Abstract

Transformational leadership is a dynamic approach that motivates individuals to work together in achieving organisational goals. It emerges whenever someone exhibits the ability to guide others' behaviours towards a common objective. This leadership style enables leaders to inspire their subordinates positively. The objective of implementing transformational leadership is to improve employee performance within the banking industry in North Sulawesi, Indonesia. The study focuses on three banks, namely Bank BRI, BNI, and BSG, which have branches throughout the North Sulawesi region. A total of 176 employees participated as respondents. Following the collection of data, an analytical method known as Partially Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) was employed for the purpose of analysis. The results provide empirical evidence that transformational leadership has a positive influence on employee performance, particularly in the realms of individual consideration and individual inspiration. Nevertheless, dimensions such as intellectual stimulation and inspirational motivation do not exhibit a significant correlation with performance-related activities. Moreover, the contingent reward aspect of transactional leadership does not demonstrate a significant impact on employee performance.

Abstract

Me ro' tradition mandates families of a recently deceased person to abstain from consuming rice and entering rice fields until the deceased is buried. However, executing this tradition is considered challenging due to rice’s position as staple food with religious significance. Furthermore, the difficulty of adhering to Me ro' lies in the virtue of self-management of the family members. This exploratory study uses an observational method and in-depth interviews to collect information. Triangulation, involving documentation, recording, and peer-reviewed sources, is employed to ensure the validity, impartiality, and ethicality of the information. Two elders from Simbuang Village and two students who are originally from the village, but have studied outside of Simbuang Village serves as the informants of this study. The result of this study reveals Me ro' tradition to require stringent procedures, social sanctions, and economic obligations, which renders it to be challenging to fulfil. Moreover, to successfully accomplish Me ro', it depends on psychological, social, existential determinants, and lifestyle factors. Therefore, practicing Me ro' is not solely contingent on individual self-discipline, but also relies on the community's involvement to encourage, motivate, and supervise the Me ro' practice. In conclusion, it relies upon individual’s self-management and the community's ability to collectively support and supervise in the procedures.

In the current era of adapting new habits (abbreviated as Adaptasi Kebiasaan Baru or AKB), it is an opportunity for the millennial generation to get out of their ‘cage’ and do activities outside the home. This study aims to describe the perception of the millennial generation on the application of adopting new habits during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research was conducted using a survey research method with descriptive analysis techniques to obtain this description. In this research, millennials are represented by state university students in North Sulawesi Province. The sample of this study was 400 active student respondents. The data was collected through research instruments sent online with the Google Forms application. The study results indicate that millennials are worried when implementing new habit adaptations when they are active outside the home. The research results also show that the first thing they want to do is go to a house of worship. Millennials in North Sulawesi also perceive an excellent level of trust in local and central governments in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. It can be concluded that millennials in North Sulawesi are optimistic about their future sustainability.

Abstract

ABSTRACTIn financial management, the main issue in financial planning is estimating future cash flows, because it is influenced by various risks. One way to reduce risk is by placing an emergency fund. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the importance of financial planning was seen by placing an emergency fund when individuals, families, and companies experienced economic problems due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This study aims to describe the communities’ awareness and knowledge and their readiness to face ‘rainy day’ by preparing financial umbrella or emergency fund, and whether the greater the income, the greater the umbrella allocated as stated in Keynes's theory. Descriptive research methods are used to get this picture. Online survey with Survey Monkey application was conducted on a small portion of the community in various regions in Indonesia. The results of this study showed that 91 community members were aware of emergency fund, although not all of them prepared it. The interesting finding is that high-income respondents were not of the group which allocated bigger emergency fund. Hence, this could not give fit descriptions with Keynes Theory.        Keywords: Pandemic of Covid-19; rainy day; Keynes theory; emergency fund ABSTRAKDalam manajemen keuangan, kesulitan utama dalam membuat perencanaan adalah mengestimasi arus kas di masa depan, karena dipengaruhi oleh berbagai risiko.

Abstract

The competitiveness among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) remains an important issue for stakeholders among various sectors. Unfortunately, businesses in the tourism sector have received less attention, particularly in terms of the social capital and innovation. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the relationship between social capital and innovation and their impact on the competitiveness of micro, small, and medium enterprises in Indonesia’s super-priority tourism areas. Using a sample of 40 enterprises, the study reveals that dimensions of social capital, namely trust, networks, and norms, along with innovation, contribute significantly to fostering competitiveness. Furthermore, networks play a crucial role in driving innovation within micro, small, and medium enterprises in the tourism sector. This research provides valuable insights for policymakers in fostering a more sustainable business climate, particularly by emphasizing the importance of social capital and innovation in enhancing MSME competitiveness.

Abstract

Abstract. Retirement usually occurs in the age range of 55–65, depending on the type of job. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, it may not be adequate to measure retirement only by age because many employees were forced to retire early. Thus, the issue of retirement planning has once again become a relevant issue to discuss. Most previous studies explain that retirement planning uses the theory of planned behavior, but unlike these, this study approaches retirement planning with the knowledge-based view theory. The theory of knowledge-based view can explain knowledge as a fundamental resource for an individual’s ability to plan retirement. Data was collected for this study from a survey for employees and professionals in Indonesia and was analyzed with PLS-SEM. Empirical evidence showed that knowledge sharing actually weakens the influence of family financial education on retirement planning. Therefore, it can be concluded that knowledge sharing cannot strengthen family education to make better retirement planning. This study also revealed the possibility that knowledge sharing could change employee retirement planning into other financial plans that are also beneficial for retirement. Keywords: Retirement planning; theory planned behavior; knowledge-based view; knowledge sharing; financial planning Abstrak. Kata kunci: Perencanaan pensiun; theory planned behavior; knowledge-based view; berbagi pengetahuan; perencanaan keuangan

Abstract

The entrepreneurial spirit, which encompasses creativity and innovation, is linked to competitiveness and is essential in higher education to encourage innovative teaching methods. This study investigates the relationship between leadership behaviour, entrepreneurial motivation, and entrepreneurial spirit among teaching and education staff at Universitas Negeri Manado. This research novelty examines the relationship between entrepreneurial spirit and efforts to develop innovative learning methods for educators and education personnel in the higher education sector, a topic that has been largely overlooked in previous research. The creative destruction (CD) theory underpins this research, which describes how innovation drives economic restructuring and growth. Leadership, especially supportive, and motivation, both intrinsic and extrinsic, are critical in nurturing entrepreneurial spirit. This study employed a quantitative survey methodology with 92 respondents from teaching and education staff at Universitas Negeri Manado. Data analysis indicated that supportive leadership and entrepreneurial motivation significantly encourage entrepreneurial spirit. The findings indicated that the supportive leader and motivational factors have a notable impact on innovation, which in turn can foster an entrepreneurial spirit. This study emphasises the necessity for higher education leaders to recognise their role in fostering entrepreneurial spirit to drive institutional advancement and efficiency.
