Abstract

Along the coast of the island of Java, there is a wealth of craft art (batik), characterized by its expression of decorative motifs and techniques. In general, the most prominent characteristic of the dominance of primary and secondary colors. Courage in expressing bright colors is also the visual identity of coastal batik. In West Java, Cirebon is one of the popular coastal batik cities. Several villages have become centers for batik crafts, including Ciwaringin Village. The batik that is developed in this village has the characteristics of Cirebon which was born and developed in line with Trusmi batik. Ciwaringin batik is unique in terms of coloring and decorative motifs when compared to Trusmi batik. In terms of typical Ciwaringin coloring is produced by natural dyes (natural dyes), a batik tradition that has long developed in the Cirebon Pesisiran batik culture. This study uses descriptive-qualitative methods with aesthetic and semiotic approaches to reveal the aesthetics and meaning of ornamentation in Batik Ciwaringin. One of the important findings in this study is that in Ciwaringin batik there is no expression of animate motives, which differentiates it from batik motifs in general because Ciwaringin batik was born from the Islamic boarding school community with strong Islamic values. Another finding is that Ciwaringin batik craftsmen transform nature not only as a source of philosophical ideas, but they also care about environmental issues. Concern for the environment is proven by developing coloring techniques using natural dyes (natural dyes) and avoiding synthetic (chemical) dyes.

Abstract

This research examines the diverse forms of community involvement in tourism within Pangandaran Regency, highlighting its potential for sustainable development. The region features 270 tourist attractions categorized into cultural, man-made, and natural types, with a significant emphasis on eco- tourism and outdoor recreation opportunities, particularly in the Parigi sub-district. The growing number of restaurants and micro-enterprises reflects the evolving landscape of tourism-related economic activities and underscores the interconnection between the local and tourism industries. Active community participation in various tourism organizations indicates a robust network essential for promoting tourism activities and ensuring local stakeholders play a crucial role in the sector's growth and sustainability. Despite these strengths, the research identifies significant challenges related to infrastructure development, environmental sustainability, and community engagement. Overcrowding during peak seasons places pressure on local facilities, while a lack of awareness about sustainable tourism practices among residents hampers effective participation. Enhancing community education on eco-friendly practices and establishing collaborative frameworks among stakeholders is essential to cultivating a sustainable tourism ecosystem. By addressing these challenges and leveraging community strengths, Pangandaran can foster a tourism landscape that generates economic benefits while preserving its rich cultural and natural heritage. Promoting sustainable practices and fostering a sense of shared responsibility among residents will be crucial for ensuring the long-term viability and success of tourism in the region.

Abstract

This study explores the effectiveness of social media platforms for promoting various tourist attractions, including natural, man-made, and cultural tourism sites. By employing a descriptive research approach with a quantitative method, the study utilizes conjoint analysis with 100 respondents to gather insights. The findings reveal distinct tourist preferences regarding social media platforms for different attractions. Specifically, Instagram emerges as the most effective platform for promoting natural tourism, while Twitter shows less success. Conversely, YouTube is preferred for promoting cultural tourism, while Twitter is less effective. Twitter is perceived as relatively successful for man-made tourism, although not as effective as YouTube. These results highlight the importance of tailoring social media strategies based on the characteristics of each tourist attraction type rather than solely relying on platform popularity.

Abstract

The distribution of tourism potential in Purworejo Regency has been well mapped and must be supported by suitable approach, one of which is the development of river tourism. The actual river tourism activities that have been developed on the Bogowonto River are adventure tourism activities, namely white water rafting. However, the potential of river tourism on Bogowonto River is not only limited for rafting. The development of recreational fishing products on the Bogowonto River can be an opportunity for tourism development in Purworejo Regency. Recreational fishing regarded as a form of tourism activity in accordance with sustainable tourism (Hall, 2019; UNWTO, 2021). This can be seen from the pattern of recreational fishing that does not focus on the number of fish caught, the arrangement of the tools used, as well as the positive impact given to the community on the economic side. The study (Butler et al., 2020) shows that there is a positive contribution of fishing tourism to ecological preservation. From the business side, the Government of Indonesia has regulated fishing tourism businesses (Regulation of the Minister of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia No. 19 of 2015 concerning Standards for Fishing Tourism Business, 2015), including business arrangements for providing places and facilities for fishing activities using special equipment and safety equipment including the provision of guide services. This study will identify and analyze recreational fishing tourism products based on packages, fishing equipment, fishing tour guides and supporting facilities in the Bogowonto River Area, Purworejo Regency. The long-term goal of this research is to contribute to the design of recreational fishing products for the development of tourist destinations in Purworejo Regency as a guide for stakeholders regarding the utilization of the Bogowonto River

Abstract

The Greater Bandung area grapples with various challenges, including spatial planning, waste management, water resources, critical land, and transportation, all of which are intricately linked to sustainability concerns, particularly affecting tourism. To address these issues, it is crucial to understand tourists' preferences for green promotion attributes in destinations. This study employs conjoint analysis to discern tourists' perceptions of various destination attributes. Findings reveal that Greater Bandung tourists prioritize environmentally friendly tourism activities as the most significant destination image attribute, while ecologically friendly transportation ranks as the least important. Additionally, when assessing destination advertising attributes, environmentally friendly visuals hold more importance than environmentally friendly messaging. Tourists prioritize sustainable product packaging, while they consider the destination's tourist product color to be less significant. These findings underscore the importance of clear communication, ecolabeling, and environmentally friendly practices in promoting sustainable tourism in the Greater Bandung area. By understanding tourists' preferences, stakeholders can tailor promotional strategies to effectively convey the destination's green initiatives, thus enhancing its appeal and contributing to sustainable tourism development.

Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of environmentally friendly online food delivery services in tourist destinations, aiming to align with the principles of sustainable tourism. The primary objective is to analyze how tourist values influence their attitudes and purchase intentions toward online food delivery in these destinations. A quantitative research method is employed, utilizing Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) to assess the impact of customer value on attitudes and purchase intentions toward Green Online Food Delivery (Green OFD). The study sample comprises 120 tourists with prior experience using online food delivery services during their visits to tourist destinations. The results indicate that the availability of Green OFD, derived from environmentally friendly local products, significantly affects tourists' attitudes and purchase intentions, especially among those who are mindful of sustainability issues. Tourists demonstrate positive attitudes and purchase intentions when they recognize functional, emotional, social, and epistemic values, including the feeling of contributing to environmental conservation by opting for Green OFD. The findings offer theoretical and practical insights for advancing sustainable tourism destination development.
