Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of employee competence, training, and leadership style on employee performance through work motivation at the Human Resource Development Agency (BPSDM) of South Sulawesi Province. Employee performance is an important factor in supporting organizational effectiveness; therefore, it is necessary to identify factors that can improve performance. This research design uses a quantitative approach with a causal-comparative research type. The population in this study consisted of all Civil Servants (PNS) working at BPSDM of South Sulawesi Province, totaling 130 employees. This study applied a census method by involving all members of the population as research respondents. The data analysis technique used in this study was Partial Least Squares (PLS) to examine the relationships among variables in the research model. The results of the study indicate that employee competence has a positive and significant effect on employee performance, meaning that the higher the competence possessed by employees, the better the performance produced. Training is also proven to have a positive and significant effect on employee performance, indicating that effective training can improve employees' abilities and work productivity. In addition, leadership style has a positive and significant effect on employee performance, indicating that good leadership can encourage improved employee performance through clear direction, support, and effective communication.

Abstract

Study This aim For analyze And prove in a way empirical determination leadership transformational , commitment organization , and ability technical to performance employee on Field Enforcement And Investigation (P2) at the Service Office Main (KPU) Customs and Excise Type B Batam , with motivation Work as intervening variables . Approach research used is quantitative with method survey . Population study covers all over Customs officer Batam as many as 277 people, and sample study counted use formula Slovin at a margin of error of 5%, resulting in 164 respondents employee . Data collection using questionnaire with Scale Likert (1–5). Technique data analysis applying Structural Equation Modeling based on Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) and testing reliability instrument Cronbach's Alpha. The results of the study indicate that transformational leadership, organizational commitment, and technical ability have a positive and significant effect on employee work motivation and performance directly. Furthermore, work motivation is proven to play a significant role as a mediating variable that strengthens the influence of the three independent variables on employee performance. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of job satisfaction, self-efficacy and work environment on employee performance, both directly and through organizational commitment as a mediating variable at the Type B Customs and Excise KPU for Enforcement and Supervision in Batam. The research uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. The research population consisted of 173 employees and the entire population was used as a sample using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected using a questionnaire with a Likert scale and analyzed using Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results of the study show that job satisfaction has a positive and significant effect on employee performance with a path coefficient of 0.411 and a p-value of 0.000. Self-efficacy has a positive and significant effect on performance with a coefficient of 0.404 and a p-value of 0.014. The work environment has a positive and significant effect on performance with a coefficient of 0.451 and a p-value of 0.000. Organizational commitment also has a positive and significant effect on performance with a coefficient of 0.240. On the other hand, job satisfaction does not have a significant effect on organizational commitment, while self-efficacy has a negative and insignificant effect on organizational commitment. The work environment has a positive and significant effect on organizational commitment with a coefficient of 0.910 and a p-value of 0.000. Mediation analysis shows that organizational commitment significantly mediates the influence of job satisfaction and work environment on performance, but does not significantly mediate the influence of self-efficacy on performance. The R² value of 0.585 indicates that 58.5 % of the variation in performance can be explained by the variables in the research model.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effects of work process digitalization, technological capability, and employee competence on employee productivity at the Batam Type B Main Customs and Excise Office, both directly and indirectly through work efficiency as an intervening variable. Batam's Free Trade Zone (FTZ) environment requires fast, accurate, and transparent customs service workflows. This quantitative study employed an explanatory design using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The population comprised 445 employees, and a sample of 211 respondents was determined using the Slovin formula and probability sampling. Primary data were collected through Likert-scale questionnaires and analyzed using SmartPLS. The findings indicate that work process digitalization, technological capability, and competence have positive and significant effects on both work efficiency and employee productivity. Work efficiency also significantly mediates the effects of the three independent variables on employee productivity. These findings emphasize that customs automation systems, such as CEISA 4.0 and SSMQC, should be accompanied by continuous technological capacity development to optimize public-sector operational productivity.

Abstract

This study examines the effects of leadership, employee competence, and facilities on service quality, with self-efficacy as a mediator, at passenger terminals supervised by the Main Service Office of Customs and Excise Type B Batam. A quantitative approach was employed. The population comprised 277 employees, and the sample size of 164 was determined using Slovin's formula with a 5% margin of error. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). Leadership and employee competence had positive, significant effects on self-efficacy, whereas facilities had no significant effect. Leadership, employee competence, and facilities positively and significantly affected service quality, while self-efficacy had no significant direct effect. Self-efficacy did not mediate the effect of leadership on service quality but mediated the effects of employee competence and facilities. The adjusted R² values were 0.825 for self-efficacy and 0.879 for service quality, indicating strong explanatory power. The findings highlight the importance of strengthening leadership, developing employee competence, and optimizing service facilities to improve service quality.
