Abstract

This study aimed to analyze how sexism are expressed in JPNN.com and TribunNews.com online news headlines. This research used qualitative research, where instead of using numbers, the data collected were words and quotes. In addition, the researcher used stylistic feminist discourse analysis by Sara Mills to analyze sexism in women-related headlines on JPNN.com and TribunNews.com online media. From this study, it could be concluded that there were three forms of sexism that discriminate against female characters in JPNN.com and TribunNews.com news headlines. The three forms of sexism were women as perpetrators of immoral acts, women as objects, and women as inferior. Realizing the shortcomings in this study, the researcher hoped that further research that has the same object of study can be better. Also hopefully that attitudes that refer to sexism in journalism and society can be eliminated.

Abstract

Comprehension and considerations of parents that needed before put the children into preschool. Nowadays, many parents want to put their children into early childhood education, like Preschool. All of the partial of early childhood education, like teacher, preschool (institute or school), and especially parents are expect their children to get a good achievement or good progress in learning education. Preschool is an early childhood program in which children combine learning with play in a program run by professionally trained adults. This research aimed to help the teacher, parents and preschool to understand their role and contribution to gain the successful and effectiveness of learning process in early childhood education. Especially to help parents to take a right comprehension and consideration that needed for they to know, before put their children into preschool. This article was using library research. The data were collected from several sources such as journal articles, literature. This article showed right comprehension and considerations by parents before put children into preschool are important, because it could help parent and children to be selectively choose the institutional of preschool that provide they needed. Remembering every child had different needs. This article could help parents to identify the basics that should provide by preschool, including the good materials, activities, place hygiene, character education, and moral values

Abstract

This research discusses about Interferencing a novel called Around the  world in Eighty Days by Jules Verne. The work tells the story of two travelers that grow to a trio and then a foursome as they fight their way through countless obstacles to reach home in time.  The work focuses of a wealthy british bachelor, named Phileas Fogg, who spend his days gambling with friends at the social club and spent his night alone. Around the World in Eighty Days was published in 1873. The story follows two travelers that grow to a trio and then a foursome as they fight their way through countless obstacles to reach home. This research divided in three parts, first one is what should have we interference on this novel, the second is describing phileas fogg’s character, and the third is what makes the main character want to fulfill his dreams to be able to travel around the world.

Abstract

Speaking is one of the important skills in learning language and an indicator to determine people’s understanding especially student, in this case learning English. However, speaking was also a difficult task for student to be mastered due to the lack of confidence and creative method. The purpose of this study was to find out how students’ perception in the implementation of role play activity in speaking English to a junior high school student. This study was conducted at SMP Negeri 4 Tondano using direct questionnaire. In this study, twenty-four of the students from grade VIII were asked to fill and respond to  fifteen questions related to role play activity. Based on the result of the study, it showed that student’s perception toward role play activity was very interesting. All of the participant find role play interesting and help them to improve speaking English. Meanwhile, 75% of the student choose strongly agree that role play is enjoyable for them and 79% of the student agree that role play is an easy way to communicate in English. Then, just 4% of the student said role play is hard and 58% of them says that they need more time to practice role play. It can be concluded that students’ perception in the implementation of role play activity in increasing speaking skills of student at SMP Negeri 4 Tondano was useful and play significant role in increasing student’s confidence and help them to understand English easier in a fun and efficient way.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the form and function of WH-Questions in the Mongondow language. Mongondow speakers were the subjects of this research. This research was the descriptive qualitative method. The procedure of this research consisted of selecting informants based on certain criteria, collecting through a through interviews and observations, rechecking, the data, and writing the report. The data were analyzed through unitization, categorization, explanation, and interpretation according to Bogdan & Biklen. The results of this research showed that WH-Question ns in Mongondowwasguage were formed from question words, there are 10 forms of question words commonly used in WH-Questhe tions in Mongondow language, there are Onu, Ki'ine, Onda, To'onu, Doda'anda, Nongonu, Mongonu, Pongonu, Na'anda, and Tongonu. For the function of WH-questions in Mongondow language, the question words that form WH-questions sewasas bweren the front position of the sentence in the middle of the sentence when it has a time marker verb. Onu and Onda question words that used verbs of time-marking might use the prefix conn". The word "ki'ine" could be changed to "ine" when asking for an object description because the position of "ki" would be replaced with the words "koi" (to) and "takin" (with). So, the function of WH-questions in Mongondow language has different depending on the structure of the WH-questions sentences and the structure of the question words

Abstract

The goal of this research was to examine whether or not Collaborative strategic reading (CSR) might increase students' reading comprehension. In this study, students struggled to understand narrative texts. Researchers used one class with pre-experimental design, and the sample consisted of 28 students of class X High School Swadharma Werdhi Agung. Multiple choice is a method of data collection. Before being given treatment, students were given a pre-test and after ended treatment, students were given post-test. Based on calculations, the results of the data analysis show that the average value in the pre-test is 46.25, while the average value in the post-test is 81.42. The findings show that there is an increase between the pre-test and post-test values. This shows that CSR was able to improve the understanding of reading students in the class X of the Swadharma Werdhi Agung High School. Conclusion: Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR) succeeds, and it is recommended that English instructors use it to teach understanding of reading narrative text.

Abstract

The use of mobile phones should be able to make a positive contribution to its users, while increasing reading habits. We believe that it is very important for users to find information on several non-fiction books related to their needs and desires as well as developing a high-potential platform business model. This paper aims to map the relationship between user experience in exploring and reading nonfiction books using mobile phones. The study is a human center and a qualitative approach, which will carry out an analysis of the surveys distributed and user experience obtained from the interview results. Based on the data obtained, not everyone uses mobile phones to read nonfiction, because there are those who rarely read nonfiction using mobile phones and prefer to use books, but based on their experience reading nonfiction via mobile phones is very helpful and practical. The internet is also a supporting factor in nonfiction browsers via mobile phones.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji bagaimana strategi masyarakat pemilik usaha warung dalam menghadapi tantangan digitalisasi (shopee, lazada, bukalapak, dan lainnya) di Taratara. Metode penelitian kualitatif digunakan dalam penelitian ini untuk menghasilkan gambaran yang menyeluruh, faktual, dan akurat dengan metode pengumpulan data observasi, wawancara dan studi dokumentasi. Menurut temuan studi lapangan, pemilik usaha warung di Taratara menunjukkan kesadaran dan sikap adaptif terhadap tantangan digitalisasi. Mereka mengakui dampak negatif e-commerce pada pelanggan konvensional, namun juga melihat peluang dalam perubahan ini. Strategi mereka melibatkan pendekatan hibrida: mempelajari dan mengadopsi teknologi digital seperti marketplace dan aplikasi e-commerce, sambil tetap mempertahankan layanan tradisional untuk segmen pelanggan tertentu. Para pemilik warung ini menunjukkan keterbukaan untuk belajar dan beradaptasi, dengan tujuan menjaga relevansi bisnis mereka di era digital tanpa meninggalkan sepenuhnya model bisnis konvensional yang masih bermanfaat bagi sebagian pelanggan.
