Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the impact of the Kosabangsa 2023 program on improving the knowledge of fishermen's fish processing in Serangai Village, Batik Nau Sub-district, North Bengkulu Regency. Using both quantitative and qualitative approaches, we surveyed the group of fishermen who participated in the Kosabangsa 2023 program and conducted statistical data analysis to assess its impact on the knowledge, skills, and practices of processing fishermen's catch for income generation. The survey results showed that most respondents reported an increase in knowledge of fish processing, packaging and marketing after participating in the kosabangsa program. In addition, there was a significant increase in fish processing productivity due to the adoption of new technologies provided in the kosabangsa program for the communities participating in the program. However, challenges such as frequent power outages made the implementation of the program less successful. These findings suggest that the kosabangsa program is effective in improving the quality of human resources in processing captured fish, and that there is a need to increase the sustainability of the program to achieve more optimal results.

Abstract

Marigold (Tagetes erecta) is an ornamental herbaceous and medicinal plant that is easily cultivated, so many are found at various heights, such as in Kepahiang Bengkulu regency, Indonesia. In addition, marigolds contain nutrients and bioactive compounds that have yet to be fully utilized. This study aims to identify the morphology, nutrients and bioactive compounds of marigold flowers in Kepahiang district of Bengkulu, Indonesia. The study was conducted using a purposive sampling survey method by conducting non-experimental descriptive observations. Sampling locations were conducted around Kepahiang regency. The variables observed were morphological identification, nutrient content and bioactive compounds. Two accessions are found: marigold flowers with small petals of orange and marigold flowers with small petals of yellow. Orange marigold flowers with small petals-shaped protein (10.51%) are higher than the small yellow marigold (9.49%), while the protein content of leaves (5.96%) is lower than the protein marigold flowers. Small-sized orange Petals marigold flowers have a higher carotenoid content (166.41 mg/kg) than small-sized yellow petals flowers (85.89 mg/kg). But compared to flowers, marigold leaves have a higher chlorophyll content (246.93 mg/kg). Marigold flower with orange petals in a small shape has the best nutritional and bioactive compounds content for poultry feed

Abstract

Tujuan dan manfaat penelitian ini, untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian tepung eceng gondok (Eichornia Crassipes) Terhadap Persentase  Karkas, dan Income Over Feed Coat Itik Talang Benih. Penelitian ini mengunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan menggunakan 5 perlakuan 4 ulangan. Setiap ulangan terdiri dari 5 ekor Itik Talang Benih, jumlah itik yang di siapkan 100 ekor. Perlakuan yang digunakan A= Ransum Kontrol (tanpa suplementasi tepung Eceng Gondok), B= Suplementasi tepung Eceng Gondok 2%, C= Suplementasi Tepung Eceng Gondok 4%, D= Suplementasi Tepung Eceng Gondok 6%, E= Suplementasi Tepung Eceng Gondok 8%. Ransum yang digunakan terdiri dari  jagung kuning giling, dedak padi, ampas kelapa, ampas tahu, dan kosentarat, disusun dengan kandungan protein 19% dan energi metabolisme 2.900 kkal/kg. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa pemanfaatan tepung eceng gondok (Eichornia crassipes) fermentasi  dalam ransum itik Talang Benih pada level 4% dapat meningkatkan persentase karkas, dan persentase potong paha. Di level 8% menurunkan lemak abdomen, namun tidak berpengaruh nyata pada persentase  bagian dada, punggung dan sayap serta incom over feed cost (IOFC). Maka disarankan penambahan tepung eceng gondok (Eichhornia crassipes) fermentasi sebagai ransum tambahan itik Talang Benih dapat digunakan sampai level 4%.   Kata kunci : Eceng Gondok, Persentase Karkas, Lemak Abdomen, IOFC Itik Talang Benih.

Abstract

Diversification of local foods is a strategic step in achieving food self-sufficiency and reducing dependence on imports and a single major commodity. However, the dominance of rice as a staple food remains a challenge for national food security. Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L.) has great potential for development due to its high nutritional content, tolerance to marginal land, and gluten-free properties. However, its utilization in Indonesia is still relatively limited. In Batu Layang Village, Hulu Palik Subdistrict, North Bengkulu Regency, this community service activity targeted farmer groups, PKK, youth, and the general public. The Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) method was applied through socialization, training, and demonstration of sorghum waste processing, product downstreaming assistance, evaluation, and marketing strategy strengthening. The results of the activities showed a significant increase in the knowledge and skills of the community, particularly in processing sorghum waste into high-quality organic fertilizer. The evaluation showed increased post-harvest capabilities and a high level of participant satisfaction. In addition to producing economically valuable products, this program also broadened the community's knowledge of food diversification and encouraged forming joint business groups in the future.

Abstract

AbstrakKelurahan Sumber Jaya secara geografis terletak di pinggir samudra Indonesia. Kelurahan Sumber Jaya yaitu 602 hektar, yang sebagian besar wilayah merupakan dataran rendah, pesisir, dan kawasan rawa yang dijadikan  sawah dan tanah perkebunan/pertanian. Penduduknya merupakan penduduk asli daerah dengan tingkat pendidikan rata-rata hanya tamat SMP dan SMAKelurahan Sumber Jaya merupakan perkampungan yang terletak di pesisir pantai di Kota Bengkulu. Mayoritas penduduknya adalah penduduk asli Bengkulu yang menggantungkan hidup dari sumber alam yang dihasilkan di laut. Menjadi nelayan dan mengolah ikan kering. Pola hidup masyarakatnya masih kurang sehat. Masih banyak masyarakatnya yang BAB langsung ke Muara dan buang sampah ke laut. Sehingga perkampungannya terkesan kumuh dan kotor.Tahun 2016 pemerintah Kota Bengkulu menetapkan Kelurahan ini menjadi Kampung Bahari. Berbagai pembangunan fisik telah dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakatnya. Tim pengabdian masyarakat Universitas Muhammadiyah Bengkulu ikut bertanggung jawab dalam upaya peningkatan kapasitas masyarakatnya. Melalui pemberdayaan masyarakatnya dengan keterampilan peningkatan nilai tambah pisang Enggano. Karena selama ini pisang Enggano hanya dimanfaatkan sebagai pisang goreng. Dengan berbagai variasi menjadi keripik diharapkan dapat memberi nilai tambah pada pendapatan keluarga. terutama kelompok ibu-ibu rumah tangga.            Metode pendekatan yang diterapkan dalam pengabdian ini adalah sosialisasi, pendidikan dan praktek pembuatan keripik pisang. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan masyarakat antusias mengikuti dan termotivasi untuk mencoba berwirausaha dengan menjadi produsen keripik pisang berbagai varian rasa skala rumah tangga. Kata Kunci : pemberdayaan, Pisang, nilai tambah

Abstract

The use of synthetic herbicides in agriculture raises many problems, including weed resistance, ecological damage, and health risks. To address these issues, plant-based biological herbicides have been introduced as a safer and more sustainable alternative. This study focuses on plants that exhibit allelopathy, including those that contain phenolic compounds, flavonoids, terpenoids, alkaloids, and tannins, which have the potential to be compact and phytotoxic to weeds through various mechanisms, including inhibiting germination, root growth, cell respiration, and photosynthesis, and disrupting hormonal balance. Therefore, various water-extraction techniques, such as soaking, boiling, and maceration, were studied to obtain the maximum amount of bioactive compounds. Plants that produce potent phytotoxic compounds, including Sorghum bicolor, Ageratum conyzoides, Chromolaena odorata, Mikania micrantha, Azadirachta indica, and Tagetes erecta, have been tested to contain active compounds that are effective in suppressing the growth of various weeds. Adaptation and development of bioherbicides made from water-extract compounds in the field of research, although promising, also face various challenges, including degradation of the active compounds, variations in raw materials, low extract concentrations, and the need for standardization in extraction methods and formulations. Therefore, characterization techniques for potentially allelopathic materials, more sophisticated formulations such as microencapsulation and nanoformulation, and investigation of potentially synergistic compounds between plant extracts and beneficial microorganisms are needed. This study confirms that plant water extracts have great potential as environmentally friendly weed-control solutions that support sustainable agricultural systems.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian tepung daun talas terhadap persentase karkas, serta Persentase Bagian-Bagian Karkas dan Income Over Feed  Cost pada itik talang benih. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada Bulan November 2019 – Januari  2020 di Experimental Farm Jalan Danau 4 Kelurahan Dusun Besar Kota Bengkulu. Penelitian  ini menggunakan 80 ekor Itik Talang Benih jantan umur 2 minggu, dan ransum yang  digunakan adalah jagung kuning giling, dedak padi, ampas kelapa, ampas tahu, tepung ikan  rucah. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK)  dengan 5 perlakuan dan 4 pengulangan. Setiap ulangan berisi 4 ekor Itik Talang Benih jantan  umur 2 minggu. Pada penelitian ini parameter yang diamati adalah, persentase karkas,  persentase bagian bagian karkas ( dada, paha dan sayap) dan Income Over Feed Cost itik  talang benih. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan tepung daun talas dalam  ransum itik talang benih hingga level tertinggi 8% berpengaruh tidak nyata terhadap  persentase karkas dan bagian bagian karkas itik talang benih, namun berpengaruh sangat  nyata  terhadap Income Over Feed Cost.    Kata kunci : Tepung Daun Talas, Persentase Karkas, Bagian-bagian Karkas (sayap, paha,  dada), Income Over Feed Cost, Itik Talang Benih.

Abstract

Susu adalah cairan berwarna putih yang disekresi oleh kelenjar mammae (ambing) pada binatang mamalia betina seperti sapi, kambing, atau bahkan kerbau yang diperoleh dengan cara pemerahan sebagai bahan makanan dan sumber gizi. Yoghurt merupakan salah satu produk hasil dari fermentasi susu dengan penambahan kultur bakteri asam laktat yaitu Streptococcus thermophilus, dan Lactobacillus bulgaricus.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan sari buah nanas terhadap kandungan pH, total bakteri dan viscositas pada yoghurt drink dengan starter komersil.Percobaan dilakukan dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan . Sari buah nanas dibuat dengan penambahan A = 0%, B = 3%, C = 6% dan D =9%. Parameter yang diamati adalah pH, kandungan total bakteri, dan viscositas. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan penambahan sari buah nanas berpengaruh nyata (p<0.05) terhadap kandungan pH, total bakteri, dan viscositas. Hal ini menunjukan bahwa sari buah nanas sangat berpengaruh terhadap yoghurt drink. Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa semakin tinggi penggunaan sari buah nanas yang digunakan semakin meningkatkan nilai pH, kandungan total bakteri, dan viscositas yoghurt drink. Kata Kunci : Susu, Yoghurt, Sari Buah Nanas, Streptococcus thermophilus, dan Lactobacillus bulgaricus.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui pengaruh fermentasi ampas kelapa (Cocos nucifera L) Dengan Mikroorganisme Lokal Terhadap Kandungan Fraksi Serat. Percobaan dilakukan dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 5 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan . ampas kelapa fermentasi dengan 2000 gram ampas kelapa, 100 gram dedak 100 gram molases. Dengan dosis mol P0 = 0%, P1 = 2,5%, P2 = 5%, P3 =7,5%, dan P4 = 10% MOL. Parameter yang diamati adalah NDF, ADF, Hemisellulosa, Selulosa dan Lignin. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa dosis mol berpengaruh sangat nyata (p<0.01) terhadap kandungan NDF,ADF, Hemisellulosa, Selulosa dan Lignin. Kandungan NDF 62,39-69,72%, ADF 40,45-49,43%, Hemisellulosa 20,150 16,80%, Selullosa 23,02- 16,37% dan lignin 16,59 – 9,64%. Hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkn bahwa semakin tinggi dosis mol dapat meningkatkan kandungan NDF, ADF menurunkan Hemisellulosa, Sellulosa dan lignin dengan perlakuan P4 10% mol. Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effect of palm frond compost fertilizer on the productivity of Pakchong grass (Pennisetum purpureum cv. Thailand) as livestock feed. The study was conducted at the UPTD-PPT IB Livestock and Animal Health Service of Bengkulu Province from July 2024 to April 2025 using a randomized block design (RBD) with four compost dose treatments (T0, T10, T20, and T30 tons/ha) and three replicates. The parameters observed included plant height, leaf width, stem circumference, and number of tillers. The results showed that compost application did not have a significant effect on the first harvest, but a significant increase was observed in the second harvest. The 30 tons/ha treatment produced the best growth, with plant height reaching 620.7 cm, stem circumference 57.42 mm, leaf width 10.77 cm, and an average of five tillers per clump. This indicates that oil palm frond compost has the potential to be an effective organic fertilizer in the long term, after the decomposition process has run optimally. Thus, the utilization of oil palm frond waste not only increases forage productivity but also supports sustainable agriculture through environmentally friendly waste management.
