Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of varieties and types of fertilizer on the growth and yield of cayenne pepper. This research was conducted at the Self-Help Agricultural and Rural Training Center (PAS) "Lestari Makmur", Jalan Wates Km. 12 Semampir Hamlet, Argorejo Village, Sedayu District, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta for approximately 60 days. With an altitude of 88 meters above sea level, the soil type is regosol, with a soil pH of 5.5-7, an average temperature of 26-32oC, and rainfall of 1,654 mm/year. The research was structured in a Complete Randomized Block Design (RAKL), with 2 factorial replications. Factor I is the cayenne pepper variety, namely the original, Bangkok and caliber varieties. Factor II is the type of fertilizer, namely, cow manure, goat manure and NPK fertilizer. Observation variables included plant height, flowering age, number of flowers, number of fruit per plant, length of fruit per hectare, dry weight of the plant, weight of fruit per hectare and fruit weight per hectare. Analysis of the results using variance at a height of 5% to determine the differences between treatments tested with DMRT (Ducan's Multiple Rage Test). The results of the analysis of variance showed that there was no interaction between variety and type of fertilizer on the observed variables of growth and yield of cayenne pepper plants.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the agronomic response of Ciherang rice plants during the vegetative and generative phases under deficit irigation conditions, as a benchmark for cultivation in dry land. This study used a factorial Completely Randomized Design with two factors. First, the level of water efficiency consisting of three levels, namely 300 ml, 600 ml, and 900 ml; second, the ratio of cattle manure and urea fertilizer also consisting of three levels, namely 80:20, 50:50, and 20:80. The observed variables include vegetative phase parameters, such as plant height, number of tillers, and dry weight of biomass, as well as generative phase parameters, such as percentage of filled grains and weight of filled grains per clump. The results showed that there was a significant interaction between water efficiency and fertilizer ratio during the generative phase, but no similar interaction was found during the vegetative phase. Furthermore, the combination of 600 ml water treatment with a 50:50 fertilizer ratio produced the highest percentage of filled grains and weight of filled grains. These results indicate that Ciherang rice can grow well under efficient water conditions, making it potentially suitable for cultivation in dry land.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the growth performance of stem quality in 1-year-old balsa (Ochroma pyramidale) trees using the census method (100%). The research was conducted in April 2026 at the Educational and Research Forest (KP2) INSTIPER Ungaran, assessing a total population of 53 sample trees. The observed parameters included diameter at breast height (DBH), total height, clear bole height (CBH), stem straightness, number of active branches, stem taper, apical dominance, and pest/disease infestation levels. The stem quality assessment was calculated using the Stem Quality Index (SQI). The results showed an average DBH of 3.99 cm and an average total height of 283.23 cm. Based on the SQI values, the majority of the balsa trees fell into Quality Class B (Good) at 77.36%, followed by Class C (Moderate) at 9.43%, Class D (Poor) at 11.32%, and Class A (Excellent) at 1.89%. Correlation analysis among variables revealed a strong positive correlation between DBH and total height, while a negative correlation was found between the percentage of clear bole height and the total stem quality score, indicating that young trees have not yet optimally developed a stable mature canopy.
