Abstract

This research is motivated by the low level of spatial literacy of students and the limited use of technology-based interactive learning media in geography learning, especially in disaster mitigation materials. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of the use of Google Maps on students' spatial literacy skills in disaster mitigation materials in geography learning at State of Senior High School 1 Jeruklegi. The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample consisted of two classes: an experimental class that received inquiry-based learning assisted by Google Maps, and a control class that received conventional learning without the use of the media. Data were collected through spatial literacy tests and student response questionnaires. The results indicate that there is a difference in the improvement of spatial literacy skills between the experimental and control classes. The use of Google Maps has a significant effect on enhancing students’ spatial literacy, particularly in terms of understanding spatial concepts, using spatial representation tools, and reasoning and analyzing spatial relationships. Therefore, the use of geospatial technology-based learning media such as Google Maps can serve as an innovative alternative to improve the quality of geography learning, especially in disaster mitigation materials.

Abstract

Art learning in elementary schools is important in fostering creativity and character, but it still tends to be oriented towards the end result and has not integrated the creative process and local wisdom values. The purpose of this study was to analyze the integration of local wisdom character values and the creative process in making jumputan batik in art learning in elementary schools. The research method was qualitative with a case study design in 5 elementary schools in the Cilacap area. The research subjects consisted of 5 teachers and 15 sixth-grade students. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis. Data were analyzed using an interactive model through data condensation, presentation, and drawing conclusions. Data were validated by triangulation of techniques and sources. The results of the study indicate that the integration of local wisdom values and the creative process through jumputan batik making in elementary schools takes place contextually and diversely. The local wisdom-based character values that emerged include creativity that develops from various sources of ideas; precision in the binding and coloring process; cooperation through the division of tasks in groups; responsibility in completing tasks independently; and discipline in following each stage of the activity. The students' creative process also progresses in stages, from exploring ideas, using guided and independent techniques, and selecting colors influenced by discussions and cultural meanings. It was concluded that the process of making jumputan batik fosters students’ creativity while simultaneously instilling local wisdom-based character values through meaningful and contextual creative experiences. Collaboration from all parties is essential in art project-based learning to optimally develop students' character values and creativity.

Abstract

Regional culture-based character education is important for students but is weakening amidst the shifting currents of globalization. This study aims to analyze the process of transformation of Javanese cultural values through language literacy practices in elementary schools. The research method is qualitative with an ethnographic design. Participants consisted of four teachers (T1–T4) and six students (S1–S6), selected purposively who were involved in Javanese language literacy activities at an elementary school in Cilacap area. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and document analysis. Data analysis was carried out according to Spradley's ethnographic steps, namely domain analysis, taxonomic analysis, componential analysis, and cultural theme analysis. Data were validated through triangulation of techniques and sources. The results of the study show that Javanese language literacy practices in elementary schools can transform Javanese culture-based character values. Teachers use children's stories, habituation songs, counting with a variety of languages, discussions, drama, and experience-sharing activities to shape students' characters. As a result, Javanese culture-based character values can be understood cognitively and developed into concrete actions in everyday life, such as (1) an attitude of andhap asor (humility) in interactions; (2) guyup rukun(cooperation) emerges during literacy activities and other learning activities; (3) tepa selira (empathy) is manifested in caring for friends; (4) politeness in language becomes a consistent habit; (5) ewuh pakewuh(tolerance) develops into the ability to accept differences in a real way; and (6) grapyak semanak (social intimacy) is increasingly visible through more open and confident relationships. Literacy acts as an initial trigger, and the school social environment becomes a space for actualizing values. The role of teachers, schools, and all parties is needed to support character transformation through creative, holistic, and contextual literacy.

Abstract

This study carries an analysis related to the pattern of marketing distribution flow of the convection industry in Ledug Village through various levels of marketing channels. Three convection industries, namely Enjoy Apparel, Kayla Jaya Convection, and N Convection, are the main focus in this study. The data collected during the period of 2020 to 2023 becomes material for analysis to understand marketing strategies and adaptations made by the three actors in facing changes in market dynamics. The results of the analysis revealed significant differences in marketing strategy and performance among the three industry players. In zero and single-tier marketing channels, Enjoy Apparel was able to cement impressive distribution growth, reflecting responsive adaptation to fluctuations in domestic and international market demand. On the other hand, Kayla Jaya Convection and N Convection experience more complex performance variations, with repeated periods of increases and decreases. A deeper analysis of level two distribution channels reveals a more detailed shift in marketing strategy. While Enjoy Apparel continues to show steady distribution improvements, Kayla Jaya Convection faces a sharper decline, while N Convection remains at a steady level of performance. In this context, strategic adaptation and the ability to respond to market changes are emerging as decisive factors for maintaining competitiveness in a dynamic industrial environment.
