Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to examine the factors influencing students' financial management behavior, focusing on the roles of financial attitude, financial knowledge, and internal locus of control, while also considering financial technology as a moderating variable. Data were collected from 196 students at Dian Nuswantoro University and Semarang State University using a Likert-scale questionnaire. The findings indicate that financial attitude and financial knowledge significantly influence financial management behavior. Furthermore, financial knowledge significantly affects internal locus of control, which in turn influences financial management behavior. However, financial technology does not moderate the relationship between internal locus of control and financial management behavior. These results highlight the importance of comprehensive financial literacy and the prudent use of financial technology to support effective financial management among university students.

Abstract

This research investigates whether optimizing stock portfolios aligns with prudence in Sharia-compliant stock investment. It compares the portfolio optimization analysis between Sharia-compliant securities and the Jakarta Islamic Index. Each group is structured with its optimal portfolio composition to achieve the highest expected return for various possible risks. Two efficient frontiers are derived from both optimal portfolios. A slight intersection is found in the efficient frontier between these two portfolio groups, justifying that taking high risks in one group results in a low-risk choice in the other portfolio group. The Sharia-compliant investment is realized by choosing an optimal portfolio with low risk while still tolerating investment selections with higher risk, as long as they are aligned with Islamic principles. The findings of this optimal portfolio offer practical guidance for investment decisions and significantly contribute to advancing the field of Islamic finance and investment practices.

Abstract

Aqua, as a leading bottled mineral water brand in Indonesia, faces challenges in maintaining its market share amid increasing competition and boycott issues. This study aims to analyze the impact of product quality, product pricing, and brand image on purchasing decisions for Aqua in Kendal City. The research employs both quantitative and qualitative methods. Data collection techniques involve distributing questionnaires to 188 respondents and conducting interviews with 10 respondents. The respondents were selected using purposive sampling based on specific criteria, such as having used Aqua and being aware of the boycott issue. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression to test the influence of each independent variable on the purchasing decision. The results show that product quality, product pricing, and brand image have a positive and significant impact on Aqua's purchasing decisions. Brand image emerged as the most dominant factor influencing purchasing decisions. Additionally, the majority of informants are highly concerned about the boycott issue and disturbed by the Israeli attacks, which has affected their purchasing decisions. This study recommends that Aqua improve product quality, implement competitive pricing strategies, and strengthen its brand image through innovation and marketing campaigns to maintain customer loyalty. Aqua should also promote its neutral stance publicly, clarifying that it is not involved in the Israel-Palestine issue, in order to maintain public trust in the brand.

Abstract

Financial literacy equips university students with the knowledge they need to navigate their finances as they grow into independent adults. Our outreach to Malaysian students had two goals: to strengthen their financial understanding and to gauge their current literacy levels. We achieved this through classroom presentations to the students, Q&A sessions, and discussions with student‑affairs staff at Malaysian universities. The core material delivered in the financial literacy session focused on sources of funding for making investments. The findings suggest that Malaysian students deal with challenges much like those faced by Indonesian students, especially in developing essential financial management skills, as their parents entrust them with the responsibility of managing their living and educational expenses independently. Malaysian students also demonstrate the same awareness as their Indonesian peers regarding the importance of engaging in entrepreneurial activities, which help prepare them to become successful economic contributors. The material presented was highly relevant for students interested in becoming entrepreneurs.
