Abstract

ABSTRAKKehadiran Partai Solidaritas Indonesia (PSI) cukup mewarnai peta perpolitikan di Indonesia. Partai yang di dominasi oleh anak muda ini pada Pemilihan anggota legislatif tahun 2019 lalu bahkan sempat mengalahkan beberapa partai besar dalam perolehan suaranya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif yang akan mengkaji apa yang menjadi strategi calon legislatif PSI khususnya Jurani Rurubua yang merupakan calon yang mewakili Dapil V Singkil Mapanget hingga bisa berhasil menjadi anggota Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat Kota Manado (Periode 2019-2024). Fokus penelitian akan dikaji dengan menggunakan pendekatan yang dikemukakan oleh Peter Schroder (2004:162), tentang strategi politik. Temuan penelitian menggambarkan bahwa strategi pemenangan PSI dalam mendukung para calon legislatif yang diusungnya, terdiri dari beberapa strategi. Adapun diantaranya adalah memainkan citra partai, menawarkan program baru bagi perbaikan kearah yang lebih baik, menonjolkan ketokohan, serta menetapkan target khusus, yang dalam hal ini adalah para pemilih pemula. Strategi-strategi tersebut, ternyata mampu membuat PSI mendudukan beberapa calon yang diusungnya. Kata Kunci: Partai Solidaritas Indonesia; Strategi Politik  ABSTRACTThe presence of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) has colored the political map in Indonesia. The party, which was dominated by young people, in the 2019 legislative election, even defeated several major parties in winning the vote. This research uses a qualitative method that will examine what is the strategy of the PSI legislative candidates, especially Jurani Rurubua, who is a candidate who represents Electoral District V Singkil Mapanget so that he can succeed in becoming a member of the Manado City People's Representative Council (Period 2019-2024). The research focus will be studied using the approach proposed by Peter Schroder (2004: 162), regarding political strategy. The research findings illustrate that PSI's winning strategy in supporting the legislative candidates it carries consists of several strategies. Among them are playing the image of the party, offering new programs for improvement towards a better direction, accentuating their character, and setting specific targets, which in this case are first-time voters. These strategies turned out to be able to make PSI occupy several of the candidates it had. Keywords: Indonesian Solidarity Party; Political Strategy

Abstract

Today,English is very urgently useful for all countries, so this is a good time to increase in any parts of humans’, such as education, economy,social,culture,industry,etc,and all of those parts must be supported as soon as possible.It is because global market for all fields are really available now.It must be moved rapidly.One aspect which has the role in increasing English is tourism.Even now, tourism is shaken by pandemic of covid-19 happened at the end of 2019 and run quickly in the early of 2020 (especially in Indonesia), but after about one year later, the government tried to overcome the situation, so at the early of 2021, tourism sector run slowly and slowly wake up toward to any features related to tourism by still applied the health protocol.            One effort to increase the government income, from the upper authority up to the lower authority,by preparation many tour guides who have very important role because there are many interesting ( tourism) places opened,both private and public sectors.These are really interesting things to gain many tourists to visit them.Day by day, there is a significant increasing in tourism sector and it needs to prepare so many tour guides to welcome the tourists.To overcome this situation, it must be available of local citizens as the human’s resources to master English. Short English course for the women covered as PKK group in Kolongan country, Tomohon District is a good way also to anticipate this one.            The short practical English course used the methods such as, explanation, discuss, question and answer,and direct practice of English, so the members could be increased their capability both in theory and especially in practice (more focus on speaking skill).This course aimed to support learning Englih materials effectively.Also, this activity as an applied activity for society at Kolongan country, Tomohon District could run well whenever and wherever they are.

Abstract

Bahasa Tombulu di Kawasaran, Tarian Tradisional Kecamatan Tomohon. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah (1) mendeskripsikan peran bahasa, (2) mengidentifikasi aspek kebahasaan dan pola pikir masyarakat Tomohon, dan (3) mengelaborasi penggunaan bahasa Tombulu, dan kesemuanya itu. dapat ditemukan dalam Tari Kawasaran. Untuk menyajikan analisis secara keseluruhan, penulis menggunakan metode deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekspresi bahasa mengandung nilai dan makna sosial budaya yang mempengaruhi pola pikir dan perilaku masyarakat Tombulu di Kecamatan Tomohon. Ungkapan bahasa tersebut berupa kata, frasa, kalimat, dan wacana. Kata-kata itu mungkin akar, batang, atau gabungan. Ungkapan tidak selalu denotatif dalam arti, mereka juga pragmatis.

Abstract

This research aimed to identify or found the value of character education revealed in the movie “Freedom Writers” directed by Richard Lagravense. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method and uses content analysis to analyze the data. The sources of data are taken from the movie “Freedom Writers” directed by Richard Lagravense and other documents such as journals, books, or articles related to the research from the analysis of the movie there is a value of honesty as a learning behavior in an effort to make someone trustworthy even in words, actions, and work. Tolerance refers to mutual respect for one another. The value of curiosity shows how they know more about something. The creative value is about having new ideas to achieve new things and the peace-loving value described attitudes and actions that are useful in social peace and mutual respect. The values ​​of honesty, tolerance, curiosity, creativity, and peace-loving are reflected in the students. Through the attitude of a teacher named Erin Gruwell, she can change the way students think from not looking at and gang violence, looking at religion, race, ethnicity, region border and looking at color differences because with her fortitude, she guides the characterless students to become a good character and want to achieve their future. It can be concluded that watching the movie “Freedom Writers” directed by Richard Lagravense can increase the character education of students.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out whether the use of the application of Students Teams Achievement Division (STAD) method is able to improve students’ reading comprehension. The students at SMP N 3 Tomohon in academic year 2020/2021 were chosen as the subject of this study, specified to the seventh grade that consisted 30 students. This research used pre- experimental design with one group pre-test and post-test. This study consited in five meetings. First the researcher gave a pre-test. Second, treatment and the last posttest. This technique in collecting data used test as instrument in form of multiple choice test consisted with 30 numbers. The result of this study found that STAD was effective in improving students’ reading comprehension posttest was higher than pretest. The mean score pretest was 40.5 and the mean score of posttest was 62.66. It can be stated that STAD is considered effective to increase students’ vocabulary.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to find out the students’ perceptions on the use of group discussion in teaching reading. In terms of purpose, this research was a survey research. In this research, the researcher asked students’ opinions about the use of group discussion in the teaching of reading in English by using questionnaire. In terms of the nature of data, since the data collected using questionnaire were put into frequency distribution, this survey was categorized as a quantitative research. The data obtained in this study reveals that (1) 94% of the students strongly agree and agree that group discussion is interesting and effective technique that can be used to increase and motivate the respondents to engage in in reading session; (2) 79% of students strongly agree and agree that being engaged in group discussion is useful for them. They had already interested in engaging themselves in in group discussion and follow all group discussion activities; (3) 92% of the students strongly agree and agree that their engagement in group discussion is aimed at developing and improving their reading in English; and (4) 87% of the students (respondents) enjoyed being involved in group discussion in reading session and had positive perceptions toward the technique. It can then be concluded that the students positively consider group discussion an interesting, effective and useful technique for it can be used to increase their engagement, motivation and reading skills in English

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out what extent song lyrics can be used to improve students‟ vocabulary mastery. The subjects of this research were the seventh grade students of SMP Berea Tondano. The seventh grade students in SMP Berea Tondano Class consisted 20 students. This research used a quantitative research. The instrument of this research was tests pre-test and post- test. The result of data analysis indicated that the mean score of the post-test was higher than the mean score of the pre-test. It concludes that the results of the post- test increased significantly. These results indicate that song lyrics are an effective media to used. It suggests that English teachers to try using song lyrics as a media in the teaching learning vocabulary as it more enjoyable and and stressfree.

Abstract

One of folktales is a fable. Fable is a traditional short story, especially with animals, as the characters, that teaches a moral value or moral lesson. In Minahasa, a part of tribe in North Sulawesi Province, also has a fable , entitled ‘Ma’palus’ or in another title some of Minahasan people said ‘Ma’sawasawangan Takaz I Mate’. This story told the good things that shown by some animals as the main characters. The characters of this story were a shrimp ‘sapun’, an ant or a small red ant (another word fire ant) ‘lalam∂ntik’, and a snail ‘ kolombi’. Wherever they went, whatever they did, they were always together even in any situation. The aimed of this study was to show the good, the positive things must be done by the human beings based on the role of the characters’ attitudes performed in this story. ‘Ma’sawasawangan Takaz I Mate’ or ‘Ma’palus’ (help one another) solidarity, work hard, diligent, are some of the good things that human beings should do in their daily life.This research was a qualitative research with descriptive method used to describe into narrative form while using participant observation technique by literary study and the writer was as the primary instrument.The result of this research was could be used as a good way to form the good behavior, attitude and characters of the people especially in Tomohon City. Also, this research could be used as a good tool to converse the National culture (generally) and local culture (specifally).

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to find out whether the used of songs’ lyrics could improve the students’ listening skill. The subjects of this research were the third grade in the A class consisted of 25 students. This research was quantitative research through pre-experimental design with pretest and posttest. Prior to treatment, the students were given a pre-test. The post-test was given to students after they had received treatment or had used the lyrics of songs to improve their listening skills. The result of this research shows that the mean score of the posttest was higher (8,08) and pretest (6,36). It means that the used of songs’ lyrics were effective to improving students’ listening skill. Results of the data analysis indicated that students’ performance in listening comprehension were better than before. As in the posttest result the students’ score and abilities were increased. This research is still far from perfection, however by doing so, it is believed that students will obtain a higher level of achievement or outcome in English class, and English teachers will be encouraged to employ this strategy to improve students' listening skills.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out students' perceptions on the use of movie for vocabulary mastery. In this research, the researcher used questionnaires. The research method utilized by the researcher was quantitative research, and the data that have been collected were presented as numbers and total using a percentage formula. The 240 students in the 12th grade at SMA Kristen 1 Tomohon made up the population of this study. Thirty two students who responded to the questionnaire were used as the sample by the researcher. According to the study's findings, the sample of students had a lot of experience watching movies, and their responses to the questions preferred to be positive. The utilization of the movie was concluded to have been advantageous and successful for SMA Kristen 1 Tomohon students in the 12th grade. It was advised that English teachers always use a creative approach similar to what has been done before, follow technological advancements, improve what needs to be improved, and gain from every consequence in terms of results.
