Abstract

This study aims to determine the characteristics of fluid flow through root canal irrigation using positive and negative pressure methods used CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamic) software by modeling root canals and needle insertion in the root canals. This modeling used a steady flow, an incompressible flow, and uniform flow at the inlet side, and the roughness of the root canal wall surface is neglected (smooth wall). The open-ended needle with different insertion lengths applied for each method with a flow rate of 0.2 mL/s or about 6.63 m/s and the Reynolds number is 1376 (Laminar). The fluid has 2.5% of NaOCl with the density of 1060 kg/m3 and 0.001 Pa.s of fluid viscosity. After considering factors such as velocity, dynamic pressure, and wall shear stress in both methods, a greater velocity value in the apical region is determined by using a positive pressure method. Meanwhile, the negative pressure method shows the ability to lift higher due to shear stress, which is more evenly distributed upwards. However, both methods are qualified for irrigation replacement in the apical region.

Abstract

Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage–Enhanced Oil Recovery (CCUS–EOR) is a strategic approach to increasing crude oil production while supporting carbon emission reduction efforts in the oil and gas industry. This research aimed to determine the most suitable CO? source scenario for the CCUS–EOR pilot project in Field X using the AHP and TOPSIS methods and to evaluate its technical and economic feasibility. AHP was applied to determine the weights of four main criteria: CO? quality and specifications, CO? reservoir and supply capacity, distance and transportation requirements, and operational risks. TOPSIS was then used to rank alternative CO? sources, and the results were validated through technical and economic evaluations. CO? quality and specifications emerged as the most dominant criterion, with a weight of 55.8%. Technically, the implementation of CCUS–EOR was considered feasible with the addition of supporting facilities, including compression systems, dehydration units, booster compressors, and pumping systems. The projected CO? injection capacity reached 106,966 tCO? per year and was estimated to increase oil production by 146,000 barrels per year. Economically, the project generated annual revenue of approximately USD 11.62 million, with a capital expenditure (CAPEX) of USD 12.63 million, annual operating expenditure (OPEX) of USD 1.77 million, and cumulative discounted cash flow of USD 4.45 million at the end of the second year. The project achieved an internal rate of return (IRR) of 35.5%, a discounted payback period of 1.45 years, and a net levelized cost of CO? (net LCO?) of ?USD 27.6. The results demonstrated that the CCUS–EOR pilot project was technically and economically feasible, with the potential to increase oil production, reduce carbon emissions, and minimize dependence on routine flaring.

Abstract

An optimal environment for raising poultry requires a cool, humid climate. Negative pressure air circulation is widely implemented in closed-house cages, combined with evaporative cooling pads (ECP). Fresh air cannot naturally pass through the ECP due to the porosity of the material. The characteristics of the ECP and the configuration of the exhaust fan operating pattern affect airflow distribution, including velocity, temperature, and relative humidity (RH) levels. This research simulated the effect of varying ECP thickness on airflow distribution inside a closed-house cage. The simulation was run under 3D steady-state conditions with ECP thicknesses of 100 mm, 150 mm, 200 mm, and 300 mm, respectively. The ECP was kept wet, resulting in incoming air with 60% humidity and a temperature of 27 °C. The study used the K-ω SST turbulence model and SIMPLE second-order discretization. The analysis also provides recommendations for optimal exhaust fan operation during summer and identified restricted area. Five different fan operating patterns were tested, combining a small exhaust fan with two large ones. This analysis based on several parameter which refers uncomfortable environment, including: velocity, temperature, RH levels, and pollutant gas concentration. Hazardous conditions were determined by the maximum values observed across 42 iso-surfaces spaced 1 meter apart along the x-axis. A thicker ECP resulted in a higher pressure drop, reducing temperature differences inside the cage and leading to a more uniform temperature distribution. The 100 mm ECP thickness, the thinnest ECP layers, lowered the temperature inside the closed-house cage. The study suggests that, during summer, operating one small exhaust fan and one large fan is optimal due to the reduced presence of hazardous areas inside the cage.

Abstract

Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Uap (PLTU) berbahan bakar batubara masih mendominasi penyediaan listrik nasional sekaligus menjadi penyumbang utama emisi gas rumah kaca.
