kotoba. The purpose of this research is to provide knowledge to Japanese language learners about Wakamono Kotoba as well as providing information about translation related to Wakamono Kotoba. This research uses qualitative methodology. The result of this study is that there are 75 Wakamono Kotoba data and 7 types of translation methods identified in Jujutsu Kaisen comics vol 1 and 2. From those 75 data, Characteristics of Wakamono Kotoba in terms of word class are found 26 adjectives, 21 verbs, 20 nouns, 5 adverbs, and 3 conjunctions. Furthermore, in terms of Wakamono Kotoba characteristics, researcher found that there were elements of word shortening, changes in sound accompanied by sound lengthening, word reversal, word change, borrowing from a foreign language, special vocabulary and mix in each word class. Of the 7 translation methods, the popular translation method that is the most widely used in this object study is the word-by-word translation method.

Abstract

Competition in the Industrial 5.0 era requires mastery of a second language, one of which is Mandarin. Several studies have shown an increase in Mandarin as a curriculum in some schools in the United States (Dillon, 2010). Similarly, in Indonesia, both national and international schools have piloted Mandarin (Yudono, 2012). The factors that influence the motivation of learning Mandarin according to Sadiman are internal factors and external factors. The purpose of this study was to describe the motivation of final year students of the Chinese Language Education Sutdi Program at UNNES towards the job prospects of foreign companies from China in Central Java. The participants who became the object of this study were Mandarin Language Education Study Program students in the 6th semester as many as 30 students who were expected to be ready to enter the industrial world as a form of answer to the need for Mandarin language experts in various industrial fields in Central Java. One of the phenomena found by researchers is the decline in student motivation as seen from the results of the final semester exam which is at an average of 65. The instrument used in this study is a questionnaire based on the independent variable and the dependent variable and then distributed to students as the main data. The results of the questionnaire were measured using a Likert scale.
