Abstract

Generalization is a feature that students can think mathematically. Teachers can develop teaching materials in the form of textbooks to facilitate generalization abilities. This study was the developmental stage of ADDIE model, namely the implementation and evaluation. The study produced a textbook for 8th grade even semester which was oriented to students' mathematical generalization skills. The textbook integrating a realistic mathematics education approach contained five principles including phenomenological exploration, bridging by vertical instruments, pupils’ own constructions and productions, interactivity, and intertwining. The flow of activities provided more than one problem context, identifying similarities in patterns or strategies to draw conclusions related to the material as well as modeling exercises to facilitate students' mathematical generalization abilities. Based on the results of textbook implementation involving 30 8th grade students from one of a state junior high school in Yogyakarta, the percentage of students in good category met the minimum point of 75%, which reached 93.33%.

Abstract

There are prospective applicants for Civil Servant Candidate (CPNS) positions, particularly for lecturer roles, who still feel uncertain about the formations they plan to apply for. This uncertainty stems from several factors, including the time and selection process, the number of available positions, the number of applicants, and the passing score threshold. In light of these considerations, this article seeks to explain how the webinar on tips for successfully choosing lecturer formations influenced the decisions of prospective CPNS applicants in selecting a formation. The webinar was conducted in three main phases: pre-implementation, implementation, and evaluation. The results of this community service initiative show that the webinar influenced the decisions of prospective CPNS lecturer applicants in choosing a formation. Before attending the webinar, only about 30.8% felt confident in their decision, but after attending, this percentage increased to around 93.3%. Participants who were initially unsure about their choices became more confident after the webinar, with two main outcomes. The first was that participants became more confident in their original choice, and the second was that participants felt confident to switch to another formation.

Abstract

Computational thinking (CT) is a crucial 21st-century skill that enables individuals to think logically, creatively, and structurally. In mathematics, CT plays a vital role in problem-solving and conceptual understanding. This study examines students' mathematical computational thinking abilities in the context of two-variable linear equation systems. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach involving 32 eighth-grade students. Data collection includes a test comprising four items aligned with CT indicators: decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, and algorithms. Additionally, four students were interviewed based on their performance to gain deeper insights into their CT processes. Findings indicate that students' computational thinking abilities significantly improved following the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach. High-performing students successfully demonstrated all CT indicators, effectively analyzing problems, identifying patterns, and applying structured solutions. However, students with lower competency levels struggled with problem identification, pattern recognition, and algorithmic implementation, indicating a need for targeted instructional support. The results underscore the importance of integrating CT into mathematics curricula to enhance logical reasoning and problem-solving skills. The challenges faced by some students highlight the necessity of differentiated instruction and scaffolding strategies to support CT development. This study emphasizes the role of PBL in fostering computational thinking in mathematics education. The findings provide valuable insights for educators and policymakers in designing curriculum strategies that align with 21st-century learning demands.

Abstract

This study examines publication trends and research developments in the field of digital literacy in education using bibliometric analysis. A total of 389 documents were retrieved from the Scopus database (2005 to mid-2025) using the keyword Digital Literacy and related educational terms. The PRISMA method was applied to ensure data validity and relevance. The analysis shows a significant increase in publications starting in 2013, peaking in 2023. Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta was identified as the most productive institution, while Indonesia led in publication volume (n=54), although its international collaboration rate remained low (12.85%). Authors from the United States and Indonesia contributed most frequently. The journal “Education and Information Technologies” was found to be the most productive. The most cited articles focused on informal learning, digital generations, and non-formal educational settings. Thematic evolution revealed conceptual deepening and the emergence of multidimensional approaches to digital literacy. Eight keyword clusters were identified, with new topics such as “Artificial Intelligence”, “Self-efficacy”, “Augmented Reality”, and “Inclusive Education” highlighting future research directions. These findings indicate that digital literacy in education now spans technical, pedagogical, affective, and social dimensions. However, this study is limited to the Scopus database and only includes data up to mid-2025. Future research is encouraged to explore digital literacy in specific educational settings such as vocational, out-of-school, and hybrid learning. Additional gaps include teacher competence in AI integration, challenges in inclusive digital learning, and the need for locally relevant digital literacy indicators.

Abstract

Up to present, guidance and counseling (GC) services in Islamic schools tend to be homogeneous, often overlooking the diversity of students’ characteristics. This practice overlooks the effectiveness of differentiated guidance. Key factors worth considering for differentiating guidance services are numeracy skills and growth mindset (GM). In this regard, this study aims to: (1) cluster students based on their numeracy skills and GM with K-means techniques; (2) interpret the clusters’ characteristics; and (3) recommend data-driven GC service strategies. Quantitative method K-means clustering was applied to 321 grade VIII students from Islamic junior secondary schools in two provinces in Indonesia. Data from numeracy test and GM questionnaire were analyzed using the Elbow, Silhouette, Kruskal-Wallis, and Dunn post-hoc methods. The result of the study revealed three student clusters: (1) low numeracy and low GM (Double Susceptible); (2) high numeracy and moderate-to-high GM (Empowered); and (3) low numeracy but high GM (Affective Potential). Findings confirm that numeracy skills and GM do not always align, underscoring the need for integrated cognitive and affective interventions. Significant differences in numeracy skills and GM distribution were found between clusters. The different characteristics between clusters lead to diverse service strategies offered for each cluster. These strategies include a cognitive distortion journaling and belief disputes for double susceptible students; career visualization and leadership simulation for empowered students; and mathematical mindfulness and emotion regulation for affective potential students. Data-driven GC services are crucial in supporting students' academic and psychological development.
