Abstract

Islamophobia has been rife in Europe, including in France, the emergence of Islamophobia has caused a lot of concern for Islamic communities in the world. The development of Islamophobic acts in France has resulted in a lot of chaos and negative sentiments by the world community, especially globally, towards French society. Until the emergence of Charlie Hebdo magazine which publishes a controversial article which is considered to be ridiculing the Prophet Muhammad, it has finally caused criticism for Muslims, especially in the Middle East. Muslims argue that what has been written in Charlie Hebdo magazine is blasphemy. Prophet Muhammad SAW is considered a role model for the Muslim community so no one should be able to give unfounded criticism. The people of the Middle East as a region with a Muslim majority finally responded to this phenomenon. In this paper, we will examine how the Middle East responds to the phenomenon carried out by Charlie Hebdo. This study uses the concept of a new social movement to see the movements carried out by the Middle East and the impact on the response of Muslim communities around the world.

Abstract

In the last two decades, the Australian Government has intensified the practice of securitizing migration issues. The difference is that the pre-Scott Morrison migration securitization program was more focused on handling cases of Illegal Maritime Arrivals, while the core of Scott Morrison's migration program was to reduce the pressure on the immigrant population. Through the discourse of Planning for Australia's Future Population, Scott Morrison cut the quota of permanent immigrants from 190,000 to 160,000 people. Scott Morrison also implemented immigration transfer policies and migration reforms. Therefore, this study focuses on analyzing the process of framing the issue of Australian immigrants under the leadership of Scott Morrison. This research uses securitization theory and qualitative methods, particularly process-tracing. As a result, this research found that Scott Morrison, as the securitization actor, intentionally created a speech act and convinced the public that the referent object, namely Australia's national security, was in a threatening situation due to the surge in the immigrant population. Functional actors, including parliament, media, and epistemic groups, reinforced Scott Morrison's speech acts.

Abstract

The discontinuation of Holden's operations was caused by the unfriendly policy of the Australian government. The fall of an industrial entity are influenced by the manifestation of the government's interest upon the economy wheel. Australia's national interest in its strategy of international trade oriented towards the energy, minerals and agriculture sector has had dire consequences for Holden. In addition, Australia's commitment to the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) for environmentally friendly vehicles has changed the orientation of its national automotive industry. Furthermore, Donald Trump's isolationism policy towards the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) has indirectly killed Holden. This study uses four conceptual frameworks in the form of International Political Economy Theory, the Concept of Government Decision Making on the Market, Free Trade Policy, and the Concept of Government Policy on Industrial Operations. Based on the research that has been carried out, this proves that the political dimension will always affecting an economic entity. The Australian government has legitimized its national automotive industry through a political decision-making process. Keywords: Holden, Manifestation of Interest, International Trade, Government Legitimacy

Abstract

ABSTRACTIn Indonesia, the Sister City concept began to be known as the circulation of the Ministry of Home Affairs Circular No. 193/1652/PUOD on April 26, 1993 concerning Procedures for Formation of Cities and Inter -Provincial Cooperation (Sister Province). The concept of sister city in Indonesia has been established by several regions with the equality of technology, education, culture and history with other regions abroad. In this study there is the purpose of this study to explore the implementation of Sister City Semarang City with Fuzhou City.In this study there are benefits that can be a reference for other regional governments, the private sector, the community and other researchers in establishing cooperative relations with abroad. To answer the problems and research objectives is carried out using the concept of paradlomation and sister city with interview methods and data reviews. The object in this study was the Semarang City Government. Paradiplomation in the Sister City sister of Semarang City with Fuzhou City can be seen from the implementation and benefits in the fields of economics, education, and the fields of culture and tourism. So that the existence of activities that produce results show that the paradlomacy can run with good cooperation between local governments. For example, Indonesia has continuously been praised as a successful post-authoritarian country transitioning to democracy. However, seeing the numerous human rights violations in the past decade alone, especially towards alternative political, religious, and sexual identities, the success of democracy in Indonesia has been put under the spotlight. It raises the question of the development of democracy and the use of democracy in Indonesia in practicing and upholding principles of social equality for all. In this article, I wish to provide an overview of majoritarian democracy, a form of democracy that is understood and practiced in Indonesia. A form of democracy that, rather than upholding values that safeguards individual rights and diversity, may undermine religious and cultural diversity, enforcing a homogenized national culture and values, which in return may engender human rights violations in the name of national security that it in itself is defined by the majority..Keywords: Paradiplomacy, Sister City, Semarang City, Fuzhou City

Abstract

Technology has been present and has become an essential part of every human activity. The magnitude of the involvement of technology creates dependency and encourages countries to make technology one of the critical elements of the state. Today, most modern services rely on space-based technology to operate, which makes space an essential domain for the country. Although the United States still dominates space, China's emergence as a new power is causing concern for the United States. The accumulation of power as proof of state competency took place between these two countries. This article uses a literature study method where the data source is obtained from primary and secondary data. The result of this study is to present evidence that the United States' fear of China's rise in space is the result of US policy itself. This paper highlights three key moments that show how US policy has contributed significantly to the rise of its rival, namely China.

Abstract

Abstract

In the modern age, the police institution is utilised as the primary spearhead to combat multiple sources of possible disruptions for the general safety of the public. The Indonesian National Police (INP) as a member of the INTERPOL takes part in multitude of activities conducted by the international organization. Currently, the Indonesian National Police is facing a rising number in the cases of missing persons, unidentified remains and crimes against children with casualties not only from Indonesian nationalities, but also international citizens. The current shortcoming of national technicalities and mechanism may open up a structured and tangible operational help from the INTERPOL in order to increase the efficiency and efficacy of police investigation in Indonesia. This research employs the securitization theory and qualitative method of analysis, along with field research and desk research respectively. Analysis shows that the Indonesian National Police is in favor of the agenda proposed by the INTERPOL during the 90th INTERPOL General Assembly, specifically to increase operational quality of member states, while also supporting the securitization process by the INTERPOL before and during the 90th General Assembly.

Abstract

Batik has added economic value as a cultural heritage, making it marketable at domestic and international levels. The most significant benefits of promoting batik products to the global market are bringing local values to global society, as well as the benefits of economic development for the domestic garment industry. Laweyan is one of the Solo districts specializing in batik cloth production. The sector in Laweyan produces painted and printed batik cloth, distributed not only in the local market but also in the global market. By using qualitative methods, this research analyses the innovation of batik products and marketing innovations of Batik Laweyan in penetrating the global market. The findings from this research conclude that producers in Laweyan Regency develop product innovations by adapting batik motifs with local nuances to international market tastes, and to encourage internationalization, producers use marketing innovations through a burden-sharing strategy. So, in terms of internationalization, local cultural values become an essential aspect of product innovation. In contrast, in terms of marketing, the burden-sharing strategy becomes an innovation to penetrate international markets. Through the burden-sharing approach, local producers build networks with foreign producers to obtain demand from foreign markets so that local producers can reach the world market by bridging the local industry and international markets.

Abstract

Forest fires and transboundary haze pollution have become annual problems faced by countries in Southeast Asia, especially in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore. Since most of the burning forests occurred in Indonesia, the country has been accused to be responsible for the problems. Regarding this matter, the ASEAN member states have established the ASEAN Agreement on Transboundary Haze Pollution (AATHP). A major obstacle in combating the problems occurred as a result of the differences in interests between Indonesia and other ASEAN member states. Indonesia itself also faces complex domestic problems related to the conversion of forests and oil palm plantations. As a result, this problem continues to drag on and cause a great number of casualties and losses. This paper then seeks to analyze the problem of transboundary haze pollution in Indonesia and its impacts using the environmental victimization approach. The results show that the political discourses, both among ASEAN member countries and Indonesia's domestic affairs, have become stumbling blocks to effectively combating the problem. As a result, these problems resulted in casualties and caused legal and security, economic, health, social and cultural impacts.
