Abstract

This research was conducted due to the minimal role of teacher in IPAS learning. Research background this study is based on the observation that many students exhibit poor behavior and during lessons delivered by the teacher at the front of the class, many students do not focus on paying attention. It is also evident that the teacher has not fully implemented their role in the learning process; for example, the teacher does not provide reflection at the end of the lesson and has not been able to create a conducive and enjoyable learning atmosphere. This research aims to describe the role of the fifth-grade teacher in teaching Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) at SD Negeri 01 Ulak Karang Padang. This study uses a qualitative approach. The subjects of the research are the fifth-grade homeroom teacher and the fifth-grade students. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis is conducted through stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Based on the results obtained, the teacher in the classroom during IPAS lessons plays the roles of facilitator, motivator, and guide. The teacher needs to better implement their role during the learning process. The teacher should also stimulate students’ enthusiasm and motivation to learn IPAS. The teacher is encouraged to maximize their roles as motivator, facilitator, and guide.

Abstract

Thinking ability is not only about generation new ideas but also involves the ability to see relationships between concepts, ask critical questions, and produce original solutions. This study aims to analyze the creative thinking skills of fifth-grade students in IPAS (Natural and Social Sciences) learning at SD Negeri 01 Ulak Karang Selatan. Using a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that the manifestation of students' creative thinking skills varies. Fluency is the most prominent indicator, while flexibility and originality are still limited. The ability for elaboration tends to align with the uniqueness of an idea. Although the teacher has implemented strategies to encourage creativity, such as using open-ended questions and simple project assignments, their implementation still faces major obstacles like limited time, inadequate facilities, and students' passive habits. Thus, this study concludes that students' creative potential has not been optimally explored. A commitment from the school is needed to provide resources and teacher training to support the continuous development of creative thinking skills.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the demands of the Merdeka Curriculum, which emphasizes student-centered learning, one of which is through differentiated instruction. In the context of Civics Education (PKN), this approach is essential to accommodate differences in students' abilities, interests, and learning styles. The aim of this research is to describe the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum through differentiated instruction and its impact on the PKN learning outcomes of fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 08 Kinali. The PKN learning outcomes showed significant improvement in both conceptual understanding and civic attitudes. Challenges encountered included time constraints and the need to enhance teachers’ capacity to design effective differentiated learning. The conclusion of this study is that the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum through differentiated instruction has a positive contribution to improving students' learning outcomes in PKN. Continued support from the school and teacher training is necessary to optimize this approach in classroom practice.
