Abstract

This study aimed to compare the growth pattern of depik (Rasbora tawarensis Weber & de Beaufort, 1916) using a Linear Allometric Model (LAM) in different seasons in Lake Laut Tawar (LLT), Aceh Tengah. The results showed that seasonal differences affected the length-frequency size distribution, length-weight relationship, and condition factors but did not affect the growth pattern of depik in LLT. Abstract

Penelitian ini menilai efektivitas ekstrak daun ubi jalar (I. batatas) sebagai anestesi alami untuk transportasi benih ikan gurami (O. goramy) sebagai ikan uji. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan dosis dan durasi paparan ekstrak yang paling efektif untuk mengurangi stres dan mortalitas pada benih ikan selama proses transportasi. Reaksi fisiologis dan perilaku yang diamati pada benih ikan menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak daun ubi jalar merupakan anestesi alternatif yang aman dan efisien untuk digunakan selama proses transportasi benih ikan. Konsentrasi yang paling efektif adalah 100 ml ekstrak per 8 liter air, dengan waktu pemaparan selama 8 jam, menghasilkan tingkat kelangsungan hidup sebesar 98,50%. Hasil ini menunjukkan potensi penggunaan anestesi alami yang berkelanjutan dan ramah lingkungan di sektor akuakultur, khususnya dalam proses transportasi benih ikan.

Abstract

Kelurahan Sapat, Kabupaten Indragiri Hilir, Riau, memiliki keanekaragaman hayati yang tinggi, menjadikannya kawasan potensial untuk pengembangan ekowisata pancing dan berlayar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi keanekaragaman hayati di Kelurahan Sapat sebagai dasar pengembangan ekowisata pancing dan berlayar yang berkelanjutan, menggunakan pendekatan Indeks Kesesuaian Wisata (IKW). Penelitian menggunakan metode survei dengan melakukan observasi pada transek dan plot di tiga stasiun pengamatan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan keanekaragaman hayati yang tinggi, meliputi 14 spesies mangrove, 21 spesies ikan, 8 spesies krustasea, 11 spesies moluska, serta fauna terestrial yang terdiri atas 5 spesies mamalia, 4 spesies reptil, dan 6 spesies aves. Analisis IKW memberikan nilai 78,49% untuk wisata berlayar dan 78,43% untuk wisata pancing, yang tergolong dalam kategori Sesuai. Faktor pembatas utama dalam pengembangan ekowisata adalah kedalaman perairan dan jumlah objek ekosistem. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan pengelolaan berbasis keberlanjutan melalui penambahan fasilitas wisata, pelibatan masyarakat lokal, dan pengembangan program interpretasi lingkungan untuk mendukung konservasi dan pemberdayaan ekonomi lokal.

Abstract

This study examined the population dynamics of Banana Prawns (Penaeus merguiensis) in the waters of Sungai Bela, focusing on sex ratio, length-weight relationship, and natural recruitment patterns. The results show a dominance of female individuals in the population with a sex ratio of 1:1.19 (male : female), which may affect reproduction processes and population sustainability. The length-weight relationship demonstrated a negative allometric growth pattern, in which body mass grew faster than body length. Shrimp recruitment patterns show seasonal fluctuations, with recruitment peaks in July and October, which are influenced by temperature, salinity, and food availability. This study highlights the importance of continuous monitoring of the sex ratio and recruitment patterns, as well as management based on environmental factors, to support the sustainability of P. merguiensis populations. Sustainable management, including habitat conservation and catch control, is essential for maintaining ecosystem balance and ensuring the sustainability of shrimp stocks in the future.

Abstract

Marble goby (Oxyeleotris marmorata) production relies heavily on wild catches, creating a need for feed-efficient domestication strategies to support sustainable aquaculture. This study evaluated the feeding rate (FR), feed conversion ratio (FCR), specific growth rate (SGR), and survival of marble goby reared in tarpaulin ponds. Fifteen fish were cultured for 56 days in three ponds, with five fish per pond, and fed twice daily with chopped fresh trash fish to apparent satiation. The data were assessed descriptively and using quadratic polynomial regression. The mean FR ranged from 1.30 to 1.75% biomass day⁻¹, cumulative FCR from 6.53 to 10.67, and cumulative SGR from 0.19 to 0.26% day⁻¹. Pond 1 showed the most balanced performance, with an FCR of 6.53, biomass gain of 154 g, and 100% survival, whereas Pond 2 experienced 40% mortality. The FR–SGR relationship followed a quadratic pattern, with a stationary point at 1.45% biomass day⁻¹ (R² = 0.3804). This value represents an efficient feeding range rather than a definitive optimum. Controlled feeding in tarpaulin ponds supports early-stage domestication and may reduce dependence on wild marble goby stocks.

Abstract

Feed costs and organic waste accumulation remain major constraints to efficient and sustainable catfish farming, creating the need to evaluate fermented quail manure bokashi as an alternative feed ingredient. This study assessed the most effective bokashi formulation for absolute length gain, absolute weight gain, and survival of juvenile Clarias gariepinus. Fish were reared for 60 days in a completely randomized design comprising four treatments with three replicates: 100% commercial pellets (P0), 100% bokashi (P1), 25% bokashi and 75% rice bran (P2), and 75% bokashi and 25% rice bran (P3). Among the bokashi-based diets, P3 produced the best performance, with an absolute length gain of 10.60 cm, an absolute weight gain of 55.33 g, and a survival rate of 95.00%. Dietary treatments did not significantly affect length or weight gain (p > 0.05) but significantly influenced survival (p < 0.001). The mean temperature, pH, and dissolved oxygen were 29°C, 7.19, and 5.46 mg L⁻¹, respectively, indicating suitable rearing conditions. Therefore, the P3 formulation offers potential as an organic-waste-based feed alternative, although it cannot yet fully replace commercial pellets and requires further evaluation of feed efficiency, nutrient retention, and waste balance.
