Abstract

Gambir merupakan salah satu tanaman yang mengandung katekin.Kandungan katekin pada gambir merupakan komponen yang menjadi syarat utama dalam penentuan mutu gambir. CHS (Chalcone synthase) adalah salah satu gen yang terlibat di dalam proses biosintesis pembentukan katekin. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan primer yang dapat digunakan dalam deteksi gen CHS (Chalcone synthase) pada tanaman gambir tipe riau gadang serta untuk melihat kemampuan primer yang telah didesain untuk mendeteksi gen CHS pada tanaman gambir. Pendesainan primer dilakukan dengan mengalignment 21 data sekuengen CHS dan dipilih daerah yang memiliki kesamaan basa antara sekuen gen yang dialignment untuk mendapatkan primer.  Isolasi DNA gen CHS tanaman gambir menggunakan metode CTAB dan untuk isolasi RNA menggunakan Total RNA Mini Kit (Plant) dari Geneaid. Sintesis cDNA menggunakan kit Rever Tra Ace® qPCR RT Master Mix with gDNA Remover (Toyobo).Pada hasil desain primer didapatkan empat primer forward dan satu primer reverse. Hasil desain primer yang dapat digunakan untuk deteksi gen CHS dengan hasil cDNA tanaman gambir yaitu primer F3-R1(TNGTCTTCTGCACNACCTCCGGNG - CCANTC CAASCCYTCWCCDGTSGT). Proses deteksi gen CHS pada daun gambir menghasilkan produk dengan estimasi sebesar 724 bp

Abstract

Epigallo catechin gallate (EGCG), a catechin bioactive component found in green tea, has been used widely as a popular beverage in Asian nations for centuries. According to a summary of five years’ worth of recent papers, EGCG has a wide range of positive benefits including anticancer, anti-cholesterol, cardiovascular agent, anti-virus, antioxidant, and adjuvant treatment agent. The purpose of this literature review is to get more knowledge on EGCG, the most prevalent catechin derivative found in green tea. A substance with significant antioxidant capabilities, EGCG has a wide range of applications. However, EGCG also has a number of drawbacks in addition to its benefits, such as low stability, poor absorption, and the requirement for a daily intake restriction because it acts as a pro-oxidant and can be harmful if consumed in excess. As a result, authors attempt to mitigate undesirable effects and discover a way to maximize EGCG benefits through additional study that serves as research material. Furthermore, we are becoming research subjects in order to against the negative effects of EGCG, such as how to use probiotics to boost the absorption of EGCG during digestion.

Abstract

Stunting in children is a chronic malnutrition problem caused by a lack of nutritional intake for a long time, especially in the first 1,000 days of life. The prevalence of stunted children in West Sumatra is 25.2%, and in Padang City it is 19.5%, which shows a high stunting rate in Padang City. The Community service activities empower housewives to produce VCO with prebiotics as a nutritional supplement for stunted children in Bukik Karan Rawang Village, Padang City. Providing VCO supplements that contain good fats, prebiotics, and antioxidants improves children's digestive systems, increases their immunity, prevents them from infectious diseases, and supports the development of their brains and nervous systems. Technology transfer provides skills for mothers of stunted children to make their own VCO, and can also improve the family economy. The growth and development of stunted children improve, as indicated by measurable parameters such as increased height and weight, after they are given VCO with prebiotics. Weight gain between 1-1.8 kg, an average of 1.47 kg, and height between 2.2-7 cm, an average of 4.38 cm in stunted children. Education on diet and Parenting Patterns for stunted children is carried out by providing knowledge, training, nutritional counseling, and parenting to increase insight among mothers of stunted children about nutrition supplements and healthy and nutritious foods to achieve improved health. Providing VCO with prebiotics can enhance children's growth and development and improve their nutritional status to help overcome stunting.

Abstract

Pemeliharaan ternak kambing terutama kambing kacang masih dilaksanakan secara semi tradisional. Hal ini disebabkan kurangnya pengetahuan peternak dan rendahnya motivasi untuk meningkatkan usaha serta kurangnya pakan pada leguminosa. Teknologi pemberian Pupuk Organik Sarana Tani Utama (STU) untuk penanaman leguminosa Indigofera zollingeriana merupakan aternatif pembuatan pakan konsentrat berupa tepung dan pellet. Melalui metode STU untuk pembuatan pellet indigofera diharapkan peternak cepat memahami dan melaksanakan bagaimana menyusun ransum agar performan bobot Kambing kacang meningkat produksinya. Pemanfaatan Teknologi STU bertujuan untuk melihat kemampuan STU untuk meningkatkan solubilitas mineral dan memperbaiki absorbsi nutrisi tanaman (terutama fosfat) melalui perpanjangan hypa akar untuk lebih memanfaatkan pupuk. Kondisi ini diharapkan dapat dijadikan sebagai lahan yang cocok untuk penanaman Indigofera sehingga dapat menopang peningkatan produktivitas ternak sapi. Hasil pengabdian program berkelanjutan usaaha berkembang ini telah memberikann sumbangan ilmu pengetahuan di bidang Pakan Hijauan. Kelompok ternak Kubu Sepakat sudah mengenal penanaman Indigofera melalui pemanfaatn STU, dan mengetahui cara membuat pellet Indigofera sebagai pengganti pakan konsetrat yang relatif lebih mahal. Melalui aplikasi di lapangan dan metode Discussion group telah membuat hampir 70 persen kelompok ternak memahami bagaimana penyusunan ransum, istilah-istilah peternakan dan membuat tepung dan pellet Indigofera. Sehingga hasil pengabdian ini memperoleh metode terbaik untuk meningkatkan pendapatan peternak dan usaha berkembang yang berkelanjutan.
