Abstract

This study aims to describe the profile of students' critical thinking in solving contextualised mathematics problems in terms of adversity quotient. This research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The research subjects consisted of 3 grade IX students who were selected based on high (Climber), medium (Camper), and low (Quitter) Adversity Quotient (AQ) levels by considering equal mathematics ability (based on End Of Year Summative Assessment Mathematics scores) and the same gender. Data on students' critical thinking profiles in solving contextualised mathematics problems were collected by task-based interviews on contextualised mathematics problems. The data collected from the task-based interviews were then transcribed and reduced which were used for interpretation and inference. The results of this study show that climber students think critically evidenced by interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, explanation, and self-regulation at each stage of problem solving, namely the stage of understanding the problem, the stage of developing a solution plan, the stage of implementing the solution plan, and the stage of checking back. Camper students think critically, as evidenced by interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, explanation, and self-regulation, but at the stage of preparing a solution plan, they do not explain the reasons for the steps used and do not review their answers, so they doubt the answers stated. Quitter students think critically evidenced by interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, explanation, and self-regulation, but do not realise that their work is wrong.

Abstract

This study examined the process of constructing mathematical problems to teach creativity using the concept of lateral thinking. It employed a case study design and involved a senior junior high school mathematics teacher who has won mathematics learning innovation competitions. The teacher has understood what is meant by mathematical creativity and lateral thinking, and has proven his mathematical ability and lateral thinking ability. He was asked to create his own math problems, teach creativity, and assess students' math learning outcomes using the problems. The findings of this study highlight three key relationships: (1) the connection between mathematical content knowledge and problem-structuring ability, (2) the influence of training experience on methods for teaching creativity, and (3) the interrelationship among content knowledge, training experience, and assessment practices. These highlight the importance of integrating content knowledge and pedagogical approaches in mathematics learning to enhance creative problem-solving skills.

Abstract

Drawing upon Teo's (2013) model of critical reading and writing stages and Moseley's (2005) Integrated model for understanding thinking and learning, this qualitative case study aimed to explore the lecturer's knowledge of teaching the integrated reading and writing course and his experience of teaching the course using synchronous Case-Based Learning (CBL) during Covid-19 Pandemic. Data were collected through online classroom observations and semi-structured interviews. The findings indicated that the lecturer designed the Critical Reading and Writing course to develop students' critical arguments from multiple worldviews; however, he perceived that CBL failed to meet the course's objectives due to student-related problem factors. Students' under-achieving level of critical thinking skills and their problems in terms of English proficiency, learning disengagement, and hesitance to explore unfamiliar phenomena contributed to the unsuccessful implementation of the CBL. Pedagogical implications are highlighted for future research

Abstract

Long-Term Contraception (LTC) is a highly effective contraceptive, covering a long duration and working for up to 10 years. There are many types of modern contraceptives that can be used either short-term contraceptives (Non MKJP) injections, pills and condoms or using long-term contraceptives (MKJP) IUD, MOW, MOP, and implants. The use of MHJP is strongly influenced by individual factors, because the decision whether or not to use a type of contraception remains at the individual level. Cognitive factors susch as knowledge, attitudes, and discussions with partners about the use of MKJP family planning. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of husband's support for the use of Long-Term Contraceptive Methods IUD and Implant in the Silo 1 Health Center Region. This research used a descriptive analytic survey. With the research sample subjects of KB acceptors of Long-Term Contraceptive Methods IUD and Implant a total of 90 respondents. Sampling using probability sampling with simple randomization. Husband's support for the use of Long- Term Contraceptive Methods of IUD and Implant is mostly supportive, namely a total of 72.7%, while a small portion does not support a total of 27.3%. There is a picture of husband's support for the use of the Long-Term Contraceptive Method IUD and Implant in the Silo 1 Health Center Region. Abstract

Chronic Kidney Disease is an irreversible kidney disease, with abnormalities in kidney structure and function. Based on the BPJS Health report, the number of catastrophic disease sufferers in Indonesia will increase to around 29.7 million cases by 2023. Kidney failure disease ranks 4th, with an increase in cases from 1.3 million to 1.5 million cases with treatment costs of IDR 2.9 trillion. The accuracy of diagnosis coding based on ICD-10 is very important for the quality of hospital services, reporting, and the accuracy of health insurance claim rates. In 2023 chronic kidney disease at hospital X as many as 229 medical records of inpatients who have performed hemodialysis. This study aims to assess the accuracy of diagnosis coding of chronic kidney disease cases based on ICD-10 at hospital X in 2023. This study used a quantitative descriptive method with a sample size of 146 medical records of inpatients, using random sampling techniques. Data collection techniques in this study were carried out by means of observation of medical record documents, Data analysis in this study is a univariate analysis carried out by the formula, category frequency: total sample x 100%. From the results of the percentage calculation, it shows that the accuracy of the chronic kidney disease diagnosis code is 112 cases (77%) and 34 cases (23%) are inaccurate. The inaccuracy was due to coder errors in determining the combination code, incomplete medical information, and coder accuracy in analyzing medical record documents.
