Abstract

Relationships are a fundamental feature of human life, making the study of relationships a crucial point in psychology, including within the context of schools. In addition to being a place of learning for students, schools serve as a workplace where teachers establish and maintain relationships. However, the majority of research conducted in schools still focuses only on student-student and teacher-student relationships. Moreover, there is limited specific research examining the importance of the quality of interpersonal relationships among teachers. This quantitative survey study aims to investigate the role of teacher-student interpersonal relationship quality as a predictor of Well-Being within the PERMA framework, encompassing Positive Emotion, Work Engagement, Meaning in Life, and Innovative Work Behavior among teachers in schools. Data were collected through offline and online surveys involving 455 teachers in public schools in Yogyakarta. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to test the model of interpersonal relationships among fellow teachers. The model testing indicated a good fit with the indices: χ2(35, N=455) = 132; p<0.001; CFI = 0.977; SRMR = 0.041; RMSEA = 0.073, meeting the criteria set by Hair, Black, Babin, & Anderson (2019). Furthermore, overall, the quality of teacher-student interpersonal relationships significantly predicted the elements of psychological well-being, including affect (β = 0.631; p < 0.001), meaning in life (β = 0.549, p < 0.001), work engagement (β = 0.489; p < 0.001), and innovative work behavior among teachers in schools (β = 0.354; p < 0.001).

Abstract

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, face-to-face learning has been transformed into online learning. This phenomenon was really challenging for teachers because they were not used to it. The adaptability of the teacher becomes an indispensable aspect to face the problem. The ability to integrate materials, pedagogy and technology or technological pedagogical and content knowledge (TPACK) supported the adaptability in implementing online learning. The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of TPACK on professional adaptability. A sample of 457 junior and senior high school teachers in Indonesia and Malaysia completed the technological pedagogical and content knowledge scale and the career adaptability scale. Based on partial least square analysis, this study found that TPACK played a role in predicting four dimensions of career adaptability: concern, control, curiosity, and confidence. This structural model was also supported with path analysis. Therefore, TPACK becomes an essential aspect in influencing teachers' career adaptability.

Abstract

Working as a police officer requires readiness to face the risk of danger and heavy workload, high pressure when facing threats and uncertain situations. This study was motivated by the phenomenon of the discovery of a low level of resilience of police members. Self-efficacy and perceived organizational support are assumed to be supporting factors in the formation of resilience of police members of the Samapta Directorate. This study aims to examine the role of self-efficacy and perceived organizational support in increasing the resilience of police members of the Samapta Directorate of the DIY Regional Police. This study uses a quantitative method with an explanatory survey research type. The sample of this study used 122 members of the Samapta Directorate of the DIY Regional Police who were selected using the proportionate stratified random sampling technique. Resilience was measured using the CD-RISC 10 scale, self-efficacy is measured by the GSE scale and POS is measured by the SPOS scale. Hypothesis testing using multiple regression analysis with the help of JASP 19.3 program. The results of the study indicate that self-efficacy and perceived organizational support have a significant effect on resilience and are proven to be factors in forming the resilience of members of the Samapta Directorate.

Abstract

This study explores how organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) affects teacher happiness at work (HAW) among Islamic-based junior high school teachers. Happier teachers are more effective educators, as workplace happiness enhances their ability to create a conducive learning environment. Schools that foster positive work environments boost teachers' organizational citizenship behavior. The results indicated that OCB dimensions significantly affected HAW, with conscientiousness having the strongest effect. A quantitative approach was employed, using a sample of 131 Islamic-based junior high school teachers. Instruments measuring HAW and OCB were adapted from existing research and analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and Partial Least Squares (PLS). A quantitative cross-sectional survey was conducted using CFA and PLS to analyze multidimensional relationships. The path coefficient was 0.195 (p-value = 0.000), indicating that altruism significantly affects HAW. The path coefficient was 0.184 (p-value = 0.000), indicating that civic virtue significantly affects HAW. The path coefficient was 0.282 (p-value = 0.000), indicating conscientiousness significantly affects HAW. The path coefficient was 0.187 (p-value = 0.000), indicating that courtesy significantly affects HAW. The path coefficient was 0.217 (p-value = 0.000), indicating that sportsmanship significantly affects HAW. The R-Squared was 0.828, which means the contribution of OCB to HAW was 82.8%, which means H6 is accepted. These findings have important implications for both theory and practice, as they highlight the role of OCB in enhancing teacher happiness, particularly in Islamic-based school settings.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: The purpose of this study was to provide psychometric evidence of the Optimism Scale based on Explanatory Style in high school students in Indonesia. Methodology: The type of research is quantitative research with a survey type. This study was conducted with EFA factor analysis, which was used for initial exploration in scale development and CFA, which was used to confirm a predetermined factor model based on the results of EFA., the optimism scale consisted of 32 items, and the number of subjects in this study was 186 students. The data were analysed using the Jamovi program version 2.4.11. Main Findings: The results of this study indicate that there are 3 factors after EFA, and after CFA there are 7 items that are dropped, leaving 25 items with CFA values of CFI = 0.911, TLI = 0.902, SRMR = 0.0553, RMSEA = 0.0508 and McDonald's Omega reliability of 0.872 and Cronbach's alpha of 0.872. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study offers an explanatory style-based optimism scale with comprehensive psychometric validity evidence in Indonesian high school students. This study makes a novel contribution in the development of instruments that are appropriate to the Indonesian cultural context, as well as supporting the measurement of optimism in educational settings to understand students’ positive thinking patterns in order to improve their psychological well-being and academic achievement.

Abstract

Innovative work behavior in teachers is a determining factor in achieving competitive advantage and organizational success, especially in school organizations. However, the majority of teachers still tend to be reluctant to innovate in their work, which impacts the quality of vocational high school graduates, which is still relatively low. Several previous studies have shown the role of perceived organizational support and knowledge sharing. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey research type. The subjects in this study were 277 vocational high school teachers in Kebumen Regency, with a multistage random sampling technique. Innovative work behavior was measured using the Innovative Work Behavior Scale from Jong and Hartog (2010). POS was measured using the Survey of perceived organizational support (SPOS) from Eisenberger et al., (1986), and knowledge sharing was measured using the Knowledge sharing behavior scale from Kim et al., (2013). Content validity was tested using Gregory analysis, and obtained a score of 1 (> 0.8). Reliability test using Alpha Croncbach's and obtained results on the Innovative Work Behavior Scale is 0.899, Survey of perceived organizational support (SPOS) is 0.926 and Knowledge sharing behavior scale is 0.842. Data analysis using multiple linear regression test using SPSS Version 25 program. The results of the study show that perceived organizational support and knowledge sharing are predictors of innovative work behavior in vocational high school teachers.
