Abstract

Indonesia is a disaster-prone country, especially in terms of geological disasters. Applying disaster education through simulation methods is expected to give the community the right knowledge and attitude toward disaster response. This study aimed to determine and analyze the knowledge and attitudes of students in higher education in responding to geological disasters through simulation learning methods. The population in this study was students of the Social Sciences Education Study Program from five Islamic universities in East Java, Indonesia, and the sample was 378 students. The method used was quantitative with univariate and bivariate data analysis. The study results from the analysis stated a significant difference between the knowledge and preparedness of geological disasters in students in the control group and the experimental group, with a P value of 0.0001. Thus, the knowledge and disaster preparedness level in students who received simulation learning was higher than in students who did not receive learning with the simulation learning model. This study implies that the simulation learning model can be used as a reference in implementing disaster education, especially in disaster-prone areas.

Abstract

Improving the quality of education in Indonesia is one of the challenges the government must solve. The ability to think critically about caring for the environment and disaster response is a significant issue. Students must master it because it will impact various aspects of life, such as social attitudes and religious tolerance. One solution is to provide the material using the innovative learning media, FlipBuilder. This study aims to determine the influence of critical thinking on social attitudes, assess the impact of essential thinking skills on religious tolerance attitudes, and find out the influence of critical thinking skills on students' religious tolerance attitudes when using flipbuilder learning media with the theme of environmental care and disaster response based on Islamic values. The research was conducted through a quantitative approach with an associative research design. The research was conducted on grade VII students of MTsN 1 Tulungagung. Data analysis was carried out using inferential statistics. The results of the study showed that there was a positive and significant influence between critical thinking skills and social attitudes, there was a positive and significant influence between essential skills of thinking and religious tolerance attitudes, and there was a significant relationship between social attitude variables and students' religious tolerance attitudes.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to determine the level of resilience in farming communities in flood-prone areas which include Bojonegoro District, Balen District, and Trucuk District. This type of research is quantitative using a survey approach. The sample in this study amounted to 153 respondents with predetermined criteria, namely farmers with land ownership of less than 1 hectare. Collecting data using a resilience instrument developed by CD-RISC, and then modified by the researcher according to the characteristics of the respondents. Data analysis used one way ANOVA test. The results showed a p value < 0.001, so there was a significant difference between the levels of resilience in the three regions with the highest value in the Bojonegoro sub-district, namely 112.805, which means that it has a better resilience level than Balen and Trucuk Districts. The frequency in which the Bojonegoro sub-district receives floods > 2 times a year makes the people in this area have the ability to adapt, so that their resilience is better. Abstract

This research aims to find out the planning stage of using the sociodrama method in social studies subjects in class VIII at MTs Aswaja Tunggangri. The method used is descriptive qualitative. The data obtained is through interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis techniques with steps including data condensation, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study show that before the learning process is carried out, it is necessary to prepare a learning plan including preparing lesson plans in accordance with the syllabus, determining learning objectives, determining teaching materials and learning resources, adjusting learning methods, and preparing assessments, the implementation stage is providing stimulus to students, identifying problems, collecting data, processing data, proving, drawing conclusions, evaluating the sociodrama method, namely attitude evaluation, knowledge evaluation, and skill evaluation. This finding indicates that the design before conducting learning is very influential on the achievement of learning objectives.

Abstract

Low income and job opportunity brings some women in Kecamatan Sendang to carry mobility to overseas to be TKW. Each mobility is done because characteristics demographic, social and economic of TKW. Every migrant who has worked in migration abroad has the characteristics and conditions as a whole can provide information about motivation of TKW to be a employee woment in other country. The aims of this study are describe the characteristics of demographic, social, economic of TKW. This research is descriptive research using survey method. The population in this study is the TKW in the Kecamatan Pagerwojo who had been worked abroad and its amount about 85 respondents and from Kecamatan Pesantren Kota Kediri about 74 respondens. The sample which is taken as many as all respondents because under 100 respondens. Analysis of the data that is used single-tabulation analysis and percentage to obtain the general description of each variable. This research shows that the demographic characteristics, social and economic of TKW are evenly they have an productive age in marital status, having an education at least junior high school or equivalent fot TKW from Pagerwojo and senior hight school for TKW from Kecamatan Pesantren Kota Kediri, type of preliminary work as housewives without personal income and family income is low that is Rp.500.000,00-<Rp.1.000.000,00 and family burden was 1-3 person,

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low learning outcomes and activeness of class VII F students of MTs Darul Hikmah Tulungagung in Social Studies (IPS) lessons due to the use of monotonous lecture methods. The purpose of this study is to improve students' activeness and cognitive abilities through the application of board-based scrabble media. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) which was carried out in two cycles with four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 27 students, with data collection techniques through tests, observation, and documentation, and data analysis using average scores. Student activeness was observed based on learning activeness indicators, while cognitive abilities were measured through pre-tests and post-tests based on Bloom's taxonomy. The results of the study showed an increase in student activeness from 62% in cycle I to 87% in cycle II, as well as an increase in the average cognitive ability from 18.51% to 77.77%. These findings indicate that scrabble media is effective in improving students' activeness and cognitive abilities in IPS learning. The implication is that game-based learning media can be widely applied to non-language materials to create more interactive and meaningful learning.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of teachers’ emotional intelligence on students’ learning motivation and critical thinking skills in Social Studies for seventh-grade students at SMP Muallimin Wonodadi Blitar. A quantitative non-experimental causal-comparative design was employed, involving all 25 seventh-grade students as the sample. Data were collected using questionnaires, tests, and documentation, and analyzed through simple linear regression and correlation using SPSS 26. The results indicate that teachers’ emotional intelligence has a significant effect on students’ learning motivation, contributing 42.1%. In addition, learning motivation shows a strong and positive relationship with students’ critical thinking skills (r = 0.750; p < 0.05). These findings highlight the important role of teachers’ emotional intelligence in fostering students’ motivation and critical thinking abilities.

Abstract

Penghasilan rendah dan minimnya lapangan kerja menyebabkan para perempuan di Sendang Kabupaten Tulungagung nekat untuk jadi Pekerja Migran Perempuan (PMP) ke luar negeri. Fenomena demikian sudah terjadi sekian lama dan seolah menjadi bagian dari dinamika kehidupan. Impactnya adalah terjadi transformasi sosial-ekonomi dan pendidikan para eks-PMP pasca kepulangannya dari luar negeri. Dengan menggunakan mix methods, artikel ini menggambarkan perubahan taraf kehidupan para mantan PMP dari sisi social, ekonomi dan manajemen pendidikan. Populasi dalam penelitian ini berjumlah sekitar 138 orang dengan sampel 100 responden. Analisis tabulasi tunggal dan persentase digunakan peneliti untuk mendapatkan gambaran umum masing-masing variabel. Hasil dari riset ini menunjukkan bahwa transformasi social-ekonomi terjadi ditandai dengan pergeseran jenis pekerjaan PMP dari agraris menjadi non-agraris. Dari pekerjaan buruh tani 13% pasca menjadi PMP berubah menjadi petani dengan lahan sendiri 15% dan 85% lainnya pekerjaan non agraris. Transformasi sosial terlihat dari life style yang berubah sebagai akibat dari meningkatnya penghasilan dari 54% tidak berpenghasilan turun menjadi 17% setelah menjadi PMP. Life style terjadi juga karena infiltrasi nilai dan tujuan hidup yang tidak lagi homogen menjadikan kesadaran kolektif melemah dan terjadiya kelonggaran norma sosial. Adapun transformasi pendidikan ditandai dengan tumbuhnya kesadaran pengelolaan pendidikan dengan menyisihkan anggaran sebesar 20% dari remitensi untuk tabungan pendidikan.

Abstract

History learning, especially at the high school level, requires innovation because it often faces obstacles in the form of extensive material that can leave students less motivated and make it challenging to achieve optimal cognitive performance. This study aims to test the effectiveness of the Snowball Throwing Learning Model (STLM) in improving students' cognitive ability and learning motivation in Dutch colonial materials in grade XI of SMAN 1 Kauman. The research used a quasi-experimental design with a quantitative approach, involving an experimental group and a control group consisting of 30 students each. Data were collected via learning outcome tests and motivation questionnaires and analyzed using t-tests and MANOVA. The results showed a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.000, which is smaller than 0.05, indicating that STLM has a significant effect on students' motivation and cognitive abilities. This model encourages students to actively engage in cooperative activities, exchange information, and develop critical thinking skills through the dynamic process of creating and discussing questions. In addition, STLM enhances classroom interaction, students' creativity, and their understanding of historical concepts. These findings suggest that STLM is effectively applied in history learning at the high school level and has the potential to be adopted more widely to support active, collaborative, and meaningful learning.
