Abstract

Recently, there has been a noticeable increase in the significance of students' emotional intelligence (EI) and personality traits regarding self-awareness, self-management, and social awareness. This is to guarantee that their workforce is trained successfully and continuously produces good results. The aims of the study are as follows. (1) to assess how well the proposed model fits the students' data, and (2) to identify the connection between EI domains. The authors opted for a cross-sectional study design by questionnaire survei for EI domains. A total of 1,284 students were involved in this research. The purposive design procedure that resulted in the sample selection involved five departments within the Professional Educational Programs at Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto in Indonesia. The structural model includes all of the interdependencies between the variables. Statistics for Windows 24.0 and Analysing Moment Structures (AMOS) 24 Version were utilized for data analysis. According to the findings, students' levels of self-awareness significantly affect their ability to self-manage in professional education programs, and vice versa. Thus, our study strengthened the idea that EI with an emotion-response process mask is a quality requirement for effective students in any kind of learning environment.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic forced a sudden shift to emergency remote teaching—commonly referred to as panic-gogy—which exacerbated students’ learning challenges, particularly in mathematics. This study addresses the urgent need for responsive instructional designs by integrating parental insights into the learning process. Framed within the didactical design research (DDR) methodology, this study aimed to develop an alternative learning approach to reduce obstacles in students’ understanding of fractions during panic-gogy. Participants included 56 junior high school students (aged 13–18) and 71 parents (aged 35–50) from a school in Indonesia. Data were collected using a fraction concept test, semi-structured interviews, a hybrid mathematics module, and documentation analysis. Thematic qualitative analysis was conducted with the aid of NVivo 12. Results revealed that students struggled with interpreting the meaning of fractions, often due to inadequate teacher explanations. Parental feedback emphasized a strong preference for face-to-face instruction, even when delivered via online platforms. The hybrid mathematics module, designed in response to these findings, successfully integrated contextual problem situations to support the construction of fractional meaning and reduce learning barriers. This study contributes to the body of knowledge by highlighting the value of involving parents in instructional design and demonstrating how hybrid modules can mediate learning in crisis contexts. The findings have implications for developing resilient educational strategies in future disruptions.

Abstract

In the 21st century, learning requires high-level thinking processes and mastery of technology. The benefits of using technology accompanied by high-level thinking include 1) having many alternative solutions to problems, 2) be a good co-worker, and 3) being more independent in finding solutions. Also, learning mathematics is one of the main lessons in class and has the main characteristics of structured learning and has a systematic flow. The attributes of existing mathematics learning may support the technology learning process, which also has an orderly system and algorithm. This study employed a cross-sectional survey-it exploring high-level thinking and TPACK in mathematics learning. The subject was 182 pre-service mathematics teachers in Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto, Indonesia. This study showed high-level thinking, and TPACK indicated that the item was sufficient to perform factor analysis. The analysis results found that the Kaiser Meyer-Oikin (KMO) value for items in the high-level thinking construct questionnaire with 12 items showed 0.657 (l> 0.50). Subsequently, in TPACK construct questionnaire with 32 items showed 0.783. The results stated that higher-order thinking is the essential capital in learning mathematics. Therefore, learning mathematics also demands the dynamism of technological developments to support the success of learning mathematics.
