Abstract

This study examined the direct and indirect effects of arm muscle explosive power, hand–eye coordination, and motor ability on badminton lob performance among athletes at the UNP Badminton Academy. A quantitative causal-correlational design was employed involving 12 athletes selected through total sampling. Standardized field tests measured all variables, and path analysis was performed after confirming normality, linearity, and multicollinearity assumptions. Arm muscle explosive power (β = 0.393, p = 0.020), hand–eye coordination (β = 0.430, p = 0.010), and motor ability (β = 0.484, p = 0.005) significantly improved lob performance, whereas indirect effects through motor ability were not significant. The model explained 88.7% of the variance in lob performance (R² = 0.887). Motor ability was the strongest predictor, while physical capacities contributed independently. These findings support integrated evidence-based training emphasizing explosive power, coordination, and motor ability to optimize badminton lob performance.

Abstract

Abstract

The problem in this study was that the level of physical fitness of eighth-grade students at State Junior High School 1 Sijunjung had not yet been identified. This study aimed to determine the physical fitness level of eighth-grade students at State Junior High School 1 Sijunjung. This research employed a quantitative descriptive method. The population consisted of all eighth-grade students at State Junior High School 1 Sijunjung, totaling 155 students, comprising 66 male students and 89 female students. The sample was selected using proportionate stratified random sampling, resulting in 31 students, consisting of 9 male students and 22 female students. Data were collected using the Indonesian Student Fitness Test (Tes Kebugaran Siswa Indonesia/TKSI) Phase D for junior high school students, which included Hand-Eye Coordination, Sit-Up, Standing Broad Jump, T-Test, and Multi-Stage Fitness Test. The data were analyzed using quantitative descriptive statistics. The results showed that the average physical fitness score of the eighth-grade students at State Junior High School 1 Sijunjung was 15.19. These findings

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of physical fitness among students at Muhammadiyah 6 Junior High School in Padang. This is a descriptive study using a quantitative approach. The sample consisted of 31 male students selected using purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted using the Indonesian Student Physical Fitness Test (TKSI), which included the standing broad jump, sit-up test, Ttest, hand-eye coordination test, and beep test. Data analysis techniques utilized frequency distributions and percentages. The results showed that the students’ physical fitness levels fell into the moderate category, with an average score of 14.645. A total of 67.74% of students fell into the moderate category, 22.58% into the poor category, and 9.67% into the good category. Thus, the students’ overall level of physical fitness falls into the moderate category and is not yet optimal, so it needs to be improved through regular and sustained physical activity

Abstract

This research is motivated by the suboptimal implementation of Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) learning at Muhammadiyah Pasar Manna Elementary School in South Bengkulu, as indicated by low student learning outcomes and signs of issues related to physical fitness and learning motivation. Therefore, this study aims to determine the level of physical fitness and learning motivation among upper-grade students at the school. This research employed a quantitative descriptive method with a population consisting of all fourth and fifth-grade students, totaling 27 individuals. The instruments used were the Indonesian Student Fitness Test (TKSI) for phase C, which includes the child ball test, tok tok ball test, move the ball test, shuttle run 4x10 meters, and 600-meter run, as well as a learning motivation questionnaire using a Likert scale. The results showed that the students' physical fitness level fell into the poor category with an average score of 12.63, while their motivation level was in the good category with an average score of 152.78. These findings indicate that low physical fitness serves as the main inhibiting factor in PJOK learning, despite the students' motivation being relatively good. In conclusion, efforts are needed to improve physical fitness through the optimization of PJOK instruction and better management of physical activities at school.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the suboptimal implementation of Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) learning at State Junior High School 30 Padang, which is suspected to be influenced by the students' physical fitness and self-confidence levels. This study aims to analyze the physical fitness and self-confidence levels of students at the school. The method used was descriptive quantitative research with a population of 626 students from grades VII, VIII, and IX. Sampling was conducted using cluster random sampling technique, resulting in 64 students from classes VII A and VIII D as research subjects. The instruments used were the Indonesian Student Fitness Test (TKSI) Phase D and a self-confidence questionnaire. The results showed that the students' physical fitness level was in the "Poor" category with an average score of 12.03, while the students' self-confidence level was in the "Good" category with an average score of 114.63. In conclusion, although students' self-confidence is relatively good, their physical fitness condition still needs improvement. These findings are expected to serve as evaluation material for teachers and the school to design planned physical training programs to support the optimal achievement of learning objectives.

Abstract

Objective: This study aimed to examine the effects of Fartlek and continuous training and training motivation on physical fitness among senior high-school students. Methods: A quasi-experimental 2 × 2 factorial design involved 40 students assigned according to training model and high or low motivation. Physical fitness was assessed using the Indonesian Student Fitness Test (TKSI), and data were analyzed using two-way ANOVA and Tukey tests. Results: Continuous training produced higher fitness scores than Fartlek training (F = 8.11), while motivation significantly affected fitness (F = 7.62). A significant interaction between training model and motivation was identified (F = 7.33). The highest fitness score occurred in the continuous-training/high-motivation group (M = 23.00). Conclusion: Continuous training was more effective, particularly among highly motivated students, confirming that training effectiveness depends on motivational characteristics
