Abstract

ABSTRACT Community service activities on Training on Making Herbal Cosmetics at RT.02, Mendalo Indah village, Jambi Luar Kota District aim as follows: a)  Providing knowledge to partner communities about the benefits of herbal plants in the form of cosmetic preparations in order to increase the use value of many herbal plants around the RT.02 Mendalo Indah community; b) Provide technical training to partner communities on how to make herbal cosmetics including masks, scrubs, moisturizers and body scrubs made from active herbal ingredients and how to use them. The results of this PKM activity are expected to form knowledge, competence and empower community independence in RT 02 Mendalo Indah in utilizing and processing medicinal plants around the house into herbal cosmetics in the form of scrubs, body scrubs, masks and moisturizers made from active ingredients from herbs that are safe for use by the community. Counseling on the efficacy of herbal plants in cosmetic preparations and conducting training on processing herbal plants into herbal cosmetics through learning by doing (technical procedures for processing plants) into cosmetic preparations including how to process plants until they are ready for use, introduction to basic ingredients for making cosmetics, how to make cosmetics and how to use and store herbal cosmetics. The people of Mendalo Indah Village understand about the processing and manufacture of cosmetics using herbal plants. Sharing dosage forms of cosmetic products given during training and counseling include scrubs and masks that are efficacious as antiaging, face and skin whitening, exfoliating and antioxidants. Keywords: Cosmetic, Herbal, Mendalo Indah, Jambi   ABSTRAK Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada masyarakat tentang Pelatihan Pembuatan Kosmetik Herbal di RT.02, desa Mendalo Indah Kecamatan Jambi Luar Kota bertujuan sebagai berikut : a) Memberikan pengetahuan kepada masyarakat mitra tentang manfaat tanaman herbal dalam bentuk sediaan kosmetik dalam rangka meningkatkan nilai guna dari tanaman herbal yang banyak di sekitar masyarakat RT.02 Mendalo Indah; b) Memberikan pelatihan teknis kepada masyarakat mitra tentang cara pembuatan kosmetik herbal diantaranya masker, lulur, pelembab dan body scrub berbahan aktif herbal dan cara penggunaannya. Hasil dari kegiatan PkM ini diharapkan dapat membentuk pengetahuan, kompetensi dan memberdayakan kemandirian masyarakat di RT 02 Mendalo Indah dalam memanfaatkan dan mengolah tanaman obat disekitar rumah menjadi kosmetik herbal dalam bentuk lulur, body scrub, masker dan pelembab berbahan aktif dari herbal yang aman digunakan oleh masyarakat. Penyuluhan khasiat tanaman herbal dalam sediaan kosmetik dan melakukan pelatihan mengolah tanaman herbal menjadi kosmetik herbal melalui learning by doing (prosedur teknis pengolahan tanaman) menjadi sediaan kosmetik meliputi cara pengolahan tanaman sampai siap digunakan, pengenalan bahan dasar pembuatan kosmetik, cara pembuatan kosmetik serta cara penggunaan dan penyimpanan kosmetik herbal.Masyarakat Desa Mendalo Indah memahami tentang pengolahan dan pembuatan kosmetik menggunakan tanaman herbal. Berbagi bentuk sediaan produk kosmetik yang diberikan saat pelatihan dan penyuluhan diantaranya adalah lulur dan masker yang berkhasiat sebagai antiaging, pemutih wajah dan kulit, exfoliating dan antioksidan. Abstract

Sodium nitrite is one of the permitted food preservatives that are widely used in meat. This study aims to identify and determine the level of sodium nitrite with samples used in the form of corned beef sausage and nuggets. Identification of sodium nitrite cadarn was done by UV-Vis Spectrophotometry method. The results showed that of the 9 samples tested, all were positive for sodium nitrite. From all samples, it was found that all food samples met the standards set by the Regulation of the Head of the Food and Drug Administration Number 36 of 2013, the maximum use limit of sodium nitrite preservative in processed meat products is 30 mg/kg.

Abstract

This study examined the characterization of crude drugs made from pigeon orchid leaves (Dendrobium crumenatum Sw.) and conducted phytochemical screening to identify the secondary metabolites present in them. Medicinal plants, particularly those from the orchid family, have significant potential for developing modern therapies due to the wide range of pharmacological compounds they contain, including anthocyanins, bibenzyl derivatives, and the main bioactive compound, dendrobine. In addition to their beauty, orchids are also beneficial for treating various diseases, making them a potential option for pharmaceutical preparations. The characterization results for the crude drugs derived from pigeon orchid leaves indicated water extractable matter of 42.01% and  ethanol extractable matter of 79.11%. The moisture content was measured at 16.04%, and a total ash content of 22.10%. Phytochemical screening showed the presence of alkaloids, phenolic compounds, flavonoids, saponins, and tannins in the pigeon orchid leaves, while no steroids were detected.

Abstract

Inggu leaf (Ruta angustifolia (L.) is one of the medicinal plants that is widely used by Indonesian people as traditional medicine for various diseases. One of the properties of the inggu plant can be used to treat fever, toothache, heartburn and ulcers. Toxicity testing ethanol extract of guinea leaf using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 7 treatments with stratified doses of 500, 1000, 2000, 4000, 8000, 16,000 mg/kg BW and control. Parameters observed after administration of the extract were diarrhea, changes in breathing, changes in aggressive behavior and decreased movement activity. Liver and kidney organs were taken to determine the organ weight ratio. The results showed that the ethanol extract of inggu leaves with graded doses up to a dose of 16,000 mg/kg BW in experimental animals did not cause death, which was included in the practically non-toxic category. Administration of ethanol extract of guinea leaves at a dose of 500 mg/kg BW to 16,000 mg/kg BW caused a decrease in locomotion activity in experimental animals during the 4-hour observation time. The ratio of organ weight of mice from the test results of the ratio of liver, right kidney and left kidney of mice was not different from that of control animals.

Abstract

The attainment of learning competencies is contingent on the quality of the offered material and the utilized learning media. Pop-up books function as captivating instructional instruments, incorporating three-dimensional elements that facilitate movement and enrich the visuals on each page. Human Anatomy and Physiology courses constitute a vital element of health education and typically necessitate appealing graphic illustrations. This study seeks to examine the impact of pop-up books on student comprehension. This research design employs a pure experimental methodology with a one-group pretest-posttest framework. The research sample comprised students from the Pharmacy Study Program at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Jambi University, for the academic year 2020/2021. The investigated data consists of test results obtained before and after utilizing the pop-up book. The aggregate of all scores divided by the student count yields the class average. This average value determines the overall capability of the class. Subsequently, ascertain the number of students who have not met the learning success target and the percentage of those who have attained it. The research findings indicate that pop-up book media can effectively enhance student performance in Human Anatomy and Physiology courses. ABSTRAKKetercapaian kompetensi pembelajaran tidak hanya bergantung pada kualitas materi yang disampaikan, tetapi juga pada media pembelajaran yang digunakan. Buku pop-up berfungsi sebagai alat pendidikan yang menarik, menampilkan komponen tiga dimensi yang  dapat memberikan gerakan dan meningkatkan citra pada setiap halaman. Mata kuliah Anatomi dan Fisiologi Manusia merupakan komponen penting dari pendidikan kesehatan dan biasanya memerlukan representasi grafis yang menarik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh buku pop-up terhadap pemahaman mahasiswa. Desain penelitian ini menggunakan metodologi eksperimental murni dengan kerangka one-group pretest-posttest. Sampel penelitian yaitu mahasiswa Program Studi Farmasi Fakultas Kedokteran dan Ilmu Kesehatan Universitas Jambi, tahun akademik 2020/2021. Data yang dianalisis yaitu hasil tes yang telah diikuti sebelum dan setelah penggunaan buku pop-up. Jumlah seluruh nilai dibagi dengan jumlah mahasiswa menghasilkan rata-rata kelas. Kemampuan umum kelas dipastikan menggunakan nilai rata-rata ini. Kemudian ditentukan banyaknya mahasiswa yang belum mencapai target keberhasilan belajar dan persentase mahasiswa yang mencapainya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media buku pop-up dapat digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan prestasi belajar mahasiswa dalam proses pembelajaran mata kuliah Anatomi dan Fisiologi Manusia.

Abstract

Kirinyuh (Chromolaena odorata (L.) R.M.King & H.Rob) is a plant from the Asteraceae family traditionally used for wound healing. This research aims to evaluate the wound healing activity of n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and n-butanol fractions derived from kirinyuh ethanol extract (Chromolaena odorata (L.) R.M.King & H.Rob). The study employed a post-test control group design in vivo using white rats (Rattus norvegicus) induced with a 3 cm long and 2 mm deep incision wound. The test formulations were applied twice a day in the morning and evening for 10 days at a dosage of 0.5 g per treatment. Wound healing effects were assessed based on the percentage of wound healing and histopathology of rat skin. The results indicated that all test fractions demonstrated wound-healing effects. The ethyl acetate fraction exhibited the most significant effect on incision wound healing compared to the positive control and the other two fractions, achieving a 75% wound healing percentage. Additionally, histopathological observations of rat skin revealed improved collagen content and epithelial cell thickness in the ethyl acetate fraction. Therefore, the ethyl acetate fraction holds the potential for development as a topical formulation in wound healing.

Abstract

Body scrub is a cosmetic form that removes dead skin cells caused by free radicals from various pollutants and ultraviolet (UV) radiation so skin cells become more accessible to regenerate. White turmeric (Curcuma zedoaria) and date seeds (Phoenix dactylifera) are plants that contain bioactive compounds to maintain and nourish the skin and have antioxidant activity. Besides, date seeds also have the potential as exfoliating agents to facilitate the release of dead skin cells. This study aimed to formulate a body scrub containing ethanol extract of white turmeric rhizome and date seed powder with five types of formulas (K+, K-, F1, F2, F3). This type of research is a true experimental, which includes the formulation and stability test. The stability test was conducted with the Cycling test method in 6 cycles (1 cycle for 2x24 hours) at temperatures of -4oC and 40oC and four months for stability at room temperature. Parameters observed include organolepticity, homogeneity, dispersibility, adhesion, pH, and viscosity. The results showed that this body scrub did not show any change in the organoleptic character, homogeneity, spreadability, adhesion, or pH values that met the requirements of a body scrub preparation. Viscosity met the requirement for stability test for room temperature in four months. This study concludes that the combination of ethanol extract of white turmeric rhizome and date seed powder seeds can be formulated to be a body scrub dosage form.

Abstract

Usaha Mikro, Kecil dan Menengah (UMKM) mampu meningkatkan inovasi, kreativitas dan kemandirian ekonomi masyarakat melalui berbagai produk dan jasa salah satunya produk teh sungkai KaiKai yang diproduksi oleh UMKM Nurchery yang berada di Kota Jambi, sehingga dapat meningkatkan ketahanan ekonomi nasional. Di era digital dan globalisasi, Inovasi sangat penting dalam persaingan yang ketat. kelangsungan UMKM Nurchery memerlukan inovasi dalam produk, layanan, distribusi dan promosi. Hal ini memungkinkan UMKM Nurchery tetap kompetitif, menjangkau pasar baru dan memenuhi kebutuhan pelanggan yang beragam dan berubah-ubah. Penciptaan produk, termasuk teknik packing design sangat memainkan peran penting dalam kesuksesan UMKM. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dalam hal pengembangan kualitas produk teh sungkai Kaikai melalui inovasi teknik packing designdi UMKM Nurchery adalah untuk meningkatkan daya saing dan nilai tambah produk di pasar yang semakin kompetitif. Inovasi teknik packing design ini dilakukan dengan mempertimbangkan aspek fungsionalitas, estetika dan keberlanjutan lingkungan. Dengan demikian kualitas produk teh sungaki KaiKai tetap terjaga. Dengan inovasi ini, produk sungkai teh Kaikai diharapkan dapat memperluas jangkauan pasar, meningkatkan penjualan dan memperkuat citra merek dagang UMKM Nurchery. Teknik packing design yang baik melindungi produk dari kerusakan dan meningkatkan kesan premium. Perubahan pada teknik packing designproduk dapat meningkatkan nilainya, menarik perhatian pembeli, dan membedakannya dari produk pesaing. Pengemasan inovatif juga menunjukkan kualitas dan identitas merek serta ramah lingkungan. Dengan mengembangkan cara baru untuk mengkemas produk, UMKM Nurchery memiliki kemampuan untuk meningkatkan daya tahan perusahaan dan konkuren di pasar.

Abstract

Kelas Inspirasi merupakan program mengajar oleh profesional dari berbagai profesi untuk mempengaruhi peserta didik agar membentuk sifat, keingintahuan, cara pandang dan motivasi peserta. Tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah untuk memperkenalkan profesi kesehatan (ahli gizi, apoteker, bidan, dokter) dan dosen, meningkatkan minat belajar serta baca peserta. Metode yang dilakukan pada pengabdian ini adalah workshop secara online dan offline. Tempat pelaksanaan kegiatan di Panti Asuhan Baiturrahman dengan pesertanya adalah anak panti yang tidak mengenyam bangku sekolah negeri maupun swasta. Tahapan yang dilakukan diawali dengan observasi awal sekaligus Focus Group Disscussion (FGD), kemudian dilanjutkan dengan kegiatan workshop. Kegiatan workshop berlangsung 3 kali yaitu 14 Agustus, 21 Agustus dan 04 September 2021 dengan pemateri yaitu ahli gizi, apoteker, ketua organisasi, bidan, dokter, dosen dan guru besar. Kelas inspirasi ini berisi edukasi wawasan serta motivasi tentang profesi tersebut. Kegiatan ini sebagai motivasi awal agar anak panti rajin membaca buku karena untuk menjadi profesi kesehatan di atas membutuhkan nilai yang tinggi dan itu bisa terwujud dengan membaca buku. Peserta sangat antusias dan aktif dalam mengikuti materi yang diberikan dan pengabdian masyarakat ini mampu memberikan cara pandang dan motivasi terhadap peserta didik

Abstract

Background: Acne vulgaris is a chronic inflammation of the pilosebaceous unit characterized by clinical signs of non-inflammatory and inflammatory lesions with varying degrees of inflammation, often caused by bacterial infection. Patchouli plant (Pogostemon cablin Benth) is a notable source of essential oil with antibacterial properties. Enhancing the effectiveness of essential oil as an anti-acne agent can be achieved through the development of a nanogel formulation.Objective: To formulate a nanogel containing patchouli leaf essential oil and evaluate its activity against Propionibacterium acnes.Methods: The formulation of patchouli leaf essential oil nanoemulsion was carried out with varying concentrations of patchouli oil at 1.5%, 2%, and 2.5%. The evaluation of the nanoemulsion included particle size analysis, zeta potential testing, and emulsion type determination. The resulting nanoemulsion was then formulated into a nanogel using HPMC as the gelling agent. The physical evaluation of the nanogel included organoleptic tests, homogeneity tests, viscosity tests, pH measurement, spreadability tests, adhesion tests, stability tests, irritation tests, and antibacterial activity tests. Data analysis was performed descriptively, followed by statistical analysis using One-Way ANOVA with a 95% confidence levelResults: The patchouli leaf essential oil (Patchouli Oil) nanoemulsion with concentrations of 1.5%, 2%, and 2.5% met the criteria for nanoemulsion formulation. The nanogel preparations in F1, F2, and F3 were solid in form, yellowish-white in color, had the characteristic aroma of patchouli leaf essential oil, and were homogeneous, meeting the requirements for gel formulations and stable. Conclusion: The formulation of nanogel containing patchouli leaf essential oil (Patchouli Oil) meets the requirements for a good gel preparation.
