Abstract

ABSTRACT This study is a rhetorical analysis of the victory speech of Indonesian presidential candidates in a national election held on April 17th, 2019. This study aims to know the features of the pragma-stylistic mainly on speech act analysis as presented in the speeches related to winning claims by the candidates of the presidential election after the general election. This study attempts to identify and analyze the manifested speech within the pragma-stylistics framework, which is the speech act. This study assessed both presidential candidates’ victory speeches after the general election in Indonesia year 2019. The victory speeches were the speeches of Mr Joko “Jokowi” Widodo from Partai Demokrasi Indonesia Pembangunan (Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle) and Mr Prabowo Subianto from Partai Gerakan Indonesia Raya (Great Indonesia Movement). The speech acts theory was employed to analyze the presented data in this study. The data were obtained from the great news platforms in Indonesia. The result showed that assertive appeared as the most frequent type used in the speeches. The result was reasonable due to the goal of the speech, which was to address the data obtained by both candidates and assure people that they deserved the place as the next Indonesian president. Abstract

Pajak adalah salah satu sumber pendapatan negara yang dibebankan kepada rakyat berdasarkan Undang-Undang dan memiliki sifat iuran yang dapat memaksa ataupun wajib serta sangat penting untuk kemakmuran suatu negara. Sebanyak 80% pendapatan negara berasal dari pajak yang dipungut dari rakyat. Walaupun begitu, faktanya tidak semua masyarakat Indonesia paham mengenai pentingnya membayar pajak untuk kemakmuran suatu negara. Bahkan untuk mencapai target penerimaan pajak sangatlah sulit untuk tercapai. Maka dari itu, kami bekerja sama dengan KPP Pratama Batam Selatan untuk melakukan penyuluhan terhadap generasi Z mengenai Inklusivitas Pajak. Dengan adanya penyuluhan ini, kami menghasilkan berbagai macam produk luaran yang dapat diakses oleh siapa saja di luar sana dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran membayar pajak. Adapun metode yang akan digunakan dalam tulisan ini yaitu, metode penelitian kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif dengan cara melakukan pengumpulan data melalui wawancara, observasi, hingga dokumentasi.

Abstract

This study aims to find out how well the Venn diagram method helps students develop their speaking abilities. Classroom action research is the approach that will be utilized to measure student learning or accomplishment as a result of an intervention; pre-tests and post-tests are frequently employed in classroom action research. The study results showed that, following the implementation of the Venn diagram strategy cycle, the participants in the classroom action research considerably improved. The results show that the Venn diagram concept is an effective strategy for enhancing speaking abilities. Abstract

Dalam kegiatan pemilu, pemilih pemula cenderung belum sepenuhnya mengenal lingkungan politik sehingga rawan dipolarisasi dan diintervensi oleh kelompok berkepentingan. Oleh karena itu, diadakan Edukasi Pemilu 2024 dan Sosialisasi Pengawasan Partisipatif kepada Pemilih Pemula di SMAN 15 Batam pada tanggal 26 Juli 2023 dengan tujuan memberikan edukasi sehingga pelaksanaan Pemilu 2024 berjalan dengan lancar tanpa adanya golput dan potensi kerawanan lainnya. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut, kami menggunakan metode observasi dan literatur, yaitu dengan mengunjungi secara langsung SMAN 15 Batam bersama dengan tim Bawaslu dan menjalankan serangkaian kegiatan, seperti penyampaian materi, ice breaking, dan mengajak siswa-siswi untuk berpartisipasi dalam lomba poster dan video bertemakan pemilu. Oleh karena itu, siswa-siswi dapat mengetahui pentingnya menyalurkan suara untuk memilih pemimpin yang akan membawa Indonesia menjadi lebih baik di masa depan.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to investigate the effectiveness of cooperative learning in improving students’ L2 willingness to write in creative writing. To assess the effectiveness of the instrument in the study, classroom action research is the method that will be used to measure in student learning or achievement as a result of an intervention, a pre-test and post-test are commonly used instrument in classroom action research. The study’s finding revealed that the classroom action research group’s L2 willingness to write in creative writing improved significantly after the cycle of cooperative learning instruction. The findings support cooperative learning’s effectiveness in improving students’ L2 willingness to write in creative writing. According to the findings, incorporating cooperative learning into language instruction is a promising approach for improving writing skills in the L2 context. Abstract

This study examines thematic progression patterns in English economic articles on Batamnews.com, focusing on how themes and rhemes are organized to ensure textual coherence and effectively convey economic information. Employing Halliday and Hasan’s functional approach, themes are categorized into topical, interpersonal, and textual types. The research adopts a qualitative method, analyzing the introduction sections of seven articles using systematic segmentation into clauses and classification of thematic progression patterns into re-iteration, zigzag, and multiple-theme patterns. The results reveal that the re-iteration pattern is the most frequently employed (28 instances), followed by the zigzag pattern (26 instances), and the multiple-theme pattern (7 instances). Thematic progression patterns significantly contribute to enhancing the coherence and clarity of the articles, allowing economic concepts to be effectively communicated. The findings underscore the strategic role of thematic organization in digital journalism, providing practical insights for journalists and scholars in understanding how economic information is structured and adapted for diverse audiences. This study contributes to linguistics and media studies by offering a deeper understanding of the interaction between thematic patterns and the communication of complex economic topics in the digital age.
