Abstract

The Language and Literature Entrepreneurship course is oriented to two main aspects, namely value-oriented and goal-oriented. With the challenge based learning (CBL) learning model, this course is presented starting from the 2019/2020 academic year for semester VI students. At the time this research was conducted, this course was presented in three semesters, namely the even semester of 2019/2020, odd and even semester of the 2020/2021 academic year. This study aims to describe student responses related to the learning process and student experiences in Language and Literature Entrepreneurship courses. With qualitative descriptive research, this study consisted of 68 respondents who had taken courses. The results of this study were that respondents considered this course useful for the future, delivered with a challenging learning model, and inspiring learning materials. However, because this course was delivered during the pandemic, learning experienced several obstacles. This obstacle causes students to be less confident and some are not optimistic in entrepreneurship

Abstract

The study of Ayu Utami's novel Saman and Larung in this study discusses the issue of female sexuality expression. The research method refers to qualitative with a semiotic study approach; Signifier and Signified Ferdinand De Saussure. The results of the study show that Ayu Utami's Saman and Larung novels have marker systems related to women's sexual expression in the category of erotic acts, namely sexual arousal by kissing, sexual expectations, sexual fantasies, masturbation, sexual stimulation and intercourse. The interwoven sign system represents markers related to sexual expression as resistance to the dominant (patriarchal) culture in order to achieve social equality, personality, identity, biological needs, sexual habits, relationships, thoughts and feelings.

Abstract

This study intended to explore one of the literacy learning strategies namely character development in reading that can be used in the classroom by combining with Propp’s dramatis personae framework to get the deeper understanding about the folktales. This study involved the Japanese Folktale entitled Princess Hase as this story contains moral value that can be obtained by students after reading the folktales. This study used qualitative descriptive method which emphasizes on dramatis personae that exist in the folktales to get the deeper understanding. This study found out that the application of Propp’s dramatis personae in analyzing folktales can make the readers easier in understanding the folktales. Moreover, the combination of literacy learning strategies in this case character development in reading with Propp’s dramatis personae is beneficial to be applied in the classroom.

Abstract

Literary works has been used as objects of research as well as instruments for studying theories of language and literature. One of the literary works that is involved in linguistics and literature research is novel. This study aims at (i) finding the influence of dominant and arbitrary authorities, (ii) finding the resistance of the marginalized people against the authorities, and (iii) revealing the intelligence of the marginalized in doing an effort to fight against the authorities, in a novel entitled “Ken Arok dan Ken Dedes (Pertumpahan Darah Menuju Singgasana)” composed by Gamal Komandoko by applying Gayatri Spivak’s post-colonial theory. The present study uses a qualitative approach in which the data source is a novel of “Ken Arok dan Ken Dedes (Pertumpahan Darah Menuju Singgasana)” telling a coup story in Java. The research data are words, phrases, sentences, and paragraphs, found in Komandoko’s novel, which are in line with Spivak’s post-colonial theory. The researchers used documentation or literature in data collection. For data analysis, the researchers used descriptive analysis technique. From the results of data analysis based on Spivak’s post-colonial theory, the influence of authorities which are dominant and arbitrary, the resistance of the marginalized people against the authorities, and high intelligence possessed by the marginalized to carry out a coup as a form of resistance against the authorities are found in the novel of “Ken Arok dan Ken Dedes (Pertumpahan Darah Menuju Singgasana)” by Gamal Komandoko.
