Abstract

Social life cannot be separated from communication, now the ways of communicating are increasingly diverse as technology develops. In fact, communication can be done online without having to meet each other. In communicating, often utter certain types of speech such as speech orders. In pragmatics, imperative speech is called imperative speech, meaning an utterance that is intended to order the interlocutor to do what the speaker wants. This speech certainly occurs in various kinds of communication, both directly and indirectly. A show on television, youtube, radio is also a communication. One of the talk show shows that contains imperative utterances is the Vindes talk show which is broadcast on YouTube by Vincent and Desta. This research succeeded in finding the types of imperative utterances found in the Vindes talk show uploaded September 2022. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive research. Data collection techniques using observing techniques and note-taking techniques. Based on the results of the research, the researcher found 17 forms of imperative utterances in the Vindes talk show on the Vindes YouTube channel uploaded in September 2022.Keywords: speech; imperative; order; talk show

Abstract

The linguistic phenomenon in Panimbang Village, Cimanggu District, Cilacap Regency, shows the continuity of the Sundanese language in the dominant area of the Javanese language, making it a linguistic context that needs to be studied empirically. This study aims to analyze the social speech of the Sundanese community in Panimbang Village, Cimanggu District, Cilacap Regency, through a Sociolinguistic approach using the SPEAKING model developed by Dell Hymes. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques, namely observation and interviews, on various speech events in the social realm such as markets, religious activities, and community meetings. The analysis was carried out using an extralingual matching method to reveal the social and cultural elements behind the forms of social speech of the community in Panimbang village, Cimanggu district, Cilacap district. The results of the study showed that the eight components in the SPEAKING model including Setting and Scene, Participants, Ends, Act Sequence, Key, Instrumentalities, Norms of Interaction and Interpretation, and Genre were identified in the speech of the people of Panimbang Village, Cimanggu District, Cilacap Regency.The speech of the Sundanese people in Panimbang village functions not only as a means of communication, but also as a medium for the expression of values such as solidarity, familiarity, and cultural identity. The implications of this research can be used as material for Indonesian language learning and continuous research involving other language fields, namely ethnolinguistics, which connect language with cultural aspects. ABSTRAK Fenomena kebahasaan di Desa Panimbang, Kecamatan Cimanggu, Kabupaten Cilacap, menunjukkan keberlangsungan bahasa Sunda dalam wilayah dominan bahasa Jawa, menjadikannya konteks linguistik yang perlu dikaji secara empirik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tuturan sosial masyarakat Sunda di Desa Panimbang, Kecamatan Cimanggu, Kabupaten Cilacap, melalui pendekatan Sosiolinguitik dengan menggunakan model SPEAKING yang dikembangkan oleh Dell Hymes. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data yaitu observasi dan wawancara, terhadap berbagai peristiwa tutur di ranah sosial seperti pasar, kegiatan keagamaan, dan rapat warga. Analisis dilakukan dengan metode padan ekstralingual untuk mengungkap unsur-unsur sosial dan budaya yang melatarbelakangi bentuk-bentuk tuturan sosial masyarakat di desa Panimbang, kecamatan Cimanggu, kabupaten Cilacap. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa delapan komponen dalam model SPEAKING meliputi Setting and Scene, Participants, Ends, Act Sequence, Key, Instrumentalities, Norms of Interaction and Interpretation, dan Genre teridentifikasi dalam tuturan masyarakat Desa Panimbang, Kecamatan Cimanggu, Kabupaten Cilacap. Tuturan masyarakat Sunda di desa Panimbang berfungsi tidak hanya sebagai sarana komunikasi, tetapi juga sebagai media ekspresi nilai-nilai sosial seperti solidaritas, keakraban, dan identitas budaya. Implikasi penelitian ini bisa dijadikan sebagai bahan pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia dan penelitian berkelanjutan yang melibatkan bidang bahasa lain, yaitu etnolinguistik, yang menghubungkan bahasa dengan aspek budaya.

Abstract

The phenomenon of language attitudes shown by Bandung athletes in badminton competitions is more positive than Purwokerto athletes. However, this statement is certainly still an assumption, which requires empirical study. Therefore, the study aims to elaborate on the comparison of the language attitudes of Purwokerto and Bandung athletes in Badminton competitions. The problem that arises is the comparison of what kind of language attitudes are contained in the speech of Purwokerto and Bandung athletes. This research was conducted using qualitative. The relevant theory to use is the theory of Garvin and Mathiot. The approach used is sociolinguistic. The data of this study is in the form of speech with the data source in the form of the results of recordings and observations. The data collection techniques used in this study are tapping techniques and recording techniques. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique used is an extralingual matching method including stages 1) reduced data collection in the context of data availability, 2) identification of data in accordance with the focus of the research. The results of the study showed that there was a difference in language attitudes between Purwokerto and Bandung athletes, (1) the language attitudes shown by Purwokerto athletes were more positive because they tended to speech that referred to loyalty and awareness of language norms, while the results of the data (2) Bandung athletes showed a positive attitude in the form of language pride. The implications of this research can be an opportunity for the study of language in the field of sociolinguistics by involving cultural and diverse backgrounds, as well as the defense of language attitudes as an appropriate alternative to improve communication varied with the characteristics of the region between coaches and athletes. ABSTRAK Fenomena sikap bahasa yang ditunjukkan oleh atlet Bandung dalam kompetisi Bulu tangkis, lebih positif daripada atlet Purwokerto. Namun, pernyataan ini tentu masih menjadi asumsi, yang memerlukan pengkajian empirik. Oleh karena itu, Penelitian bertujuan untuk menguraikan perbandingan sikap bahasa atlet Purwokerto dan Bandung dalam kompetisi Bulu tangkis. Permasalahan yang muncul adalah perbandingan sikap bahasa seperti apa yang terdapat dalam tuturan atlet Purwokerto dan Bandung. Penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan kualitatif. Teori yang relevan untuk digunakan yaitu teori dari Garvin dan Mathiot. Pendekatan yang dipakai adalah sosiolinguistik. Data penelitian ini berupa tuturan dengan sumber datanya adalah berupa hasil dokumentasi rekaman dan observasi. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan penelitian ini adalah teknik sadap dan teknik rekam. Sementara itu, teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah metode padan ekstralingual meliputi tahapan 1) pengumpulan data yang direduksi dalam konteks ketersediaan data, 2) pengidentifikasian data sesuai dengan fokus penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan sikap bahasa antara atlet Purwokerto dan Bandung, (1) sikap bahasa yang ditunjukkan oleh atlet Purwokerto lebih positif karena cenderung pada tuturan yang merujuk pada kesetiaan dan kesadaran adanya norma bahasa, sementara hasil data (2) atlet Bandung sikap bahasa yang ditunjukkan adalah sikap positif berupa kebanggaan bahasa. Implikasi penelitian ini dapat menjadi peluang untuk pengkajian bahasa dalam bidang sosiolinguistik dengan melibatkan latar budaya dan beragam, juga pemertahanan sikap bahasa sebagai alternatif yang tepat untuk meningkatkan komunikasi bervariasi dengan ciri khas daerahnya antara pelatih dan atlet.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the descriptive writing skills of grade IX C students at SMP N 3 Kalibagor. Based on initial observations, it was found that students' writing skills were not optimal, as seen from low engagement and poor writing scores. The study employed classroom action research (CAR) in two cycles, each consisting of one session. The participants were the teacher and grade IX C students. Data was collected through observations, tests, and field notes, and analyzed both qualitatively and quantitatively. Qualitative data evaluated improvements in the learning process, especially teacher actions, while quantitative data measured student achievement after each action. Results showed an increase in the average student performance score, from 77.5% in Cycle I to 100% in Cycle II. This indicates that using flashcards effectively enhances students' descriptive writing skills. Additionally, flashcards not only strengthened students' writing skills but also improved teacher competence and student engagement. Teachers are encouraged to choose media that aligns with lesson content and student interests. The study suggests that using flashcards can boost student engagement in learning. Therefore, this research contributes to enhancing the quality of writing instruction in grade IX at SMP N 3 Kalibagor and can serve as a reference for other teachers seeking effective media to support students' writing skills.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the phonemic changes experienced by people with cleft lip by analyzing the phonemic pronunciation produced by them. The data in this study consists of utterances produced by people with cleft lip. The data source in this study is a person with cleft lip. This study was conducted using a qualitative descriptive method. Data collection techniques were carried out using observation and note-taking techniques. Data analysis was conducted by listening to a video recording from Radita Dika's YouTube podcast titled Davi Siumbing Ngomongin Nopek, then transcribing the patient's speech into written form. After the speech transcription data was obtained, the next step was to analyze the data based on phoneme changes and articulation errors, thereby answering the research questions posed in this study. The results of the study showed that there were types of phoneme changes that occurred, such as deletion, distortion, addition, and substitution. Patients with cleft lip had difficulty producing sounds that involved the meeting of the upper and lower lips, such as /p/, /b/, and /m/. Another difficulty is experienced in the pronunciation of phonemes that require air pressure from the roof of the mouth, such as /d/, /g/, /b/, /j/, /k/, /n/, /p/, and /t/. In addition, pronunciation variations experience changes or omissions of phonemes in some of the words produced. These changes can occur at the beginning, middle, or end of a word, leading to misunderstandings of meaning for listeners

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the changes in word meaning contained in the novel Sisi Tergelap Surga by Brian Khrisna. In this study, researchers used a qualitative approach combined with descriptive methods. The data used in this research is in the form of words that experience changes in meaning in the novel and the data source in this research is from the novel Sisi Tergelap SuRga by Brian Khrisna. The researcher applied reading and note-taking techniques to collect research data. The novel is read repeatedly to obtain data and record words that experience changes in meaning which are then analyzed according to the Big Indonesian Dictionary (KBBI), and instruments. The results showed that there were 25 words that experienced changes in meaning. The changes in meaning found include changes in the meaning of expansion (generalization) as many as 12 words, changes in the meaning of narrowing (specialization) as many as 5 words, changes in the meaning of exaltation (amelioration) as many as 2 words, changes in the meaning of decline (peyoration) as many as 1 word, changes in the meaning of the exchange of responses (synthesia) as many as 3 words and changes in the meaning of equality of nature (association) as many as 2 words

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the correlation between the use of Kahoot as an interactive learning medium and student learning outcomes in Indonesian language subjects in grade IX of SMP Negeri 2 Karangpucung, Cilacap Regency. This study used a quantitative approach with a correlational method. Data collection techniques were carried out through distributing questionnaires to measure students' perceptions of the use of Kahoot, as well as documenting learning outcomes as an indicator of academic achievement. The results showed that the use of Kahoot had a significant positive impact on the learning process. Students felt more motivated, actively involved in learning activities, and demonstrated a better understanding of the material after using Kahoot. Most respondents gave positive, even excellent, responses to this medium, as demonstrated by increased interest and enthusiasm in participating in lessons. Furthermore, data analysis showed a positive correlation between the intensity of Kahoot use and improved student learning outcomes. Students' average grades increased after the implementation of Kahoot in learning, which indicates the effectiveness of this medium in supporting academic achievement. Based on these findings, Kahoot is recommended as an alternative learning medium that is innovative, fun, and effective to improve the quality of Indonesian language learning at the junior high school level. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui korelasi antara penggunaan Kahoot sebagai media pembelajaran interaktif dan hasil belajar siswa dalam mata pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia di kelas IX SMP Negeri 2 Karangpucung, Kabupaten Cilacap. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode korelasional. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui penyebaran angket untuk mengukur persepsi siswa terhadap penggunaan Kahoot, serta dokumentasi nilai hasil belajar sebagai indikator pencapaian akademik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan Kahoot memberikan dampak positif yang signifikan terhadap proses pembelajaran. Siswa merasa lebih termotivasi, terlibat secara aktif dalam kegiatan belajar, dan menunjukkan pemahaman materi yang lebih baik setelah menggunakan Kahoot. Sebagian besar responden memberikan tanggapan positif, bahkan sangat baik, terhadap media ini, yang ditunjukkan melalui peningkatan minat dan antusiasme dalam mengikuti pelajaran. Lebih lanjut, analisis data menunjukkan adanya korelasi positif antara intensitas penggunaan Kahoot dan peningkatan hasil belajar siswa. Nilai rata-rata siswa meningkat setelah diterapkannya Kahoot dalam pembelajaran, yang menunjukkan efektivitas media ini dalam mendukung pencapaian akademik. Berdasarkan temuan ini, Kahoot direkomendasikan sebagai alternatif media pembelajaran yang inovatif, menyenangkan, dan efektif untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia di tingkat SMP.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to investigate the relationship between the use of slang language on social media and the ability to write news texts in standard Indonesian among seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Karangpucung, Cilacap Regency. The research employed a quantitative correlational method, with data collected through a slang language usage questionnaire and a news text writing test. The sample was randomly selected from the population of seventh-grade students. Data analysis revealed a significant negative correlation between the use of slang language on social media and the ability to write in standard Indonesian. The higher the frequency of slang usage, the lower the students’ ability to write news texts in accordance with proper Indonesian language rules. These findings highlight the importance of promoting the use of standard Indonesian in educational language activities. To balance students’ informal language habits with their formal language proficiency, more effective teaching strategies are needed. Further research is recommended to explore other factors that influence students’ writing skills in greater depth. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara penggunaan bahasa gaul dalam media sosial dengan kemampuan menulis teks berita menggunakan bahasa Indonesia baku pada siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 2 Karangpucung, Kabupaten Cilacap. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kuantitatif korelasional dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa angket penggunaan bahasa gaul dan tes menulis teks berita. Sampel dalam penelitian ini diambil secara acak dari populasi siswa kelas VII. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan terdapat korelasi negatif yang signifikan antara penggunaan bahasa gaul dalam media sosial dengan kemampuan menulis bahasa Indonesia baku. Semakin tinggi intensitas penggunaan bahasa gaul, semakin rendah kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks berita sesuai kaidah bahasa Indonesia yang baik dan benar. Temuan ini menekankan pentingnya pembinaan penggunaan bahasa Indonesia baku dalam kegiatan berbahasa di lingkungan pendidikan. Agar kebiasaan berbahasa nonformal pada siswa seimbang dengan kemampuan berbahasa formalnya, maka dibutuhkan strategi pembelajaran yang lebih efektif. Penelitian lanjutan disarankan untuk menggali faktor-faktor lain yang berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan menulis siswa secara lebih mendalam.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the types of business names and the factors underlying the naming process of businesses in the environment of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto from a semantic perspective. The phenomenon of diversity in business naming within the campus reflects various factors that influence the name selection in the campus environment aimed at attracting consumer attention. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach. The subjects of this research are the owners or managers of businesses in the Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto environment. The objects of this research are the names of businesses and the factors of business naming within the Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto environment. Data were collected through observation using listening, recording, and note-taking methods, as well as documentation of business names. The researcher obtained a total of 45 data points on the types of business naming in the RW 04 area of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto. The research results show that there are several factors underlying the naming process, namely (1) the inventor and creator, (2) the mention of distinctive characteristics, (3) abbreviation, (4) materials, (5) place of origin, (6) resemblance, (7) intended purpose. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan jenis-jenis nama tempat usaha dan faktor yang melatarbelakangi proses penamaan tempat usaha di lingkungan Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto dari perspektif semantik. Fenomena keberagaman penamaan tempat usaha di lingkungan kampus mencerminkan adanya berbagai faktor yang melatarbelakangi pemilihan nama di lingkungan kampus yang dibentuk untuk menarik perhatian konsumen. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian ini yaitu pemilik atau pengelola usaha di lingkungan Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto. Objek penelitian ini adalah nama-nama tempat usaha serta faktor-faktor penamaan tempat usaha di lingkungan Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto. Data diperoleh melalui observasi dengan metode simak, rekam dan catat serta dokumentasi nama-nama tempat usaha. Peneliti memperoleh data sebanyak 45 data jenis-jenis penamaan tempat usaha di Lingkungan RW 04 Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat beberapa faktor yang melatarbelakangi proses penamaan, yaitu (1) penemu dan pembuat, (2) penyebutan sifat khas, (3) pemendekan, (4) bahan , (5) tempat asal, (6) keserupaan, (7) tujuan harapan.

Abstract

Penelitian yang berjudul Jenis-jenis Praanggapan pada Vlog “Atta Halilintar” di YouTube Unggahan Maret 2020 bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan jenis-jenis praanggapan yang terdapat pada Vlog “Atta Halilintar” di YouTube unggahan Maret 2020. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Data dalam penelitian ini berupa tuturan dialog dalam Vlog “Atta Halilintar” di YouTube unggahan Maret 2020. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini Vlog “Atta Halilintar” di YouTube unggahan Maret 2020. Metode penelitian ini terperinci menjadi tiga tahap yaitu pengumpulan data, penganalisisan data, dan penyajian hasil analisis data. Dalam pengumpulan data digunakan studi pustaka dan teknik catat. Setelah data dikumpulkan dan diklasifikasikan sesuai dengan jenis-jenis praanggapannya, tahap selanjutnya yaitu analisis data menggunakan metode kualitatif dan metode padan. Penyajian hasil analisis data menggunakan metode penyajian informal. Praanggapan dalam tuturan Vlog “Atta Halilintar” memiliki 5 jenis praanggapan yaitu praanggapan eksistensial, praanggapan faktual, praanggapan leksikal, praanggapan struktural, dan praanggapan nonfaktual. Praanggapan yang tidak ditemukan dalam penelitian ini adalah praanggapan konterfaktual.
