Abstract

The purpose of this research is to reveal the struggle to reconcile in Nicholas Sparks The Last Song. In conducting this research, the writers use qualitative research because the data are collected in the form of words and quotations from the primary source which is the novel itself The Last Song written by Nicholas Sparks, and secondary sources are related documents such as books, journal, internet browsing, dictionary, and some materials that can support this research. In analyzing the data, the writers use objective approach to get the information about Steve Miller struggle for reconciliation. The result of research shows the struggle of Steve Miller for reconcile the relationship. In addition, in solving the struggle, the writers conclude in Steve struggle that he did several things, namely by following his daughter's wishes, believing in his daughter, and fighting to hide his illness. Steve Miller gets several effects. Steve Miller more aware of the real love of God, being his daughter aware of Steve's Miller affection, his daughter knows the reason for her parents divorce decision, Making his daughter Peace with Self, and finally they can reconcile the relationship. So, in the struggle it is not easy people need to patient and never give up in facing them. Because there is no struggle without challenges, people must disappointment and tears faced it.

Abstract

This research is intended to reveal the impact of patriarchy in Hendrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House. In conducting this research, the researchers use qualitative method. The data are collected in the forms of word, and need the researchers’ active participation and also the deep analysis of the research. The researchers use Marxist feminist that considers describing women’s basic material weakness and women’s statues and class on the family. The researchers also use the three structures of patriarchy by Walby to classify the data. The first result is the impact of patriarchy in economic control. Second result is the impact of patriarchy in culture structure such as woman subordination and gender stereotype, and the third results is the impact of patriarchy in violence such as Violation of Women’s right and Verbal violence.

Abstract

This study presents the analysis of the Deceitfulness of Dr. Jekyll in Stevenson’s The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. The aim of this study is to analyze the qualities and conditions of Dr. Jekyll that form his deceitfulness by using the objective approach. The method used in this research is the library research method. This method is used also as the data collection technique to get information or references dealing with the object discussed. The objective approach is used here to analyze the structural elements of this novel like character, setting, conflict, and theme to reveal the research’s object. The result shows that the novel The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde tells about Dr. Jekyll’s deceitfulness. The main instance of the deceitfulness of Dr. Jekyll in the novel is when he hides his real personality and when he is being a murderer. There are several reasons behind the actions of Dr. Jekyll: his strict childhood, his wrong ambition, and his bad environment.
