Abstract

A study conducted at Khadijah 2 Orphanage in Surabaya shows how important an empowerment program is for orphans and destitute children. The aim of the program is to teach these children entrepreneurial skills through activities such as managing a business and marketing the orphanage's property. This empowerment method involves increasing knowledge and skills as well as participation in the management of the business. The results show that the children are more aware of the importance of entrepreneurship, especially through ventures, visits, and discussions that encourage them to do so. In addition, their interactions with prospective tenants generated new knowledge about property management and marketing, which enabled them to learn to communicate well and provide satisfactory services to tenants. The orphans continue to learn and change their marketing strategies. Not only do they acquire skills through this program; but it also gives them the opportunity to develop and contribute to their environment, paving the way to a better and more independent future. This shows that there is significant support in helping orphans and dhu'afa children prepare themselves for a better future.

Abstract

General Background Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) serve as critical operational guidelines for ensuring product quality, operational efficiency, and stringent quality control in the food manufacturing sector. Specific Background J&C Cookies Bandung, a prominent Indonesian bakery enterprise, implements multi-stage production processes for roombutter cookies and holiday hampers distributed locally and internationally. Knowledge Gap However, empirical research exploring real-time SOP implementation, procedural compliance, and quality control mechanisms across each specific stage of cookie manufacturing remains scarce. Aims This study investigates the systematic implementation of SOPs across production stages at J&C Cookies Bandung, evaluating their role in operational effectiveness and identifying execution challenges. Results Utilizing a qualitative descriptive approach via direct field observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, findings reveal that SOPs are systematically enforced from employee hygiene preparation to dough mixing, molding, dual-energy baking (170–180°C), and packaging. Novelty This research highlights how strict moisture control, roombutter formulation, and shape-based product differentiation (such as crescent-shaped nastar) simultaneously secure a 1-year preservative-free shelf life and enhanced market competitiveness. Implications Operational adherence to SOPs substantially minimizes contamination risks, standardizes food safety compliance, and elevates consumer trust in medium-scale food processing industries. Keywords: Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), Production Process, Food Industry, Product Quality, Hygiene, J&C Cookies Bandung Key Findings Highlights Standard operating procedures at J&C Cookies Bandung are systematically implemented at every production stage, from employee preparation to product packaging. The product achieves a shelf life of up to one year without preservatives by keeping moisture levels close to zero percent during baking. Product differentiation is successfully established through shape innovations, such as crescent-shaped nastar, and moisture-controlled packaging designs.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to examine the influence of price, promotion, and service quality on consumer purchasing decisions at Ayam Geprek Sa'i. Methodology: The research used a quantitative method with a descriptive approach. The sample consisted of 100 respondents who were consumers of Ayam Geprek Sa'i and had made purchases more than once. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, and data were collected through a questionnaire measured using a Likert scale. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) based on Partial Least Squares (PLS) with the help of SmartPLS software. Results:  The results showed that price and promotion had a positive and significant effect on consumer purchasing decisions. Price was the most dominant variable influencing purchasing decisions, while promotion had a smaller but still significant effect. Meanwhile, service quality did not have a significant effect on purchasing decisions. The R-square value of 0.539 indicates that price, promotion, and service quality explain 53.9% of purchasing decisions, while the remaining percentage is influenced by other variables not included in this study. Findings: The findings of this study indicate that price and promotion have a positive and significant effect on consumer purchasing decisions at Ayam Geprek Sa’i. Price was found to be the most dominant factor influencing purchasing decisions, while promotion also contributed significantly with a smaller effect size. In contrast, service quality did not show a significant effect on purchasing decisions. Additionally, the model explained 53.9% of the variance in purchasing decisions, indicating that other factors outside the study also influence consumer behavior. Novelty: The novelty of this study lies in examining the influence of price, promotion, and service quality simultaneously on purchasing decisions at Ayam Geprek Sa’i, with findings showing that price is the most dominant factor while service quality has no significant effect. Originality: The originality of this study lies in analyzing purchasing decisions at Ayam Geprek Sa’i by examining the combined effect of price, promotion, and service quality, with findings that identify price as the dominant factor and service quality as non-significant. Conclusion: In conclusion, price and promotion have a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions at Ayam Geprek Sa’i, while service quality has no significant effect. Price was identified as the most dominant factor influencing consumer purchasing decisions. Type of paper: Quantitative research article.
