Abstract

A comparative analysis is needed between the two languages or known as contrastive analysis to identify their structural similarities and differences so that the material and methods of teaching will be appropriate. Further than that, this paper is aimed to give a clear understanding about how Indonesian differs from English in the sense of its language features, especially in plural form. It is known that the structure of the plural between English and Indonesian is different although some similarities were found. Indonesian learners will find it difficult to learn plural words because in terms of word formation, English and Indonesian are very different. The formation of plural words in English is through the process of affixation, while in Indonesian, the formation of plural is through reduplication and addition of quantifier and number. It is necessary to give more explanations and exercises to learn the plural of English because with a lot of practice, it is hoped that Indonesian learners will start to get used to the formation of the plurals.

Abstract

Developing tourism is not only related to facilities and infrastructure but also needs to be supported by competent Human Resources (HR), one of whom can communicate using English. The English skills possessed by some tour operators in Penglipuran Village are classified as being able to communicate. However, they still need to be improved based on the results of the pre-test given. There are still difficulties encountered both in terms of listening to English speech, understanding English reading, the ability to construct English sentences, and expressing ideas in spoken English. Thus, English language training is still needed to improve their quality. This community service activity is carried out through training through theoretical and practical presentations. The method used is Communicative Language Teaching (CLT). The activity lasts for ten meetings, with the stages of activities covering warmer core activities (speaking, writing, reading, and listening), and the last is evaluation. Overall the activity was done well, as seen from the evaluation results distributed to the training participants. All of them received a good response from the training participants. The participants' English skills also increased based on the results of the tests given to the participants.

Abstract

The phenomenon of fatherlessness in Indonesia is an issue that cannot be ignored, considering the importance of the role of fathers in character formation, emotional well-being, and family economic stability. The figure of the father not only functions as a breadwinner, but also as an educator, role model, and the main supporter in the development of children. Active father involvement contributes to the child's psychological balance, preventing negative impacts such as low self-confidence, difficulties in building social relationships, and an increased risk of mental problems. In addition, the role of men in society also contributes to community strengthening and inclusive social development. This service activity aims to increase public awareness of the importance of the presence and involvement of fathers and men in family and social life. One form of implementation of this program is the organization of a letter writing competition for fathers as a medium of reflection and appreciation. This activity is expected to be able to build collective awareness about the importance of the father figure, strengthen emotional relationships in the family, and encourage the community to appreciate the role of men in various aspects of life. Thus, this activity contributes to building a culture of appreciation for the role of fathers and encourages the active participation of men in forming a more harmonious family and community.
