Abstract

Misconception is an understanding that is believed to be correct but not according to the understanding of the experts. Misconceptions can occur because students build their knowledge gained from daily activities. This study aims to identify misconceptions about Newton's law concept and the causes of the misconceptions. The research type is descriptive quantitative. A total of 30 students of SMA Multazam IBS Semarang were given a true-false objective test and drew a style diagram accompanied by a certainty of response index (CRI). The cause of the misconception was obtained by interviewing 4 students. The results obtained were as many as 20.99% of students experienced misconceptions, 9.99% of students understood the concept, and 69.02% did not understand the concept of Newton's law concept. The most common misconception is that students think that heavier objects will fall faster than lighter objects. The cause of students experiencing misconceptions is the understanding they build themselves; students' carelessness in choosing answers; low reasoning ability; and forget the material that has been delivered.

Abstract

Entering the digital era, the culture of human life is increasingly inseparable from the use of electromagnetic waves which are very useful in supporting human life, but in the other side, it also has negative impacts in the form of radiation that threatens human health. Only few people realize that ornamental plants have many benefits other than as a decoration inside or outside the room. Several types of ornamental plants have the ability to absorb electromagnetic radiation emitted by electronic equipment. In this simple physics research, measurements were made to compare the absorption of several types of ornamental plants to electromagnetic wave radiation, those are karet kebo, betel, succulent, ivy plant, and snake plant. The research results show that snake plant’s ability to absorb electromagnetic wave radiation is the greatest than others. Research conducted on ivy shows that the absorption of ornamental plants to electromagnetic wave radiation is influenced by the distance of the plant to the radiation source, where the closer the distance between the ornamental plants to the source of electromagnetic wave radiation is, the greater the absorption of radiation occurs, resulting in a decrease in the intensity of electromagnetic radiation also getting bigger. The trend of changes in the absorption of electromagnetic wave radiation shows a decrease in each increase in distance according to the exponential graph.

Abstract

This research analyzed media feasibility and effectiveness based on IoT with a problem-solving approach that provides real experience to improve students' HOTS on thermodynamics law material. The Borg & Gall method's research development simplification had three stages: preliminary study, development, and field testing. The research subjects consisted of four lecturers as expert validators, two physics teachers, and three groups consisting of 108 in science XI grade students of Senior High School in Batang Regency, Central Java. Data collecting techniques were using questionnaires, observation, interviews, and written tests. The results of the validation of media experts and material experts were 3.84 and 3.75, respectively. The results of teacher responses and students' responses were 3.92 and 3.50 in the excellent category. The product's effective contribution to improving HOTS from the Multivariate Test analysis on GLM based on the partial eta squared value was 85.9%. The mean difference (MD) test results were -30.600 for the experimental group, while the control groups were -5.879 and -16.125, respectively. The more negative the Mean Difference (MD) score, the higher the students' HOTS. This shows that there is an experimental group giving improved scores better than the control group. This shows that there is an experimental group giving improved scores better than the control group. IoT is an opportunity for teachers to see technology as part of education because technology is the current millennial generation's cultural artifact.

Abstract

This research was conducted to analyze the Mg doping concentration effect on the structure, morphology, and optical properties of ZnO thin film prepared using the sol gel spin coating method. The Mg concentration was varied in the mole fraction of 1%, 3%, and 5%. Firstly, ZnO: Mg solution was dropped on a substrate and grown with a rotating speed of 3000 rpm and then annealed at 500 °C for 2 hours. The characterization of thin films' structure, morphology, and optical properties was done using XRD, FESEM, EDX, and UV-VIS spectrophotometer. XRD result showed a polycrystalline structure with three dominant peaks of (100), (002), and (101) plane, hexagonal wurtzite structures. Furthermore, the crystallite size was increased with the increase of Mg doping. FESEM results showed that the 5% ZnO: Mg thin film was the densest and least void from other films. In addition, the results of UV-Vis-NIR analysis showed the highest absorption value at a wavelength of 360-370 nm. The bandgap energy increased at 1% and 3% Mg doping samples but decreased by 5% Mg doping comes from the excess of oxygen in thin film with 5% Mg doping.
